Season › 2024-25 › News Everton vs Bournemouth, FA Cup Preview Anjishnu Roy 07/02/2025 19comments | Jump to last ToffeeWeb Everton will face Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup on home soil having won three Premier League fixtures on the bounce under new manager David Moyes. Less than a month ago, Everton went into their third-round FA Cup tie against Peterborough United without a manager and with relegation concerns surrounding the side. However, goals from Beto and Iliman Ndiaye secured a 2-0 victory for the Toffees. Article continues below video content The tables have also turned for the better for Everton who welcomed former boss David Moyes back with open arms and he has brought in an immediate uptick in form. Although his second spell at Goodison Park began with a loss to Aston Villa, they have won three on the trot since then, becoming the first team outside the top eight in the Premier League to manage this feat, while scoring eight goals in the process. With a comfortable cushion of nine points between them and the relegation zone, while having a game in hand over the other contenders at the bottom, Everton will now turn their sights toward having a strong cup run. The Toffees haven’t reached a major final since 2009 and the last time that they won the FA Cup was 30 years ago. Taking on Andoni Iraola’s impressive Bournemouth side at home ought to be advantageous. Everton have won eight of their last 10 FA Cup matches at Goodison Park but the nightmares of a fourth-round loss to Luton Town last season might be fresh in the minds of the supporters. Bournemouth have also caused the Toffees headaches lately, having won seven of the last nine matches between the two teams including the two Premier League fixtures this season. It was at Goodison Park where Everton spectacularly imploded against Bournemouth back in August. Leading 2-0 in the 87th minute, the Cherries scored three goals in quick succession to stun the hosts in the Premier League. Seamus Coleman has struggled with injuries this season and is expected to be out for this contest. Everton continue to miss reliable names in the forward line with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja, and Youssef Chermiti all out for a considerable period. The Toffees will also miss Orel Mangala and Dwight McNeil. Beto is likely to start following his impressive brace against Leicester City a week ago while fan favourite Iliman Ndiaye is undroppable at the moment. New loan signing Carlos Alcaraz could also make his Everton debut here. Disclaimer () Mark Murphy 1 Posted 07/02/2025 at 14:33:21 Just arrived at Lime street and looking forward to a great weekend.🤞Lime street is full of reds going home and they are absolutely full of it! I fervently hope we beat them next week but even more importanter than that, we win the FA cup and shut them, and the skunks, in one glorious blow.Full strength please David Moyes -feed Beto raw meat before the game and bring him off when hes scored his two and promise his hat trick chance against the shite!UTFT Christy Ring 2 Posted 07/02/2025 at 14:59:51 Listening to Moyes press conference, o think hell make a few changes tomorrow, with the game on Wednesday. I wouldnt mind seeing Dixon, Tim and Sherif starting, especially with only one striker available. I watched a clip of Van DICK elbow on Richarlison last night, and hit was definitely deliberate, of course Pawson played on. Then he made a laugh of him later, offering to give him a hand up, and then pulling it away, a horrible person. Derek Knox 3 Posted 07/02/2025 at 15:27:16 Christy, yes he is intrinsically a good defender (Van Dick) but always like most of the R S team resort to physical abuse or inversely histrionics if on the receiving end. Thing is, they always seem to get away with it, surely everyone bar us can see that too !Moyes's presser seemed to indicate he is taking the Cup match seriously and almost hinted that Alcaraz was match fit but didn't commit to naming him as a starter, or the team. I pretty much suspect he will start with a similar team to the Leicester one.I am under no illusions that they will be easy opposition, but the same attitude that has been in the last 3 games, will augur well. Tom Bowers 4 Posted 07/02/2025 at 15:51:34 It's always nice to win games but it would be particularly nice to put one over on Bournemouth tomorrow, a team that has bee a pain in the neck since we beat them with Doucoure's rocket which enabled us to avoid relegation two seasons back. They will be on the rebound after the RS put them in their place last week but they are a decent team so we have to maintain the high standard work rate we showed last week to get by them.Whenever we start to think of a good cup run we get stung but hopefully being away from the relegation zone will allow them to do well in the Cup, the real Cup not the Mickey Mouse one. Danny O'Neill 5 Posted 07/02/2025 at 15:53:48 Well, I'm going to have to be first to ask, as the curiosity is getting to me. Can Anjishnu Roy stand up and be identified?!!! Or have I missed something?More Moyes sentiment, that we could do without having it rammed down our throats every article. I think we've all moved on and don't have to keep discussing it.I'm looking forward to tomorrow. We've put ourselves in a healthy position in the