Minnesota v Everton ToffeeWeb meet up?

Is anyone else from ToffeeWeb going to the Minnesota v Everton game?

I have a single ticket as the family are not interested – though they’ll be exploring Minneapolis. I would love to connect with any American-based or indeed other fans traveling from anywhere else. Lyndon has my email for contact or comment on here.

Up the Blues!!!

I'm pondering that one, Kieran. Had planned to meet a local friend there, but now he's gonna be out of town on business. Still might decide to come if the US airline industry gets its shit straightened out. Right now the herds of people sleeping on the floors of the terminals are scaring me off.

Mike, just drive — gas is super cheap for cross-country road trips... lol!

Does anyone know where Everton will be in the ground or do we have no designated space. What the feck is GA?

Kieran, what price is gas at now in the US out of curiosity?

Brian

Where I live 5 dollars a gallon, elsewhere double that basically

Gasoline is generally less expensive in the South. Regular is $4.10/gal at the closest gas station to me.

Kieran & Ed, you lucky sods. Gone to over €2.20 a litre here now in Ireland, which if my maths are correct, would be around $8.90 a gallon.

Been thinking about these US exhibitions, both are a helluva drive from Toronto (might be better to fly given the price of gas) but I'm leaning towards Baltimore if anything, mainly because of seafood especially crab.

Recently got the sack after 24 years on the same job. If my lawyer gets me a decent severance package quickly, I will seriously be looking at this. Sell me on Minnesota instead of Baltimore! I already love Dylan, Prince, and The Replacements.

I have visited Baltimore. Pretty harbor and over-rated Italian food. I would go with crab cakes.

Ed, same here I've been a couple of times and ate seafood for every meal. Including crab cake eggs benny for breakfast!

Neil, I would say Minneapolis is lovely in the summer, and less likely to be sauna-humid in July than Baltimore. Pretty river walks and good food if you don't like things too spicy.

I've spent a fair bit of time in Maryland and the DC area.

As I've said previous, best place to stay for Baltimore is Annapolis. A bit of a drive but it's the US; you drive!

It's worth it. Very historical and lots of good bars and music.

Accessible to BWI airport and Arundel Mills is a decent place to kill time if your flight is a late one on the way back.

Resident Minnesotan here. I live a 8-10 minute walk from the stadium and would be happy to host people ahead of the match for beers and food and such. If that's not your thing, feel free to send me an email at joppenheimer@uwalumni.com for recommendations of things to do in the Twin Cities, updates on EFC goings-on ahead of the match, or connections to the Minnesota Toffees group. That group typically meets up at a bar in Minneapolis which is a bit of a drive from the stadium. No word yet on their pre-match plans, but I'd be happy to provide an update when there is one. As Mike said, the Twin Cities in the summertime is a good place to be, though mid-week there may not be as much going on locally as on a weekend, but let me know your interests and I'd be happy to put something together about things to do.

Booked my flights, hotels and match tickets. My daughter and her boyfriend are travelling with me but not going to the games.

It would be great to meet up at one or both venues. We are making a holiday of it and staying 2 nights in DC, 2 in Baltimore, 4 in Minneapolis and 1 back in DC before the flight home.

We are flying from BWI to Minneapolis but is it worth also hiring a car or taking the bus, taxi, train or whatever?
