Ronaldo – Yay or Nay?

Quite simply - now that he’s left Manchester United, would you take him on a free for the remainder of the season... assuming he’d be interested?

I know he is a toxic tosser, but I'd make an approach for Ronaldo.

Desperate times…

Larry,

Championship at best.

Larry, apart from anything else, he's on £500k per week!

He also still wants Champions League football this season, but is he not “Cup Tied”, or is that waived after the group stages?

Rob,

I think that is waived after January to allow players to move in the transfer window without that issue.

He's no Niasse, but I'd take him for a trial.

He's leaving United as he said the owners are idiots, some of his team mates are crap and his manager isn't experienced enough...

So no, I don't imagine Everton is his solution.

As far as iam concerned he can have our No 7 shirt. As long as we win 40points out of 69, stay up.
Say what he wants, do what he wants.
Player manager, don’t care.

He might buy us, player manager.

Put a sun bed in the changing room.

We’re out of the League Cup, he won’t be interested.

Man Utd should have sent him to Everton on loan in January – then he'd know what betrayal was!

Too bloody right I'd take him.

We would go from having no fire power to considerable fire power up front.

A certain kid in the park end won’t want him!
Barry Rathbone
12 Posted 22/11/2022 at 21:23:06
In the last Euros he stopped going past people and avoided challenges at every opportunity. Man Utd signing him despite such obvious decline explains why they are East Lancs Road tits.

He will still score if used as a goal-hanger (the last thing a player loses is technique) but that's not enough for challenging outfits. Cack like us, where no one can hit a cow's arse with a banjo, is a different matter.

Get him in!

Play him up front with Salomon... the Two Ronnies.

Mike G (2) — I assume that is the American humourist in you speaking. Have you seen his goals record?

Rob (3) — a more serious objection. Assuming we can finesse this somehow.

Of course he wouldn't want to come and is poison but we are in trouble goal-wise — in case you hadn't noticed, Mike…

It's all hypothetical because he would never consider us but, if we had the money, if he had the hunger, and if it was for the rest of the season, it would probably work. But as it's a no to all three, then not even on the radar – is it?

Arrogant, petulant and privileged… would probably fit right in!

Derek Thomas

Barry Rathbone @ 12; Exactly.

He's was on £500k X 26 weeks* = £13.5M.

*Plus no longterm contract equals he won't be in the never decreasing deadwood pile

This is a double-edged question - but what sort of striker can you get for £13.5M these days?

How you frame your answer will decide if you're a Yay or a Nay.

I'm a Yay.

He won’t come to us, he met Kenwright once.

Why would one of the greatest players in the game’s history want to end his career alongside Maupay and Demarai Gray?

Meanwhile, I see United are up for sale now. Maybe they can do a BOGOF deal with the Shite?

Tony Everan

Chances are close to zero, he’s surely going to a champions league club. I’m afraid we will just have to find someone else who can score goals for fun.

13.5 m would be peanuts compared to what relegation would cost, so the money wouldn’t be an issue if he wanted to stay in the Northwest for 6 months if his kids are in school here.

Rob Halligan
20 Posted 22/11/2022 at 22:34:14
Tony, can you just imagine the fume on here if Ronaldo really did come to us (Not a cat in hells chance by the way). All the old favourites would be rolled out………….

After a final payday
Topping up his pension
Too old
Another man Utd reject.

Larry #14,

"Have you seen his goals record?"

Really, dude?

Yes, of course, obviously I was joking.

I know most of the sane among us resent the shite WC now on ad nauseam, and I know we all really miss the disappointment/anger/stupid-hope we all endure watching Kenwright's never-ending putrid tenure, but I never realised it was so damaging that someone would post a thread like this.

It's like asking in the 1960's, "IF SHE WAS INTERESTED, would you be willing to shag Raquel Welch?"

Er, yes, but no chance, and meanwhile the real world goes on.

......... with us scuffling about in Australia in search, again (as in again, and again and again) of the ever elusive "magic formula" that will transform us into a team sure to avoid relegation despite squandering way over £half a billion to achieve it.

Be realistic.

Ronaldo wouldn't come here to even take a piss in our lavvy then walk away.

He's going to some Middle Eastern club that will offer a billion quid a week or something mental.

If we’ve got the 15m in wages he’d cost for half a season, use it to go and buy Brereton Diaz. At least he’d be an asset for next 3 years+.

Really think the arse is about to fall out of football finances. United and Liverpool for sale is very telling IMHO. They KNOW the peak is here. Without that superleague theft, there is nowhere else to go.

We got no choice but to invest in attackers in January, but really want to see us start cutting cloth and giving real pathways to the likes of Warrington, Simms, Mills, Cannon, Price, Welsh, Branthwaite, Samuels-Smith et al over the next year.

No, because he's just been suspended for two games because a 14 yr old blue wouldn't pay his image rights when taking his picture 😀

We need to do whatever we can to stay in the Premier League.

I'd have Jackie Weaver at centre-forward if I thought it would guarantee our Premier League status.
