Paul McParlan is back along with Adam McCulloch and Lyndon Lloyd to dissect the 3-0 humbling at the hands of Brighton, the selection crisis at right-back and just when Sean Dyche will feel moved to switch out some of his trusted lieutenants in favour of more of the summer signings.

I've seen worse. I cited the Wigan FA Cup match, but if I go back further, when there were only 13,000 in attendance. Lord knows how many were left at the end. Grim days.

We've played one match. We've got the weekend to look forward to.

Thanks for the podcast which accurately reflects the mood among most Evertonians this week. I believe our situation will improve but may well get worse before that happens.

Paul is spot on to highlight Ashley Young's position when Mitoma started the move on the edge of his area. Not only was he out of the game on the right but also all our four front players were inside the penalty area.

That left five players to deal with the counterattack including the two central midfielders. Neither Gana nor Iroegbunam had the wherewithal or awareness to block the counter which left our three man rearguard totally exposed.

That was not the only time the central midfield looked wide open. Making the team a compact unit must be the first priority for the manager, especially given our lack of pace in all areas of the field.
