I mean, let's be honest, this whole Nation's League thing means nothing and is indicative of nothing.

The players are knackered and don't care and just want the season to end.

Italy, Germany, France, Belgium have all had rather underwhelming performances on the whole.

The teams that actually care about it are the ones performing well, they are the mid/low ranking teams who a good performance helps qualification for the Euros.

While these are basically pre-World Cup friendlies for England and Co, they can't be because they are at the end of the season. Our World Cup chances would improve if the lads were on holiday and resting and we used the Nations League just for a B-team and any players who want to get a chance to impress.

I'm not too sure if Southgate has much of a clue, but that notwithstanding the Players maybe not totally 100% mentally engaged in the whole Tournament as a 'real thing'

I get your point but Belgium lost 4-1 away and to a good team then made up for it with a 6-1 win. France lost unluckily 1-0 twice despite dominating. Germany thrashed Italy and Italy can say they fielded a B team.

England put out something close to their best twice against Hungary and were embarrassed then humiliated. So they're in a league of their own in terms of post-season slump.

Southgate looks silly now by saying people not in the squad will have a hard time getting in. Maybe after that, these thought they were on Easy Street?

Oh well. The season starts in August.
