Brian Harrison 3 Posted 05/03/2022 at 12:27:45 I would hope you are right, Danny, but you just think one of these results will go against us. Colin Glassar 4 Posted 05/03/2022 at 13:06:39 Hesgoals has stopped showing Premier League games. Mike Corcoran 7 Posted 05/03/2022 at 13:26:04 Colin, it's over for Hesgoal streams, where to now?About the English Premier League Matches on Hesgoal. Colin Glassar 8 Posted 05/03/2022 at 13:29:12 The pub? Bill Gall 10 Posted 05/03/2022 at 13:39:41 I was hoping for a Leicester win today but Leeds looking the better team... Simon Dalzell 11 Posted 05/03/2022 at 13:53:26 Colin (4) Mike (7). Mygoaltv.org is the best I've tried. Very reliable and HD picture. Get in Harvey Barnes!!! Bill Gall 12 Posted 05/03/2022 at 13:57:18 Leicester 1 up Ray Roche 15 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:06:12 Colin @8Too many Kopites. If we're away, they're at home so the pubs will be chocker. Simon Dalzell 16 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:09:08 mygoaltv.org Bill Gall 18 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:22:21 Leicester win! Dale Self 19 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:23:33 Alrght good first result. Tony Everan 20 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:25:37 A good result. Three games in hand now on Leeds and 1 point behind, their goal difference is poor too. Brent Stephens 21 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:27:50 Yes, Brian, some darkish arts called for. Not dangerous - just, well, robust shall we say. And I think Frank has the players standing up to the ref as well. Brian Murray 22 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:29:35 Tony. Sounds boss on paper... then Toffee Reality kicks in. Only ourselves to blame if we can't get out of this. Scary stuff. Don Wright 23 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:36:52 Okay, guys, when I am not at the game or watching my Fire stick, I watch the match on my PC (can be accessed from a phone: https://unblockit.cam/). When you get to this website scroll down to “sports streams†and pick one. The best two are LIVE TV and CRICFREE. You will have to navigate some adds but that goes with the territory. Premier League games are on there and a lot of other leagues. Brian Murray 24 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:40:11 That's the standout for me this season. Players and coaches pulling in the same direction, finally, making these refs think twice about a decision. Okay Newcastle (Shelvey red card) and Southampton (penalty) not panned out that way but scream loud enough and long enough and we will get fair play. At least 10 points a season makes the difference... Although can't account for some beaut in a van with his red bobble hat on I suppose. With frank and his crew we have winners so eventually that will run off on the rest of the team/ club. Bill Gall 25 Posted 05/03/2022 at 14:48:30 I am happy with DAZN, they have every Premier League game on, the European cup ties and if are like me from the UK, they regularly show darts snooker, boxing and the occasional cricket test match. Sad thing is they lost out for the Premier League next season. Bill Gall 26 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:14:28 Newcastle 2-up! Eddie Dunn 28 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:28:43 Mike & Colin – Hesgoal is a big blow, they have been my go-to site for ages. Seems like they have been threatened by the Premier League.Simon – I will give your suggestion a whirl. Ta. Bill Gall 29 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:34:54 Brentford go 1-up.Crystal Palace 2-up. James Flynn 30 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:40:43 Don (23) - Thanks. I tried it and it works fine. Michael Lynch 31 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:48:52 I'm watching Burnley - Chelsea and Chelsea look very lukewarm. If Burnley could finish, they'd be out of sight by now. Still, Leeds were on top at Leicester earlier and they still lost. This is all very worrying.Oh, and mygoaltv.org is excellent Bill Gall 32 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:52:51 Chelsea not doing Everton any favors playing at half pace allowing Burnley to get back to defend easily. Jim Bennings 34 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:54:43 Brentford win today they'll be 8 points ahead of us, that's a big ask even with games in hand for an Everton side that's won just twice since September. If I was a betting man I'd say it's out of Everton, Burnley, Leeds that join Watford and Norwich for relegation. Jamie Crowley 35 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:56:14 Even if Burnley pull something off against Chelsea and we go no points from Spurs and the table is ugly after Monday, Leeds are in free-fall, I still think Brentford is in big trouble even if they get 3 points against Norwich, and Watford is a mess.We have games in hand. If we play they way we have under Frank, sans Southampton, we'll be okay.I think. Jamie Crowley 36 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:57:55 Jim - I personally think Burnley won't go down. I think it's a Norwich, Watford, Leeds, Brentford, Everton race. Don't know why, just think Burnley will stay up. Geoff Williams 37 Posted 05/03/2022 