Everton U18s 2 - 1 Liverpool U18s

Everton Under-18s beat neighbours Liverpool in their 9th U18 Premier League game of the season.

Some of the nine U18s who played yesterday for the U21s are selected to start this game, with some new names on the bench, including Joel Catesby and Tim Cahill's son, Shae.

Martin Sherif, who was one of two U18s players sent off at Blackburn last month and appears to have served a 3-match suspension, came back to put the Young Blues ahead just before half-time.

Coby Ebere was on target with 4 minutes left to seal a fine win over the local Reds despite giving up a very late consolation goal.

I've not seen any mention before of Joel Catesby, a midfielder, on the bench, but I expect a lot of these lads are getting pushed up the age groups.

Michael, yes I think you’re right, a first mention for Joel Catesby, in fact I think he’s the first Schoolboy outfield player I’ve seen mentioned this season.

There were nine u18s featuring in yesterdays u21 PL2 Cup draw at home to Birmingham, 1-1, so there are many missing today, although Tierney and Ebere also featured last night. I watched the game on our YouTube, and Paul Tait has said he’s likely to keep a number of u18s with the u21s for PL2 Cup fixtures in November / December.

Oops , sorry I see you’ve got that in.

I can't see anything on the official site. Any links?

Everton won 2-1, Ebere made it 2-0 with four minutes to go and Liverpool got one back in the fourth minute of injury time, courtesy of another Everton website.

Good to beat the RS, at any level and a boost for the u18s and EFC.

Is that two full backs named Wright and Wilson?

Good spot, Alan; yes, they are usually left-backs.

Phill (#7);

No chance they are also Tommy and Ray?

Alan with our luck we’d likely sign Tommy Wilson and Ray Wright 😉. ( Actual names are Charlie Wilson and Harry Wright)
