James Tarkowski, Everton centre-back, often so reliable in the key moments but, every now and then, liable to the odd reckless lunge or moment of madness.
Although it would be fair to say he has not been at his very best so far in Everton's 2025-26 season, that durability and dependability make him a manager’s dream, especially in a position that relies so heavily on consistency in selection and performances.

Maybe, and hopefully that will return, but like all human beings, and footballers too, apart from the odd enigma, the demands on the physical side cannot be dealt with as they were a few years ago.
