Against Doncaster Rovers, he scored the opening goal in a 2-1 victory. Okoronkwo guided a header into the net to give Lincoln the lead, setting the Imps on the road to victory.
Imps manager Michael Skubala praised Okoronkwo after the final whistle, suggesting that he turned in an ‘amazing' performance. Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Skubala hailed Okoronkwo for an ‘excellent' first-half display. Skubala highlighted Okoronkwo's effort and work rate, but also his intelligence in the box as he scored a fine header.
“I thought he was amazing today,” said Skubala. “He's not had many starts, but I thought he was really good.
“He's a young lad, but his first half performance was excellent. What Frankie gives you is effort and work rate, but you saw his quality today, and you saw him getting across the front of people, and he took his goal very well,” he added.
Okoronkwo had a golden chance to make it 2-0 as he was given an opportunity to slot the ball into an empty net.The Everton loanee contrived to fire the ball wide of the target, with Okoronkwo later telling BBC Radio Lincolnshire that his shot is a contender for ‘miss of the season'.
“It could be miss of the season, but I'm just glad we got the three points,” said Okoronkwo as he laughed off his gaffe.
