Season › 2024-25 › News Evacuation Procedure set to be tested at the Everton Stadium on Sunday Anjishnu Roy 18/03/2025 44comments | Jump to last Everton will host the second test event at the Everton Stadium in Bramley-Moore Dock on March 23 where the club’s U21s will take on Bolton Wanderers B. This test event, set to host nearly 25,000 fans, will also feature an evacuation procedure which is necessary to obtain the safety licence for the venue that will serve as the club’s home ground from next season. The new stadium opened its doors to fans for the first time on February 17 as 10,000 lucky Evertonians witnessed the U18s take on Wigan Athletic. The planned test events are necessary for the club to obtain the licence and safety certificates to operate the stadium at its full capacity of 52,888. Tickets for the second test event have already been sold out. As part of the evacuation procedure, fans will be asked to evacuate the stadium during the second-half and before the full-time whistle is blown. Spectators will be safely guided out of the stadium and have already been informed not to congregate in groups outside. They will be asked to leave like they would after a match comes to an end and once outside, they can’t return back inside. The entire process will help emergency services and local authorities plan a large-scale evacuation of the site in case of an emergency. Supporters have been requested to follow the rules to fulfil the purpose of the second test event. Everton are currently discussing with local transport authorities how to manage the flow of people away from Bramley-Moore Dock. The event will kick off at 2:00 pm local time and those attending the game have been advised to avoid the Kingsway Tunnel which will be fully closed from 7:00 pm onwards. The Queensway Tunnel will remain open as usual. Reader Comments (44) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Brian Williams 2 Posted 18/03/2025 at 17:26:03 Danny. I'll be travelling from the Wirral. Train to James Street, walk to BMD.Same in reverse at the end. No problem, no drama, mate. Nigel Scowen 3 Posted 18/03/2025 at 17:35:00 Brian @2,I would say it's no worse than it is now, Brian. Currently it's a train to Moorfields, change for a train to Kirkdale, and then walk 15 minutes to Goodison. Brian Williams 4 Posted 18/03/2025 at 19:59:56 Exactly Nigel. I'd like to see the stadium that exists where it's NOT chaotic as 40k plus people leave at the same time. Ray Roche 5 Posted 18/03/2025 at 20:09:48 I still havent had any information or ticket despite being told that I was successful in the ballot! Ian Bennett 6 Posted 18/03/2025 at 20:21:08 Mine came tonight, Ray, on email. Danny O'Neill 7 Posted 18/03/2025 at 20:22:02 I have the confirmation email and the details about the evacuation Ray. The club told me yesterday that the digital tickets will be emailed in the next couple of days.Going to the wire!! Allen Rodgers 8 Posted 18/03/2025 at 20:38:25 Danny, going by other forums, I think most people have had the email today. I got mine at 4:12 pm. I've downloaded my ticket via the Everton App, whether it will work at the turnstile is another question. Liam Mogan 9 Posted 18/03/2025 at 20:39:01 Not sure what all the fuss is about. I christened the ground with my own evacuation procedure at the first test game. Mike Gaynes 10 Posted 18/03/2025 at 20:45:11 Liam, I had a similar joke in preparation, something about testing the toilets. You're too quick. Mike Connolly 11 Posted 18/03/2025 at 20:51:04 Does anyone know whether we will be able to purchase the plastic card to get in next season. I prefer it being a Dinosaur. Also easy to pass to your mates when you can't attend. I really hope this option will be available. Ian Bennett 12 Posted 18/03/2025 at 21:05:23 The club phoned my dad, to ask him if he was okay walking to the top tier of the new stadium. He asked if he could still do plastic cards, and you can, but they're not keen on dolling them out. Mike Connolly 13 Posted 18/03/2025 at 21:50:40 They normally charge you for dolling them out.Shouldn't be a problem. walking to the top tier Ian thought they had escalators. It will be like fucking Newcastle every game. That waiting list will dwindle… they will have to have quite a few defibrillators ready at the top! Danny O'Neill 14 Posted 18/03/2025 at 21:55:42 I've scaled those 190+ steps at Newcastle, only to realise there was a lift afterwards!! Mike Connolly 15 Posted 18/03/2025 at 22:01:27 Where did you find the lift Danny. I seen my mate halfway up the Stairs At Newcastle night match. I said how long have you been there. he said since 5 oclock. Horrendous. never been back since you need an Iron lung to get up them stairs Danny O'Neill 16 Posted 18/03/2025 at 22:16:44 People of the older persuasion who made the climb were resting on the way up Mike.I didn't find it, a Newcastle mate told me afterwards. Not to mention needing binoculars to watch the match. Apparently