Season › 2021-22 › News Everton U23s are no match for rampant Arsenal Michael Kenrick Friday, 22 October, 2021 27comments | Jump to most recent Arsebnal U23s 4 - 0 Everton U23s David Unsworth's U23 side traveled to London this evening to face Arsenal in the ninth game of their PL2 season. The game kicked off at Meadow Park in Borehamwood at 7pm. A major point of interest was which of the regulars, if any, might be held over to sit on the subs bench at tomorrow's Premier League game against Watford, considering the injury crisis that is challenging Rafa Benitez's first-team management skills. Simms has not been seen for a few weeks and appears to be injured again, while Dobbin seemed a certainty for getting some game time tomorrow. All eyes were on midfielder Tyler Onyango, and he would get 82 minutes to hone his game a little more before possibly covering for the absent Doucouré tomorrow. As for the game itself, Arsenal inflicted a comprehensive 4-0 defeat on Unsworth's proteges — their biggest defeat of a poor season so far. Everton U23s: Tyrer, John, Campbell, Welch, Astley, Warrington, Mills (56' Hughes), Price, Cannon, Onyango (82' Butterfield), Whitaker (77' Hunt). Subs not Used: Barrett, Anderson. Disclaimer Michael Kenrick 1 Posted 22/10/2021 at 18:27:01 Although this link says there is live streaming, this usually does not happen when there is a Premier League game being shown on the telly at the same time...Arsenal U23 Vs Everton U23 Live Streaming Premier League 2, 2021 Dave Williams 2 Posted 22/10/2021 at 18:59:52 Onyango playing so won't be in the squad tomorrow. Likewise young Whitaker. No Dobbin so we may see him tomorrow. Be interesting to hear how Onyango plays tonight. Brent Stephens 3 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:02:05 No Arsenal streaming of this when I use Michael's link. Don Wright 4 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:03:17 We will be hard pushed to hear anything about this game no live stream, and I think the OS do not know we are playing tonight no match centre not even a mention. Brent Stephens 5 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:04:40 Don - match centreLink Brent Stephens 6 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:07:10 But no blog / comments, Don! Don Wright 7 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:11:02 Brent just looked on the Gunners site same thing have we got the right date. Brent Stephens 8 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:13:07 Don, the EFC site lists the two teams so it does seem to be on. Don Wright 9 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:18:49 Yes thanks just looked at the line up apart from the two Welsh lads all the rest are English is that allowed ? Danny O’Neill 10 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:21:24 Take it you've got to sign up for the website on that link? Brent Stephens 11 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:22:37 Danny, I signed up but still couldn't get a stream Tony Everan 12 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:23:37 Danny, they only show selected matches and it seems this isn't being shown. 22 mins played still 0-0. We're playing a 4-3-3 with Onyango on the left mid, Lewis Warrington CM. Can't find anything other than match stats to follow the game. Looks like it will a post-match report at best. Brent Stephens 13 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:27:41 Tony where are you getting ur info from? Danny O’Neill 14 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:29:50 I went through the process Brent. But I always get twitchy whe a "free" website asks for a card number.I've said before you'd think the club would make these available. Definitely to season ticket holders and even the likes of myself who pay membership fees. I'd pay an extra subscription. Match centre it is, although to head put and do the supportive thing and watch Villa with the wife. I'll keep an eye on the phone and updates here. Tony Everan 15 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:30:09 Brent, I just typed arsenal u23 vs Everton u23into google and some basic info comes up, stats, line ups, current score. Brent Stephens 16 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:41:31 Arsenal 1 up apparently Brent Stephens 17 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:44:19 The Everton app has some inf: Match Centre; U23s; Arsenal v Everton..., current score / scorer. Brent Stephens 18 Posted 22/10/2021 at 19:47:15 This site has a ticker with minute-by-minute comments:Link Andrew Keatley 19 Posted 22/10/2021 at 20:12:15 I would be very interested to watch a feed of this if there was one. The Arsenal No 10, Charlie Patino, is getting a lot of heat right now as one to watch – to the extent that my phone just autocorrected his surname to Platini!Hope our lads are giving a good account of themselves. Kieran Kinsella 20 Posted 22/10/2021 at 20:24:34 Andrew,He may be the next Ian Selley. Bill Gall 21 Posted 22/10/2021 at 20:42:21 Arsenal 3 up Tony Everan 22 Posted 22/10/2021 at 20:55:19 Full time 4-0. Although the stats say Arsenal had 5 shots on target and we had 7. So maybe the scoreline doesn't tell the whole story. Danny O’Neill 23 Posted 22/10/2021 at 21:00:40 Ignoring the scoreline, how was the performance? Team and individuals? Brent Stephens 24 Posted 22/10/2021 at 21:05:20 Danny, there was no TV broadcast only text feed so difficult to tell. Tony Everan 25 Posted 23/10/2021 at 07:56:02 Match reportIt does sound like we were not totally outplayed – as the result would suggest. More a case of having the ability to finish clinically. Last night it sounds like Arsenal highlighted the importance of being completely ruthless in front of goal. Jim Bennings 26 Posted 24/10/2021 at 09:15:09 Pretty much sums up the state of the club and the lack of youth good enough.Places needs ripping out from top to bottom. Colin Glassar 27 Posted 24/10/2021 at 09:22:18 In all the years Unsworth has been in charge of the U23s, who has come through the ranks to set the world on fire? Our youth set-up is run by our ‘old boys club'. You know the ones, they understand The Everton Way doctrine propagated by lard-arse Kenwright and his boys. Mediocrity is our game.
