Everton’s player development coach Dan Micciche is set to leave the club next month and will take up a new opportunity in Saudi Arabia next season. The club confirmed Micicche’s departure on Tuesday.

Having worked for Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, MK Dons, Crawley Town, and the Football Association before joining Everton in 2023, Micciche is set to become head of academy at Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.

“Dan will be leaving the club in May after deciding to take up a new opportunity abroad. I’d like to thank him for the work he has done during his time at Everton and wish him well for the future,” said Everton Academy Director Gareth Prosser.

At Everton, he had three key responsibilities in the role of player development lead: aiding the transition of players from the academy to the first team, working with players who are out on loan, and doing individual development work with players.

It has been reported that the offer from Al Ahli, who employ superstars like Roberto Firmino, Ivan Toney, Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy, Franck Kessie, Merih Demiral and Roger Ibanez in the first team, was too good to pass on.

Everton will be looking for a Head of Emerging Talent to take over Micicche’s position in the academy.

I believe James Vaughan is leaving as well — good luck to both.

Mike, I am not surprised with Vaughan's potential departure: typical clean-house with Kinnear's impending arrival. We also don't have as many players to loan out like Chelsea (!), so we don't have to have a designated staff like Vaughan to track their progress. =D

I am also curious if other key player development staff that Thelwell brought in (most notably, the highly-regarded duo of Darlington and Prosser) will be retained under the new regime.

Anyone know who the physio is who comes on when we have an injury, he seems to have outlasted about 8 managers.