league, but still have a lot to do.I will be travelling up tomorrow morning with my son, meeting my brother at Lime Street. As I've mentioned to a couple of people offline, a real weekend of cultural differences for me this weekend.Tonight I'm going to the theatre in Royal Windsor to watch a play adaptation of 'Boys from the Blackstuff' with friends who live in a Buckinghamshire village. I'm intrigued, I've not watched it since the original television screening in the 80s.Early start tomorrow to get the train and before you know it, we'll be on County Road and inbound to Goodison.I hope the manager takes this seriously and the team likewise to put us one step further to Wembley Way. Jay Harris 6 Posted 07/02/2025 at 16:09:51 Just watched the press conference and was immediately struck by how relaxed and affable Moyes was compared to SD who seemed as if he just didnt want to be here such was the pressure.I am sure that rubs off on the players and they play with more confidence and less pressure. He seemed to say he would take the cup game and the derby seriously so expect a strong team for both.I believe he will give Alcaraz some time on the pitch whether that be tomorrow or Wednesday. Mark Murphy 7 Posted 07/02/2025 at 16:35:23 “Anjishnu Roy”?Sorry mate - I dont get it? Who / what is that? Mike Gaynes 8 Posted 07/02/2025 at 16:37:45 Mark, he/she is the author of two articles just posted on TW. I've not seen that name here previously. Mike Hayes 9 Posted 07/02/2025 at 16:41:47 Good to see Alcatraz is available to play be good to see how he plays. Going for a 2-0 win with Beto to score again 💙 Robert Leigh 10 Posted 07/02/2025 at 16:45:35 Would like to see a strong starting 11, to keep up momentum and give us something to enjoy until the end of the season now we're looking more stable in the league. Give Gana a rest because he's played almost every minute for a while, and with a big game midweek it seems prudent:Pickford O'Brien - Tarkowski - Branthwaite - MykoLindstrom - Iroegbunam - Garner - N'diayeDoucoure BetoGive Garner the last half hour off as necessary, dropping Douc deeper for Alcaraz to come on or give Gana a 30 minute workout.COYB!!! Danny O'Neill 11 Posted 07/02/2025 at 16:48:20 Yes Mike G@8. One has been removed by the looks of it. Or I can't see it anymore.I'm glad it wasn't just me. I thought for a moment the whole AI / Bot saga had resurfaced!!! Jeff Armstrong 13 Posted 07/02/2025 at 17:06:41 Changing tack slightly, the City council have well and truly left any car drivers up the swanney yesterday with the new no parking zones around BMD, no parking within 35 minutes walk of the ground.I was nearby last night at the Legends event at Blackstock market (which was excellent btw Sheedy, Ratcliffe and Reidy were on fine form) loads of derelict and unused buildings around so parking no problem, thought this would do fine for the test event at least, but no chance, LCC have for some reason wiped out any parking opportunities for everyone with their “zonal marking”Blackstock have come out today and said it will kill businesss around who have basically set up to capitalise on the new stadium and invested thousands to be in the area.I understand the need to protect residents on matchdays but this blanket approach is ridiculous as the zones only have about 40% residential areas covered, the rest is either businesses that dont operate at night or weekends, and would seize the opportunity to become temporary car parks, or derelict wasteland areas which the council could make match day income from with roadside parking. Danny O'Neill 14 Posted 07/02/2025 at 17:10:26 Thanks Brian.I thought Michael had changed his name!! Simon Harrison 15 Posted 07/02/2025 at 17:10:56 Mike G, Brian, I wonder if Anjishnu Roy is giving a break, or taking the load for Lyndon, while Lyndon gets his 'Evertonia' site up to speed?MK have you any info that you'd be willing to share with the TW crowd? Is everything OK between you and Lyndon? Jonathan Oppenheimer 16 Posted 07/02/2025 at 17:13:23 Hate to be this cynical, but it feels like a Chat GPT article about the transfer window, especially coming from someone no one here knows. Would be great to keep our momentum going tomorrow. I like Roberts call for the starting XI tomorrow and subs, but also important to get Harrison some minutes. He hasnt done much of late, but were not far from needing him at some point and got to keep any shred of confidence up.A win tomorrow keeps spirits high heading into the derby. Not into predictions, but Im thinking 2-1 should do the trick. Jeff Armstrong 17 Posted 07/02/2025 at 17:14:05 Roy, now theres a surname to provoke media hysteria, anyone watched Succession? Mike Gaynes 18 Posted 07/02/2025 at 17:14:23 Simon, did you know that in all these years, Lyndon and Michael never met in person? Simon Harrison 19 Posted 07/02/2025 at 17:19:12 Seriously Mike? This site has been going since 1994 hasn't it? So, in near 21 years, and MK and LL have never met? My flabber has been well and truly gasted!?I'm just wondering with LL starting a 'rival' Toffee forum, that maybe there has been a 'separation' unless it is an attempt the keep TW as the more general site, and looking at Evertonia, it seems to be more a reporting based style, with podcast attached.I'm just guessing, and I'm sure I'll get rebuked soon enough.