at 15:59:21 The damage done to the club by Benitez takes some believing. I genuinely believe we will be relegated as the remaing fixtures are incredibly tough and all of our rivals seem able to pick up the odd win. Rob Halligan 38 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:00:08 Jim, if Brentford win today they will go 5 points ahead, not 8. Bill Gall 39 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:07:07 Chelsea score! Danny Baily 40 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:07:52 If Chelsea can take the lead then results are going our way.Having said that, I have come to terms with the likelihood of relegation. We've overreached financially (and now had the rug pulled from beneath us), made a terrible managerial appointment (and took too long to appreciate the severity of the situation) and made poor signings for over half a decade.If/when we go down, then the fightback begins the very next day. Jim Bennings 41 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:13:04 RobMy mistake yes its 5 points ahead, I think they have just gone two up as we speak. Jeff Armstrong 42 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:13:19 Chelsea 2-0 Michael Lynch 43 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:13:19 2-0 to Chelsea. Still managing to stay out of the bottom three! Jim Bennings 44 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:13:46 Chelsea two-up. Paul Hewitt 45 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:14:03 No way will we go down. Bill Gall 47 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:15:05 Burnley 3 down – and they have the same goal difference as us! Rob Halligan 48 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:15:18 So easy for Chelsea. Piss poor defending and Pope just watched the second goal go in. Michael Lynch 49 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:15:31 Burnley collapsing and Brighton pull one back. Dale Self 50 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:16:42 And it's Brighton coming up on the outsde! Down the stretch they go…. Rob Halligan 51 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:16:52 Chelsea 3-0. What was Jamie saying? Burnley have imploded. Brentford 3-0. Jim Bennings 52 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:16:54 Burnley collapsed like a box of soggy Johnnies. Dale Self 53 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:19:04 Good one Jim, the colonial version is ‘folded like a taco'. Joe McMahon 54 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:25:58 Brighton on a terrible run, everyone's fave Potter has Micheal Keanitus. Jim Bennings 55 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:29:21 Could be a struggle for Brighton next season, especially if they lose Bissouma and Dunk. Bill Gall 56 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:29:28 Chelsea 4 up keep going Rob Halligan 58 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:30:17 Let's be honest, Burnley are fucking shite. 4-0. John Atkins 59 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:34:23 Not too bad for us today with Leeds and Burnley not picking up anything. We could have done with a draw between Norwich and Brentford but 5 points behind them with 4 games in hand and we have to play them at home. But we really need to start picking up points, need at least a point Monday night then 3 at home to Wolves. Jim Bennings 60 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:39:06 Chelsea have put Burnley to sleep in this half. When you watch teams like Chelsea away from home, those are the levels we need to aspire to in away games when we have a good performance and a two goal lead, keep going for more goals and go for the kill, don't sit back Bill Gall 61 Posted 05/03/2022 at 16:57:32 It's in our own hands now. We have to start picking up points, even draws. John Atkins 63 Posted 05/03/2022 at 17:07:45 Newcastle's next 4 league games are all away starting with Southampton then Chelsea, then us followed by Spurs …… think we'll be above them come April. Rob Halligan 65 Posted 05/03/2022 at 17:37:35 Jon Moss is the referee at the RS v West Ham game. Only five minutes gone and he's already lagging at least thirty yards behind play. Think he will need to be replaced at half time as he will be well knackered! Dale Self 66 Posted 05/03/2022 at 17:45:55 He just fired up Antonio that's for sure. Oooh close. Tony Abrahams 67 Posted 05/03/2022 at 17:47:18 He's a proper arl-arse Rob, because he's got time wasting down to such a fine-art, that he would have got a game for any of the great Italian sides, if only he'd been able to kick a ball.Kidding nobody Moss, although it does show how much power the modern referee has, even though the standards of some of them is absolutely appalling. Tony Abrahams 68 Posted 05/03/2022 at 18:32:51 Twice in a week Liverpool have got a VAR decision because of an arm, but more concerning for Everton, is why Martin Fucking Atkinson, is the 4th official for second Everton game on the bounce. If they are conspiring, this fella will have already written the script, because he's one man I'd never trust, when Everton are concerned. Danny O’Neill 69 Posted 05/03/2022 at 18:55:35 It's a combination of incompetence, ego and giving people authority who don't really know how