Everton U21s 0 - 0 Ipswich Town U21s

Everton U21s played out a goalless draw in the Premier League Cup against Ipswich Town at Walton Hall Park on Friday evening.

This was the penultimate group game for the Young Blues who sit second in Group F, having picked up 6 points from five matches so far.

Youssef Chermiti got another decent runout, but no score through the first half and the hour mark, when Butterfield and Bates replaced Apter and Jack Patterson.

Bates came very close to breaking the deadlock off an excellent cross from Roman Dixon.

Just watching the toss-up for this and the linesman returned to the sideline stepping sideways as if he were running the line. Bizarre.

I wonder if, when he pops out to make a cuppa at home, he moves quickly to the kitchen with sideways steps? Plenty of energy. Not flagging.

Interesting that it looks like the Everton TV cameras have been moved to the opposite side of the pitch, and at ground level.

Clearly with the forthcoming gust of wind taken into account.

Missed most of the game... the cameras are down in the shelter of the stand, then Rob? And they're normally up on that gantry thing?

The camera is on the side where that small stand is, Michael. The gantry that is normally used is empty.

Still 0-0 but George Pickford in the Everton goal has made a few good saves.

Trying to watch this game, type on TW and watch Burnley v Middlesbrough all at the same time!

Charlie Whitaker through one one-on-one, although a difficult angle, slams the ball against the post, and Ipswich clear the ball.

Probably should have scored though.

Yea, he shoulda scored then.

The only Jose I can think of is Baxter – is that who's on comms with Dazza?

Another important stop by George there...

Joseph Baxter on the most scouse 'i can't be arsed' co-commentary of all time

Seems there's a lot more effort and intensity than we normally see at this level.

Not been impressed by Roman Dixon at all.

Looked miles off it both ways.

He does have a real scouse down-in-the-mouth monotone, eh, Liam!

If that's Dixon on an off day, I can't wait to see him on a good one!

Finished 0-0. Conditions looked terrible, with corner flags at the end we were defending second half almost horizontal with the pitch.

George Pickford MOTM, with a few good saves, and a good double save towards the end.

Aye, Rob. It should be interesting tomorrow as the weather deteriorates further.
