Still 0-0 but down to ten men after just nine minutes after Ciaran Clark was given a straight red card for pulling Pukki down as he raced through on goal. Rob Halligan 2 Posted 30/11/2021 at 20:53:56 Newcastle 1-0. Penalty awarded after a header from a corner struck a Norwich arm, and awarded after VAR review. Norwich had the exact same penalty shout over ruled in the first half because it was deemed to be “Too near†the Newcastle defenders arm, yet the Newcastle penalty was just as near to the Norwich defender. Bill Gall 3 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:03:21 Rob I hope you are not saying the referee is wrong heaven forbid/ remember the amount of money behind Newcastle, I am not saying nothing is wrong but I have a feeling that Sky don't want Newcastle to go down with that much money behind them Stephen Vincent 4 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:09:06 Pukka just equalised, great goal. Rob Halligan 5 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:09:43 1-1. Pukki smashes home after a poor punch out by the Newcastle goalkeeper. Michael Kenrick 6 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:10:01 I missed that first one but around 77 mins, the ball hits a Newcastle defender on the elbow, goes behind. Penalty? Not even looked at. Corner? No. Obvious Error? Definitely. Not sure I understand this game anymore... but I do understand Pukki and how well he can hit the ball! Great strike!!! Rob Halligan 7 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:11:34 It was a great volley by Pukki. He did well to keep it down. Kieran Kinsella 8 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:12:17 Newcastle need three points here if they're going to survive and the next game against Burnley. After that they have a)Leicester a)Liverpool h)Man City h)Man Utd. Can't see them getting a point from those four. Paul Hewitt 9 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:15:17 Atleast Newcastle ain't catching us. Just need 2 more worse teams. David Pearl 10 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:15:21 If Norwich played like this at Goodison they'd have beaten us. Danny Baily 11 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:15:37 A draw for the barcodes suits us, let's hope it stays this way. Rob Halligan 12 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:16:13 Looks like Delia has fell asleep 😀😀 Bill Gall 13 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:17:16 Delia's face looks like it would crack an egg David Pearl 14 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:20:22 She's 80? No wonder she's got her eyes closed. Bill Gall 15 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:23:06 what a miss should sign him for Everton Bill Gall 16 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:27:27 well that's that one turn over, and watch Palace and Leeds Rob Halligan 17 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:29:05 Plenty of effort by both teams, but very little in the way of goalmouth action or skilful football. It was a fast and furious game, which Norwich could have won at the death. At least the effort was there. Jeff Armstrong 18 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:30:43 Officials where poor for Norwich, Shearer so biased on commentary, draw good result for us, same with Leeds v Palace. Rob Halligan 19 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:33:42 Bad challenge by Zaha, which could easily have been a red. Dave Abrahams 20 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:35:51 Michael (6), I thought that was worth looking at for a penalty to Norwich, definitely a corner, but because it was on my small IPad I thought maybe I was wrong, referee definitely on the side of Newcastle but a draw suits the Blues even this early in the season. Michael Kenrick 21 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:38:23 Yes, Dave, good result for us. Who's this lad Forshaw playing for Leeds? Dave Abrahams 22 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:42:48 Michael (21) Forshaw got 45 minutes in a European game for the Blues in a game where the result didn't matter, played quite well, wide right if I'm not mistaken, didn't come back on for the second half, might have played in another game, not sure, he'd be classed as a veteran now, a veteran we could certainly use in our dilapidated midfield. Dour Dave was the manager at the time. Bill Gall 23 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:44:18 Have to laugh remember when it was time for a sub to come on, they used to just take their tracksuit off and get on. now they look at a tablet for 5 min with a coach before they come on, Jeff Armstrong 24 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:44:38 Forshaw was always a good player, unlucky with injuries and players ahead of him when with us, I remember him being MoM for Middlesbrough at Goodison 3 or 4 years ago, he'd walk into our side at the mo'. Jeff Armstrong 25 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:48:22 How's Benteke missed that, Rondon would've buried that, like a dog with a bone! Bill Gall 26 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:48:31 what a miss by Benteke Michael Kenrick 27 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:48:59 It's fun testing your old grey cells, Dave. His big moment came in that meaningless Europa League match against BATE Borisov back in 2009, when David Moyes gave lots of the kids a taste of the big time under the Goodison Park lights in a senior match. Spells with Brentford, then Wigan then Middlesbrough, then a £4.5M move to Leeds. 