Jarrad Branthwaite open to discuss a new contract with the club

On today’s episode of “Where’s Jarrad going?” comes a positive development for Everton as the youngster is open to discussing a new contract with the club. However, keeping him beyond this season could still be a mammoth task.

New owners The Friedkin Group are likely to face an uphill battle with Real Madrid and Liverpool circling around Branthwaite’s camp and offering large sums for the services of the 22-year-old, who has a contract with the Blues until the summer of 2027.

He was also the subject of multiple bids from INEOS-owned Manchester United last summer though they failed to match the club’s final asking price. That asking price is only expected to rise going into the next transfer window following Branthwaite’s strong partnership with captain James Tarkowksi at the back.

Everton’s upturn in form under David Moyes, however, could prove to be crucial as Branthwaite has recently shown interest in hearing Everton’s offer. Vicky Gommarsall on Sky Sports News said, “Jarrad Branthwaite would be open to discussing a new contract with the club, but they are going to fight to keep the defender this summer.

“The England centre-back is expected to have intense interest from a number of top clubs around Europe, including several in the Champions League – Liverpool, Man City and Spurs are among those to track Branthwaite. Real Madrid are said to have sent scouts.

“Everton would like to keep him long-term, but dispute the new ownership improving their financial parameters, sources have indicated that it is unlikely Everton could match the muscle of those clubs getting ready to make offers for the player.”

The question of whether to keep or sell Jarrad Branthwaite for the right price is likely to dominate much of Everton’s summer transfer window. He has been an absolute rock at the back and replacing him will be a difficult proposition. At the same time, Everton will also need money to pour into the squad since several members of the starting XI are loan players and Branthwaite’s exit could fund a massive squad rebuild.

"Real Madrid and Liverpool circling around Branthwaite’s camp and offering large sums for the services of the 22-year-old"

They shouldn't be talking to Branthwaite's "camp" at all, he's contracted to Everton and if they're interested in signing him have to meet the Club valuation before they can talk to his "camp".

The shite can circle as much as they like, because there's no chance of him going there.

Here we go then. Time for the journalist sharks to start circling.

The club will decide.

Fingers crossed the offer we make will be enough to convince him to sign. No matter where he goes he’s guaranteed first team football. He’s been forming a good partnership with Tarkowski, might not be easy to find a replacement. Maybe Moyes can persuade him to sign. We need to build the team around him, O’Brien Ndiaye and buy Alcaraz, Gueye for a 1 year extension?
Hope Chermiti comes good. Go the foundation to build a good team with them and adding a few more for squad depth.

The club needs to offer and get Branthwaite to commit to a long extension to his current deal on much improved terms, if that includes a release fee at or around the £80m mark then so be it.

Jarrad is a valued club asset and the club would likely prefer he stays to build a team around him. However the club also needs to ensure that valued assets are looked after to maximise their value if a player is to be sold.

His current contract runs upto 2027 so his market value falls the closer the run upto the end of his contract, hopefully TFG will run the club properly and not allow this situation to drag on too long.

This lad is right up there, top class already, and will only improve.

PSR might actually work in our favour for once in that most clubs won't be able to stump up the kind of money we'd want for him. Also, O'Brien will be happy just to be playing for the moment but no doubt he at least sees himself as Tarkowski's replacement.

So he will be off because we are a selling club..

Have to sign him up to a long term deal and give him a good wedge.
This is a guy we need to keep and build our future around.
An £80million sell on fee is ridiculous these days, it has to be far greater with an annual increase.
I appreciate some teams can offer him more opportunity of winning stuff but if TFG show vision and dosh after moving in to BMD hopefully Branthwaite will see the future
What does going to United offer him?
The owners and the INEOS cowboy are destroying a Club already shite and are light years from competing with the elite
Only real option for him is Real Madrid but can’t see them stumping up the money

Moyes has plans to bring in new players this summer, and with our new owners hopefully bringing us to the next level and moving into our fabulous new stadium, keeping Branthwaite and giving him an improved contract, should be Moyes first task. Tarkowski is 33 this year, so O'Brien should be replacing him.

I'm sure a lot of these rumours originate from somewhere in Carlisle...

Hope he signs, he stays another 10 years in a trophy laden Everton career.

More realistically the new owners will be happy to sell at a large profit, £50M plus.

A good left footed CB are never easy to find but I wonder if Myko could convert. He's not a great defender or attacking full back but his positional sense has improved and I think he may continue to improve in the centre as we need 2 better attacking fullbacks for both sides.

Keeping hold of him is key. A real highlight of last season and starting to look back to his best.

With Tarkowski looking like he maybe losing a bit of quality as age catches up, Keane must be out the door now, Holgate never getting a chance again, and Godfrey gone, we need to be keeping our best cdntre-back and getting in cover.

Him and big Jake as a pairing looks promising. Both are relatively fast for centre-backs and both have an air of calmness on the ball. They are young and could, if the club can make progress, be a pairing for many years.

Justin,

Mykolenko won't even be a consideration.

Fast tall cbs 6'-4" plus are the order of the day.

Mykolenko is neither fast nor tall enough and it wouldn't surprise me if we replaced him at left-back.

Harrison and Lindstrom are taking some flak but it is the full-backs behind them that are the real weak link imo.

We must do everything possible to keep Jarrad and surround him with quality reinforcements.