to handle it, Tony.Add to that the Beatle fan type groupie behaviour that officials show to the top clubs and players and you have the perfect storm.I'm surprised most officials can stay on their feet as their knees seem to buckle as they gush in admiration when officiating matches involving the Sky 4. It must be very distracting for them and impact their decision making as they faint and swoon.Apologies for my cynicism. Not a bad day for us but we need to take control of our own destiny on Monday. I'll be there. I hope Everton turn up as well. Thomas Hughes 70 Posted 05/03/2022 at 19:29:36 As the bastards win again, it's over to City now tomorrow and I wonder if the pressure might start to get to them with the added fact that it is a derby match as well. I hate to say it but each passing week, I'm fearing that quadruple is a real possibility. Danny O’Neill 71 Posted 05/03/2022 at 19:49:00 Have no fear Thomas. Our own Quadrupale is a possibility.1. Everton stay safe in the Premier League.2. Bramley Moore remains on course.3. We win the next derby at Anfield.4. We're going to Wembley twice.Okay, technically that's 5 things. Paul Hewitt 72 Posted 05/03/2022 at 20:39:41 Thomas @70. Why fear what they do. I don't care if they win the lot. Means nothing to me. Tony Everan 73 Posted 05/03/2022 at 20:40:23 That would do, Danny. Staying up is the priority, then Frank and this excellent team can rebuild in the summer. Jeff Armstrong 74 Posted 05/03/2022 at 20:51:52 Thomas #70, as long as we stay up, the RS don't concern me. To coin a phrase on here....Not arsed TBH. Allen Rodgers 75 Posted 05/03/2022 at 23:19:15 As others have said, I don't care if the shite win the quadruple and the Eurovision song contest as long as we stay up. Danny O’Neill 76 Posted 06/03/2022 at 08:09:24 As I have close family links, watching the Villa highlights. What a coup signing by Aston Villa getting Coutinho. And I heard on these pages we didn't want a Barcelona reject. Some turned their noses up at the prospect.Great creative Number 10 that we are missing. Bill Gall 77 Posted 06/03/2022 at 14:07:52 Arsenal go 1 up. Bill Gall 78 Posted 06/03/2022 at 14:13:26 Watford fight back 1--1 Brian Hennessy 79 Posted 06/03/2022 at 14:33:20 Gunners back in front, Bill, hope they stay in front! Stu Gore 80 Posted 06/03/2022 at 14:37:02 Pleased to see Tom Cleverley still has his awareness issues. Tony Everan 81 Posted 06/03/2022 at 14:38:55 Plenty of energy from Watford but Saka has been excellent, him and and Odegaard have class they can't match. Hopefully it stays that way! Will Mabon 82 Posted 06/03/2022 at 14:39:00 Brian, look what else is happening. When Spurs pass West Ham as they almost certainly will, having three games in hand on them, the same old "Big Six" will be in the Top 6 places. All roads lead to Rome. Bill Gall 83 Posted 06/03/2022 at 14:43:58 Brian, yes, I watched that. Watford making a game of it... Soren Moyer 84 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:06:51 How the hell did we lose to The Canaries!? Michael Lynch 85 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:09:30 Horrible cheating from Hernandez there. I hate that. He hardly touched him. Michael Lynch 86 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:10:41 Oh another absolute beauty! Bill Gall 87 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:11:15 Another good goal from Arsenal. Peter Carpenter 88 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:11:26 Because Rafa was our manager, Soren. Dale Self 89 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:12:52 Arsenal is aesthetically pleasing again. Well done Mikel! Tony Everan 90 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:26:03 Good to see Arteta playing his part in the build up. He started the move! Bill Gall 91 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:45:45 Watford make it interesting: 3-2 with 5 minutes to go... Soren Moyer 92 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:46:13 2-3 Bill Gall 93 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:49:57 Note how quick players get up from a tackle when they're only 1 goal behind with 5 minutes to go, instead of rolling around on the ground. Peter Carpenter 94 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:54:20 Arsenal, biggest timewasting cheats in the Premier League, Manchester City second. Wonder where Arteta did his apprenticeship? Dale Self 95 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:55:21 If Man City get three, it will be a fairly good set of results this weekend. John Atkins 96 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:55:29 Thank fuck for that. Bill Gall 97 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:55:35 Arsenal win – another good result for us. Andrew Clare 98 Posted 06/03/2022 at 15:55:36 I watched MOTD today for the first time in ages and it occurred to me that, apart from maybe one or two teams, the rest are much better than us. It's a worry because I think we are in for a much harder run-in than we think. 