5 live were saying he'd been good under Bielsa until injuries. Rob Halligan 28 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:49:09 Terrible miss by Benteke. Free header at the back stick and he heads it wide. Kieran Kinsella 29 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:50:05 Dave/JeffHe was player of the year some years back in League One, which OK it's not the Premier League, but if you look at recent loanees of ours at that level some have had their moments but no one has stood out as he did. He did have a lot of injuries. For a while at Boro he was being linked with a return to the Prem. Jake Bidwell was in that Bate Borisov game too. He seems to be doing well at Swansea. The "star" of the group though was Jose Baxter who is now handing out bibs at Finch Farm. Michael Kenrick 30 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:54:10 What the hell! This game is crazy! Jeff Armstrong 31 Posted 30/11/2021 at 21:56:00 Definitely a “proper “ player Kieran, good range of passing, great stamina, never gives up. He's been out for 2 years at Leeds but fought his way back.. again. Michael Kenrick 32 Posted 30/11/2021 at 22:05:55 Oooo... hand up. This has to be given as a penalty. Bill Gall 33 Posted 30/11/2021 at 22:06:19 Leeds players screaming for a penalty wonder if J.Moss is on the video Michael Kenrick 34 Posted 30/11/2021 at 22:07:02 So ridiculous. The game is fucked. Rob Halligan 35 Posted 30/11/2021 at 22:08:46 Well that Leeds penalty was exactly the same as the one Newcastle got, and Norwich never. Bill Gall 36 Posted 30/11/2021 at 22:09:24 Leeds level with Everton on points, behind on goal difference Rob Halligan 37 Posted 02/12/2021 at 20:34:40 Sort this one out . Arsenal corner, Fred stands on De Gea's foot who goes down injured, the ball is cleared to the edge of the area where Smith Rowe belts it in. Martin Atkinson not sure what to do, and I think he had blown for an "Infringement". Meanwhile after typing all this VAR recommends goal stands, so 1-0 to Arsenal. Michael Kenrick 38 Posted 02/12/2021 at 20:38:18 Well... very interesting goal for Arsenal. On an Arsenal corner, Fred had trod on De Ghea's foot, and he lay in a heap with his back to play as play continued, and Arsenal shot at goal. Atkison was looking at the goal but did not blow his whistle until after the ball had crossed the line. De Ghea got treatment and VAR confirmed Goal, and Atkinson finally signalled for it. Very bizarre. Bill Gall 39 Posted 02/12/2021 at 20:41:01 Would this be a case of Man Utd not being on the Sky favorite list Rob Halligan 40 Posted 02/12/2021 at 20:42:45 Man Utd players then surrounded Atkinson, I assume demanding to know why the goal wasn't disallowed? It now seems man Utd demand fouls on their players, even if the foul has been inflicted by their own players. Bobby Mallon 41 Posted 02/12/2021 at 20:49:57 Ha ha ha ha UTD are so entitled not Bill Gall 42 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:03:23 Arsenal should have had a penalty Maguire pulling a player down, I suppose it is they go down so easy that Arsenal never got it Bill Gall 44 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:17:50 Listening to the half time talk and even Paul Scholes said the Arsenal goal should have stood, but the general consent was Arsenal should have had a penalty when Maguire pulled down an Arsenal player Rob Halligan 45 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:27:55 Bill, I think the only way the goal would not have stood is if Atkinson had blown his whistle before the ball hit the net, and I think he did blow after the ball did cross the line, but what for I don't know? Man Utd now 2-1 ahead. Michael Kenrick 46 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:28:23 Classic brilliant Ronaldo for #800 Rob Halligan 47 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:30:20 2-2. Bobby Mallon 48 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:33:15 Good goal by Arsenal. Here's a question for you all. Is McTomany any better than Tom Davies and would he help our midfield? Jeff Armstrong 49 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:45:12 Fred played for that, puts his leg in between Odegards Michael Kenrick 50 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:46:54 #801 wasn't too shabby either. A lesson in how to take a penalty. Robert Tressell 52 Posted 02/12/2021 at 21:59:03 It has cost a lot of money, but Arsenal and Arteta have put together a good side. I wonder how he'd have got on if we got him instead of Ancelotti. Jeff Armstrong 53 Posted 02/12/2021 at 22:08:26 Arteta was almost gone not so long ago, maybe managers need a bit of time to stamp their own mark on a team, a transfer window or 3 maybe, mistakes are made along the way but they need a bit of time. Dave Abrahams 54 Posted 02/12/2021 at 22:10:55 Michael (50), if the goalkeeper had stood up he would have had a decent chance of saving it. Bill Gall 55 Posted 02/12/2021 at 22:27:18 Micheal Carrick has left Man Utd after the Arsenal game Add Your Comments In order to post a comment, you need to be logged in as a registered user of the site. » Log in now Or Sign up as a ToffeeWeb Member — it's free, takes just a few minutes and will allow you to post your comments on articles and Talking Points submissions across the site.
