Everton U23s lose last group game in PL Cup at Burnley

Technically, Everton are the current holders of the Premier League Cup as they are the last side to win the competition during the 2018-19 season. In the two seasons that followed, the Premier League Cup was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Not seeing any sign of live streaming for this one, despite the absence of any clash with the Premier League.

Only a Twitter feed apparently, Michael. Yawn.

Be interesting to see who is in the starting line up, hoping against hope Dobbin and Onyango are not in the squad, at least then gives me hope they will be in the squad tomorrow.

With Warrington going out onloan, the two I've been keeping an eye on has been Whittaker and Stanley Mills, both look like they have something about them.

We should at least have a team sheet by now... nothing at all on what Dave refers to as "another Everton fan site".

And there's just so much total shite on Twatter...

Onyango mentioned on Twitter as well, so he's not on tomorrow's bench either.

Gbamin to his credit following the Niasse path and getting some minutes under his belt with the under 23s instead of taking the view he is too high and mighty for such things

Seb Jensen a schoolboy goalkeeper is apparently playing according to Twitter. He is very highly rated but that's a leap ahead of about four other goalkeepers!

The fact the u23's have no genuine LB either (or arguably one IF you count the CB conversion) shows you just how bad the club is from top to bottom……why are we letting a Man U loan and a Spurs freebie placate us? Lost tomorrow and the protests need to start up in earnest again….IF we're going down, go down with a fight.

Everton provide a report on the game but nothing else. No teamsheet. The report mentions more Burnley players than Everton players.

Found a teamsheet of sorts at GrandOldTeam (added to the story up top)... but it's a player short!

There is a video of the Dobbin goal floating around but the quality sucks. They zoom in at the end and I can see Dobbin, Cannon and the big No 7 must be Onyango... or is it Okoronkwo? Any others?

Michael, Okoronkwo played Wed (U18s) so unlikely playing last night?

How did Gbamin play? Brent, Phil, any of you see the game? It would give me some hope if there was at least some positive from the game - Gbamin, Onyango, Dobbin or anybody else, please.

Hi Ajay. Sorry but there was no live stream of the game so I was in the dark on most things (as usual, I hear some say) apart from a few comments I saw on Twitter.

A bit frustrating if you're a statto freak who wants to keep track of the U23 players. The club never did publish the line-up for this game. So I decided to ask them who played. And back came the reply:

"Unfortunately, we do not have a teamsheet for the fixture."

Astounding to me. Just mind-boggling that a professional Category A Development club under the much-heralded Elite Player Performance Plan would actually not know who played in one of their competitive games!

The 10-man line-up from GrandOldTeam was corroborated at Youthhawk and listed up top, but no idea who the missing player was. I think it should have been Kyle John, might have been Stan Mills. Mackenzie Hunt much less likely as I think he was out injured… but could of course be any other name in the U23s or even the upcoming U18s.

ps: Subsequent results in Group D meant Everton slipped to 3rd place and failed to qualify for the knock-out stages of the U23 Premier League Cup this season, meekly surrendering their tenuous hold on the trophy from 3 years ago!