15 points will be the maximum we can achieve and that's by no means certain. As the fixtures stand, barring rearranged games, 3 points will be the best we can hope for in April and May. Hopefully we can pick some unexpected wins and draws. Starting tomorrow night. Michael Kenrick 99 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:00:13 That third Arsenal goal... execution was exquisite. Talk about one-touch football. Gary Jones 100 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:05:32 Andrew Clare – go and take a long walk and breathe, for fuck's sake. Yes, we are in shit, but there's nothing in this league between the Top 3 and all but the Bottom 2… every game is winnable. Just get behind the team instead of waving your white flag. No windows, no manager changes, just fight and belief now. Brian Denton 101 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:14:51 Andrew, we won't need 15 points anyway, just to stay up. I reckon 12 will be okay. If we can't get 12 points from 14 games, we hardly deserve to stay up.A point at Spurs would be very useful, of course. Danny Baily 102 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:17:16 Gary, Andrew makes a fair point. We will need some unexpected results to stay up. I'm amazed how relaxed some posters on here are. We've won twice since September. Simon Dalzell 103 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:17:21 Eddie (28), Thanks for the feedback. I hope my suggestion worked. mygoaltv.org Server 2 is reliable, but others work as well. Chris Leyland 104 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:21:57 Danny (102),Newcastle, Brentford, Wolves, Leicester, Palace all at home and all winnable games. Burnley and Watford away also winnable if we are focused.Plus, some of the other games we might pick up points unexpectedly, starting tomorrow at Spurs. We are also capable of getting something against Man Utd at home too. Danny Baily 105 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:25:11 Brian, our not deserving to stay up is precisely what I'm worried about. Based on our form since the first international break, we'll pick up around 7 points from the remaining 14 games (and in that time we've squandered a lot of the easier fixtures). Getting 12 points is a massive ask. Gary Jones 106 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:30:04 Well set out, Chris. Danny, if you and Andrew want to get out your “End is Nigh†boards with 14 games left, then feel free. Personally I think it's a bit embarrassing, and I'm getting behind our boys and supporting them. The reason we have won only a few since September is because of Benitez, who didn't get sacked until January, and it's going to take a few more games for Frank, Clement et al to fix the negative shit that muppet drilled into them. Mike Gaynes 107 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:30:49 Nice pregame display in Manchester. And now a very nice goal by Kevin De Bruyne! Dale Self 108 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:39:35 Yay! But oooh that was close to an ugly toe poke. Good start. Rob Halligan 109 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:41:39 Danny # 105. Even if we do only pick up seven points (😄😄😄) from our remaining games, it will still be enough to stay up, because that Bottom 3 are absolute gash, and I honestly can't see any further points for any of them. Danny Baily 110 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:44:17 Gary, I donned that sandwich board after Brighton at home. Not being alarmist, just looking at performances and the fixtures and acknowledging that it's a big ask for this side to pick up 12 points. Dale Self 111 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:53:49 Rangnick had a plan for City in the works. They've looked worth that goal which was well taken by Sancho. Tony Hill 112 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:56:20 I don't agree, Danny @110. The first -half performance against Manchester City was significant. I cannot recall the last time I saw City so discomforted, and we should have had the chance to draw level. If we play like that, we will survive with relative ease. I have a lingering worry about where our goals are going to come from but we have good players still to come back in, notably Gray. If Calvert-Lewin can recover his form, then we will certainly be fine. Dale Self 113 Posted 06/03/2022 at 16:59:39 Yessssss! Please get another for a buffer. Whew! Graham Mockford 114 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:00:31 Foden is the closest player I've seen to Alan Ball. Complete player. Tony McNulty 115 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:03:28 Good, rational summary of the situation, Tony Hill (112) Will Mabon 116 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:06:52 And another one... Don Wright 117 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:10:07 Yes, Graham (114), but Bally never fell over like a girl when any one went near him. John McFarlane Snr 118 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:14:00 Hi Danny [110] It's not the past results or performances that will be the deciding factors in the fight for survival, and to suggest that the most points that Everton can hope for is 12 from 14 games, is [in my opinion], a rather pessimistic statement to make. Brian Denton 119 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:23:00 12 points from 14 games is pretty much on a par with 22 points from 24 games, which is what we've managed in this dreadful season to date. Andrew Clare 120 