Calvert-Lewin withdrawn from England squad

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will play no part in England's scheduled matches over the current international break after picking up a thigh strain in Saturday's win at Brighton.

The striker was already playing through the discomfort of a broken toe according to some reports and his withdrawal from the national squad will hopefully give him time to recover from both injuries.

Calvert-Lewin has scored in each of this three appearances this season and is one of Rafael Benitez's most important players.

Jordan Pickford will still link up with the England party, however, as the sole representative from Everton in Gareth Southgate's squad.

Just thought I'd qualify my comment above. Sorry for Dom – made up for us... team and fans.

Shows just how much we need reinforcements

Obviously the correct decision to offload Kean but only IF we get someone in that can score goals.

Calvert-Lewin has played like a Trojan for the last 2-3 seasons but he will get injured, lose form, or get sent off. We need back-ups.

He does not have a long injury list and should recover fast.

However, it seems foolish to play him if his toe is not properly healed. If this is true, it shocks me a bit. A toe fractured can heal quickly. But it can also grow badly if put under too much pressure or force.

I hope a forward comes in the door, Calvert-Lewin needs a cover and a rivalmate.

And the COViD situation in mind it's a gift to Everton. All the best to Dom.

Good news for Everton and let's hope that DCL, makes a full recovery back to full fitness.
