Dobbin fires another pre-season hat-trick for U23s

U23s are at Chorley tonight, 1-0 up after about 10 mins, Cannon through ball for Dobbin to score.

That's not a bad result for Everton, Phill. I watched Chorley a few weeks ago against Morecombe and thought they were a physically strong outfit. They have also had a few good results in the FA Cup over the last couple of seasons, so I can't wait to hear Brent's match report now!

Yes indeed, Brent, another young side, did well score wise sometimes they struggle against older more cany teams.

Yeh battery packed up. Dobbin second was an opportunistic first time swept shot just inside the area. His third just the keeper to beat and put it into the corner.

Dobbin a man boy against men. Very impressive skill wise and physically. And Astley impressed in defence. Not scared to mix it with the big lads.

Great stuff, Brent. It is exciting to hear about the emergence of new talent at the club. We are long overdue a real star. Hopefully Onyango and Simms and Branthwaite can kick-on this season after their injuries. Dobbin and Cannon seem to have a good future ahead of them - fingers crossed!

I feared for Dobbin after that long-term injury but he's clearly back to doing what he does best.

Dave #21 - yes, Seb at RB. Played a fairly solid game defensively, and put some nice balls down the wing for the likes of Dobbin and Cannon to get on to.

I think it was McAllister who was ready to come on with his shirt on the wrong way round - Rhino saw the funny side.

Brent (24)thanks for that Brent, I was asking about Seb Quirk because I knew his grandparents very well, he is also related to Duncan Ferguson's wife. I am hoping he makes a career out of football so every year he gets with Everton is a feather in his cap, don't know if he has been awarded a full professional contract with the Blues.

Dave, Everton's website says "Quirk signed a first professional contract with Everton in July 2020".

Brent (26), thanks again Brent, I take an interest in the lads time at Everton but obviously missed that, it means he must have got a two year contract at least, very good, I hope he does well enough to get another one off the Blues, his grandmother, Theresa, would have been proud and delighted with his progress.

We should make sure both Lewis Dobbin and Ellis Simms are tied to contacts with every chance they can make the break-through!

Give these young players a chance in the first team, or there is no point in academies or U23 squads.

Dobbin should be given a chance to show his ability. What's to lose?

Just highlights, but I liked our youngsters looking to turn into the attack right away.

First time having a look at Dobbin. Lively going forward. Besides his goals, he laid off to teammates a couple times when he saw they had a better opening.

Wish them all luck wherever football takes them. And Dobbin, pre-season or no, 10 goals in 4 games is some return.

Always enjoy you and others talking about our youngsters. 19th birthday come January for Dobbins. Hope he stays healthy so we can see continuous improvement over the next 2 seasons.