they get away with that for some reason as away supporters should be accommodated with at least part the section close to the pitch. Danny O'Neill 17 Posted 18/03/2025 at 22:28:22 Mike Connolly 18 Posted 18/03/2025 at 22:53:13 spot on Mike like watching a subuto match. Ted Roberts 19 Posted 18/03/2025 at 23:03:43 Got my digital ticket today for East Stand Upper.I opted for this position so that I can hopefully get to see and feel the full magnitude of the stadium, looking down rather then looking up from the lower pitch side seating, where,in reality, I would opt for if lucky enough to get a match day ticket next season. This venture into the dizzy heights of Everton Stadium will definitely be a one off,69 is a bit late to be getting adventurous.Looking forward to the visit, virtual views and drone views cant replicate the reality, only drawback is that it will be a longer walk down to facilitate the evacuation process.Ah well, what goes up,must come down,so they say.:) Eric Myles 20 Posted 19/03/2025 at 01:00:46 Will they be announcing "Operation Goodison commences?" Danny O'Neill 21 Posted 19/03/2025 at 06:30:37 A new era Eric @20. Change is coming. "Operation Bramley Moore"!!My ticket came through yesterday evening. I'm in the lower South Stand. Ray Roche 22 Posted 19/03/2025 at 08:23:12 Got my ticket this morning! Like others, I would much prefer a card type ST. I dont know why the club dont offer this choice like before, it cost them nothing because they charged us for it. Brian Williams 23 Posted 19/03/2025 at 08:34:10 Ray#22Here's why.LinkIf you don't want to read the lot:Will I have to use a Digital ticket? League rules will require clubs to ensure that Season Tickets and all Home and Away Match Tickets by default are made available as digital tickets. Clubs will retain some discretion to make some tickets available in other formats to supporters who have reasonable grounds to request them. This may include supporters who have a disability that makes the purchase or use of digital tickets challenging. Other examples include some group bookings, such as school or Club Community partners. Danny O'Neill 24 Posted 19/03/2025 at 08:47:51 I believe there are escalators Ted.Ray, when my brother asked, it seemed that a card was possible, but I'm not sure how many they are willing to issue and he thought it came with an additional fee on top of the digital version. He was going to try and get it for me as back up, in event of losing my phone. It seems the majority of clubs are now encouraging supporters to go digital. I had one at League 2 Bromley the other week. I quite like it.Bramley Moore related, but aside from the event and practice evacuation, I'm looking forward to seeing the plaza and the Everton Way. I don't know the plans, but I hope in the not too distant future, the club are considering putting club shop in place and it would be good to have a museum. Not a display like in the club shop at Goodison, but a proper museum. Talking of memorabilia, whatever happened to the Littlewoods clocks? One of them would take a place on the plaza, if they're still kicking around somewhere. Although we're moving to a brave new future, there's nothing wrong with taking a bit of Goodison history with us. Allen Rodgers 25 Posted 19/03/2025 at 08:58:15 Ray, as Brian says the club have some discretion. My argument is they have taken our money for next seasons ST. Can they reasonably refuse access to the stadium to people who have a non-compatible phone or even no phone at all. Digital tickets is the default option. It shouldn't rule out other methods i.e. cards. Alan McGuffog 26 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:08:49 We, ordinary everyday people, have walked into a future whereby it's increasingly impossible to function without a smartphone. Wonder how and why that has been encouraged ?I never used to be a Grassy Knollist but I find myself wearing my aluminium foil hat more and more. Tony Abrahams 27 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:17:40 Its sickening Alan. Everything is about speed nowadays, and the faster it goes, then the less time people seem to have to concentrate on the small print🤷♂️ Dave Abrahams 28 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:23:24 My grandson must be getting mine, I was supposed to be going with Tony on Sunday but hes not going so my grandson said hed go with me then he went off it so my great grandson has stepped in and up to now Im going with him——Ive started using nice smelling shampoos and washing liquids when Im getting a shower as well as as using plenty of deodorants! Danny O'Neill 29 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:34:25 We have Alan. And it has bred a generation who are so engrossed and glued to their phones that it is an extension of their body, even when walking down a busy street. Fine, a quick check, but looking down and not looking where they are going grips me as if I wasn't