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:24:07 I want us to stay up but, looking at how we have performed up until now, it is going to tough. I am not waving the white flag, I will be cheering for the Blues every game. It's especially hard having been an Evertonian for 60+ years to see our club sinking lower and lower. Brian Murray 121 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:31:45 Go Ed, Kippax Krew – at least spare us some pain. Coyb Danny Baily 122 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:32:49 Brian 119, Thankfully we got some points on the board early on. Since the 80th minute of Watford at home we've been comfortably among the worst sides in the Premier League. I think we've picked up 8 points from 17 matches after the first international break.Still, you never know. 3 points tomorrow would make a massive difference. Mike Gaynes 123 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:37:08 Tony #112, if we had consistently played the way we played against Man City, we wouldn't be in this predicament, but I agree with you. I still think we'll finish around 14th.But Andrew C, I respect your pain. This must be so hard to watch after seeing so much success back in the day. Will Mabon 124 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:55:05 That's about all Maguire is good at. Mike Gaynes 125 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:59:04 Oh, that is BRILLIANT. Michael Kenrick 126 Posted 06/03/2022 at 17:59:31 What a beautiful strike by Mahrez. Nice that Maguire deflected it too! Simon Dalzell 127 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:00:22 That's summed Maguire up. Donkey. Pay back for that ugly hack on de bruyne. Mike Gaynes 128 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:00:35 At moments like that, Maguire gets a look on his face like he has salmonella. And I just love to see it. Jeff Armstrong 129 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:00:58 And deflections Will 124 Will Mabon 130 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:05:17 Jeff, he also does a good line in unnecessary pointing. Biggest waste of money ever. Thomas Hughes 131 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:06:22 Man City need to enhance their goal difference ASAP. The title is still currently in Liverpool's hands if they win at Man City, with a better goal difference which would also sway it further by City losing to them. I won't be happy until Liverpool lose another game. Joe McMahon 132 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:11:27 Thomas, I agree... but spending £100 million on Grealish when Aguero left will hit goals scored. That said, I've already accepted Reds will win the title, we just need little club Everton to stay up. At least then Frank and his team can crack on. If we do stay up, I'm sure our future will look better. Tony Everan 133 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:30:19 The amount of work that Foden does is just unreal. He's a fantastic player, I enjoyed watching him and De Bruyne today. John Atkins 134 Posted 06/03/2022 at 18:30:55 No draws this weekend in Premier League ….. Bound to be one surely? Or an away win? Dave Abrahams 135 Posted 06/03/2022 at 19:15:44 Tony (133), A great young player who will get better and De Bruyne typifies the class and work rate of the City team. As Graham says (114), Foden is the complete footballer. Danny O’Neill 136 Posted 06/03/2022 at 19:19:00 We'll get a point tomorrow.Maguire. The expensive Michael Keane. Not that he was cheap.Foden is an absolute gem. And De Bruyne is possibly my favourite footballer right now. Mike Gaynes 137 Posted 06/03/2022 at 19:55:51 Me too, Danny. Love watching him. His football intelligence is off the charts. Tony Everan 138 Posted 06/03/2022 at 21:01:03 Watching Foden I've been thinking of our Anthony Gordon and his upward trajectory. Different players in some ways, but similar desire and appetites for work. Both want the ball and are direct and intelligent. Both always looking to attack and make something happen. It's exciting to see such a player heading in the ‘Foden' direction in a blue shirt. Danny O’Neill 139 Posted 07/03/2022 at 06:26:01 I thought about mentioning Gordon, Tony @138, but refrained.I agree. Without getting carried away, there are parallels with Gordon and Foden. I'll apply the caveat they are different players and you can never exactly compare players. But Gordon is developing more than nicely. And unlike Foden, he doesn't have the benefit of being surrounded by some of the best players on the planet, so you could argue he is standing out even more. Imagine him playing in that Man City team. In fact no, don't.That is, on one hand, great; on the other, concerning. Let's just hope he continues to head in the direction you mention in a Royal Blue shirt, not just a blue one of some other shade or flavour. Tony Abrahams 140 Posted 07/03/2022 at 08:17:55 I might be wrong, but I was genuinely looking at Gordon the other night, and was thinking: Are you doing as well as people claim? It's a very good point about it being harder when not being surrounded by better players, Danny, but I personally think Anthony is just doing enough, a malaise that has affected “most Everton players†for a very long time now. Brian Williams 141 Posted 