James Garner and David Moyes have been nominated for Premier League awards for the month of March.

Garner, who received his maiden senior England call-up during this international break, has been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Month award while David Moyes, who led the Blues to victories over Burnley and Chelsea, has received a Manager of the Month nomination.

For Moyes, the highlight of the month was beating Chelsea 3-0 to ensure lift-off at Hill Dickinson Stadium. It was one of the Toffees’ finest performances of the season and saw them maintain their eighth position in the standings with 46 points - three shy of Liverpool in fifth.

The Toffees also held their own against league leaders Arsenal away from home before suffering a double blow right at the end. They remain in the hunt for European qualification with fifth place expected to be enough to make it to the Champions League next season.

Mikel Arteta, Eddie Howe, Fabian Hurzeler and Regis Le Bris are nominated along with the Everton boss.

Meanwhile, the latest nomination adds to what has been a momentous couple of weeks for Garner. He earned a first senior England call-up last week, provided the assist for Beto’s opener against Chelsea and is now in the running for a Premier League player of the month award.

The 24-year-old also played at right-back against Arsenal and had registered an assist against Burnley as well. He is competing with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Gordon, Alex Iwobi, David Raya and Danny Welbeck for the award.

Speaking of awards, I hope Coleman and O'Brien get their reward tonight, both starting for Ireland.

Absolutely Christy.

C‘mon you boys in green.

Christy (1),

I always root for Ireland because of the number of Irish players Everton had back in the 40s and 50s and we have two now. But sadly, Ireland, like Scotland, are not producing the large number of great and very good players that played for the top clubs in England and I think they will continue to struggle in the future.

Sad times from the great day me and my wife enjoyed in Dublin when they welcomed home Jackie Charlton and his squad from a very successful World Cup campaign.

“The crowds singing “Set them up Jack” and my wife asking me “Who's Jack, Dave, who's Jack?”

Jesus, girl, you are very good at housekeeping but not the least bit interested in football -- even though you knew I loved Everton more than you!

Just read a great piece by Seamus Coleman in the Echo, I don't buy the Echo but this was on X.

Seamus starts by saying, "We now have a manager who cares as much about this club as I do."

He goes on to say "Thanks for the hard work of many people, we've been able to get into our magnificent new stadium."

He says, "In David Moyes, we have the perfect manager to lead us into a new era, he once again has showed his ability by the way we are playing."

Seamus says, "He gets this football club and what it means to play for this club.

"He has changed, he was a tough operator, maybe more mellow but when he needs to show he is the boss, he does."

Seamus goes on to say "The 15 years he has been here hasn't always been easy. Maybe if I hadn't lived in the City, I might not have understood what supporting this team means."

He goes on to say that he makes sure every new player is made aware how important our supporters are to this club and he said, "I remind them every day."

Just a brilliant captain who cares as much as any supporter. Maybe his playing career is coming to a close but I am sure Seamus will be here for many years to come.

Brian, yes, I knew when he got back here that professionalism would return and he'd give it everything.

What I hadn't banked on was he'd instantly deliver the best away record in the league, and that we'd be fighting for a Champions League spot in April as the form team.

That team he took over had scored 2 goals in 10 games. For him to have got to where we are in little over a year is remarkable, and I find it genuinely perplexing when people steam into him the way they do. It's very fucking odd.

Yes, the home form hasn't been great, but does anyone really think that it'll stay like this? That he won't fix that too? His whole career has been based on solid home form, but it takes time to build a squad, it can't all be fixed at once.

Like Seamus, Ossie, Bainsey and all the other stalwarts, including that know nothing Lineker, I think he's proven he's the chap to lead us for the next few years. Hip Hip?

Dave #3 Lovely post.

By the way, the Irish media and papers are raving about Coleman's performance last night. He played 95 minutes and was outstanding.

I can't believe why he hasn't started in the first team, especially as he's been on the bench for the last while.

Has Moyes been saving him for his international games, Christy?

After all, we're doing okay with O'Brien there instead.

Ryan,

They can add a stability clause into the contract. And a no pressure to win trophies clause.