watching, they'd walk into me. Absolutely no spatial awareness.I am royally screwed if I forget or misplace my phone. Match tickets, train tickets, rail card, flight tickets when I travel abroad. All on an App!! Online banking; I can do just about everything on the Apps that I can do on a PC or laptop. Mark Murphy 30 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:34:30 According to my Brighton supporting mate they are all digital but also they are non transferable for away games. So if the holder cant make the away they either dont apply for one or if they have already, they have to give it back to the club for resale rather than pass it on to a mate. I hope this doesnt happen with us as Id never get another away ticket if it does but I can see it happening in the future. Scott Hamilton 31 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:37:21 Im pretty sure my bowels will be testing an evacuation process of their own whilst I watch the derby on 2nd April. Brian Harrison 32 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:52:59 For all those going to the second test event I am sure you will love the new stadium and the outside concourse it certainly has the wow factor. I said to my Sons and Grandson who all attended the first test event I don't want to go again till the first team are playing and its a full house. Maybe a pre season friendly or the actual first Premier league game look like my options. I had seen all the drone footage but nothing prepares you for when you actually get to see it for the first time, it just looks enormous compared to Goodison. Dave Abrahams 33 Posted 19/03/2025 at 09:59:24 Danny( 29) Danny you cracked it there about people walking about glued to their phones especially in crowded areas, I come out of the Bullens Road stands after the game and if I dont pay full attention Id be knocked all over the bleedin place, same in town, people of all ages are like robots programmed to where they are going in a straight line——a good job Im an awful nice happy fella or Id be tempted to twat some of them with my walking stick! Brian Williams 34 Posted 19/03/2025 at 10:20:35 Dave #33,Hear, hear.Thing is, one of the numpties would film you doing it on their phone and I'd end up having to bring you cakes in Walton. Alan McGuffog 35 Posted 19/03/2025 at 10:27:48 There's an App that a lot of young people have on their phones now. It sends a warning bleep when they're about to walk under a bleedin' bus! Dave Abrahams 36 Posted 19/03/2025 at 10:50:25 Alan (35),I'd ban them warning bleeps and let them walk under the bleedin' bus! Not really but you know what I mean.Brian (34), One fella was pushing his friend or relative in a wheelchair with one eye on his mobile! Ted Roberts 37 Posted 19/03/2025 at 12:11:30 Phew!! Danny thats a relief. Ray Roche 38 Posted 19/03/2025 at 13:24:06 Allen, Brian, Danny, thanks for your input, I will try for a card type. 👍🏻 They can only say no.I am thinking of emailing the club to suggest running a shuttle service from Goodison. Most people have arrangements for visiting Goodison so they could continue with them and remove the parking problem from the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. Allen Rodgers 39 Posted 19/03/2025 at 13:46:45 Ray, I've spoken to someone at the club this morning. I was told a limited number of cards will be issued on a case-by-case basis towards the end of this season. Danny O'Neill 40 Posted 19/03/2025 at 16:25:51 I think I read somewhere that The Brick are putting one on, Ray. That was specifically for the test, but maybe it's something they will continue. Not just the parking issue, but a lot of the pubs and businesses will be looking at how they can entice people to still go to their regular haunts around Goodison. For some, I see it being a transition period before some giving up their traditional matchday rituals. Danny O'Neill 41 Posted 19/03/2025 at 16:38:30 I stand corrected. Every home game to Bramley-Moore Dock from the Brick. Just found it again. David Cooper 42 Posted 20/03/2025 at 20:21:59 Any news of the game being streamed live? Paul Hughes 43 Posted 20/03/2025 at 22:08:41 I emailed the club about card season tickets. One of the group I am seated with doesn't have a smartphone and has no intention of getting one. The club gave a very friendly reply saying that card tickets would be available once all the ticket sales have been completed. We'll see, I guess. Liam Mogan 44 Posted 20/03/2025 at 22:26:36 My take on the card thing is that its all about controlling who goes in the ground? With a physical copy you can pass it to who you like if you can't go. With a digital one you can only transfer it to another person with an Everton membership or re-sell it through Everton. Again to another member. I don't think it's any coincidence that you have to pay to be a member. The only way around it is to give your phone to someone as season tickets can only be downloaded onto one phone.