07/03/2022 at 08:58:16 Tony A. I see your point on Anthony, mate, but what I'd say is that, if anything, he's actually trying too hard. You know how it is when you really want to make a difference and your first, or first couple, of things don't come off. You can sometimes then become too focused on your own play and lose a little bit of peripheral perspective. I think if he was able to just relax a bit in his final passage of play he'd improve his decision making and the passes he picks.Easy for me to say like! Ajay Gopal 142 Posted 07/03/2022 at 09:41:13 Brian, I agree, Anthony has become too desperate to score. I think our front 3 need to just relax a little bit and be patient and probe a bit more rather than hit the ball towards goal at the first opportunity. If they can do that, I am sure that we will be scoring a lot more goals. At the end of the day, it is our goal-scorers who can get us out of the cesspit we are in right now. Dave Abrahams 143 Posted 07/03/2022 at 09:45:39 Brian (141) and Ajay (142), Good points along with moving away from the man with the ball and finding space so that man can find him with the ball and then he can use his undoubted skill with the ball. But he is coming on nicely and will improve no doubt having indifferent games like the other night. Brian Harrison 144 Posted 07/03/2022 at 09:47:10 Tony @140,I think you may be a tad harsh on Gordon, this is really his first season where he is a regular starter. Yes, he has to improve his goal ratio and be a bit more clinical in front of goal and his final ball could be better. Let's not forget, Foden has been a regular starter for a couple of seasons now. For Gordon, he is still learning about his game in the toughest league, so not easy. Also, unlike Foden, who came into a team full of stars and also a team that has won the league for 3 of the last 4 years. Danny O’Neill 145 Posted 07/03/2022 at 10:29:41 I'd agree with some of that, Tony @140 and Brian Murray. I thought his last performance was one of his poorest in a while because he was trying to do too much. You know me – I'm a purist, but I thought he was trying to be a bit fancy and cocky. It's inevitable with young players. They will have peaks and dips. Tony Abrahams 146 Posted 07/03/2022 at 11:11:29 I'm not criticising Gordon, because I only want the best for the kid, and it's also good to listen to all the different points of view.My own view isn't that he's trying too hard, Brian, although the bit about relaxing is a very good point and something that should also be taken on board by Richarlison, whilst Calvert-Lewin sometimes appears too relaxed, if that makes sense!I'm not comparing Gordon to anyone either (although Foden's quality only shines through because he never stops, imo) but if it was me tonight, I'd put Anthony on the bench. I'd play Richarlison and Gray, either side of Calvert-Lewin, I'd play Alli just behind, and I'd play Doucouré alongside Van de Beek, while I think the back four probably picks itself. It means the bench is getting stronger, and taking the likes of Gordon and Allan out might also give them an opportunity to refresh themselves. Danny O’Neill 147 Posted 07/03/2022 at 11:24:50 I know exactly where you're coming from Tony.More than in previous decades and our lifetime, it's not a best 11 game. It's a squad and rotational one. Especially for the young and developing players as much as for the older experienced ones, you need to rest them. Our problem has and is the depth of the squad. We are lightweight. When the media pressure was on Pep to play Foden a couple of years back, he shrugged it off and managed his development. Because he could. And now player and club are seeing the benefit of that. Dave Abrahams 148 Posted 07/03/2022 at 14:17:23 Would there have been a few comments about City's fourth goal yesterday if they hadn't comprehensively beaten United yesterday and it had been the winning goal, it looked a very dodgy decision to me. Barry Hesketh 149 Posted 09/03/2022 at 14:10:54 Mostly because I was bored with the doom and gloom and because I was curious about the size of the Goodison pitch in relation to others I dug this link out.Premier League Pitch SizesI would never have guessed that Goodison was longer and wider than Anfield, in fact the playing surface - according to the link - is the widest in the Premier League. I thought I read some years ago, that all the top level pitches were to be the same width, but that looks as if it either has been shelved or was never a rule. Bill Gall 150 Posted 09/03/2022 at 21:47:37 Quite the game between RMA v PSG. Madrid after being 2 goals down go ahead 3-2 with a hat-trick from Benzema, how old is he? Barry Hesketh 151 Posted 09/03/2022 at 21:49:46 Bill @150,He scores some goals, that Benzema. As you say, he seems to have been around for 30 years. Dale Self 152 Posted 09/03/2022 at 21:53:06 Brill! another PSG cave in. Bill Gall 153 Posted 09/03/2022 at 21:54:43 PSG goes out Pottechino Utd's next manager Rob Halligan 154 Posted 09/03/2022 at 21:56:49 One almighty cock up by Donnarumma for Real's first goal. PSG seemed to be coasting it until that. Bill Gall 155 Posted 09/03/2022 at 22:05:11 What do you think, Barry, nice watching proper footballers? That second goal by Mbappe where he dummies the keeper was outrageous. Pity it was offside.
