Review Everton's campaigns in recent seasons

2024-25

In Goodison Park's farewell season, Dyche bids for a year of stability and consolidation, hopefully under new owners

2023-24

Yet another boss in the form of Sean Dyche embarks on what he hopes will be his first full season at the helm but the challenges remain daunting.

2022-23

Having seen the Blues to safety in 2021-22, Frank Lampard begins his first full season in charge.

2021-22

Another new managerial tenure begins as Rafael Benitez takes the reins.

2020-21

Ancelotti's only full season in charge was pregnant with expectation of a promised "evolution" but ultimately ended in failure.

2019-20

Silva's tenure collapses, Ferguson steadies the ship for Ancelotti before the pandemic forces the season to be suspended and then extended into the summer.

2018-19

Another new era begins as Marco Silva takes the helm under Director of Football, Marcel Brands.

2017-18

A season of utter turmoil as Lukaku leaves, Rooney returns, Koeman implodes, Unsworth struggles and the unpopular Allardyce reprises his "Fireman Sam" role.

2016-17

The Ronald Koeman era and the first full season with the backing of Farhad Moshiri's financial muscle begins.

2015-16

A tough start sets the scene for another long hard season in the unforgiving Premier League that eventually saw Roberto Martinez lose his job.

2014-15

Dreaded second-season syndrome bites Martinez with the added pressure of Europa League competition this time.

2013-14

Roberto Martinez assumes the helm after the Moyes era and ends the campaign with a record points haul and re-entry into Europe.

2012-13

A better start but Europe was once more elusive in David Moyes's last season in charge.

2011-12

No new transfers and an aging side has trouble getting going before Christmas... but Jelavic, Donovan and Pienaar inspire a stirring New Year rise to 7th

2010-11

Huge promise scuppered by a lousy start: bottom in September, the Blues climb to a respectable 7th place finish on fewer points and goals than last season.

2009-10

Another absolutely dreadful start... but after Christmas, Everton turn on the form, yet cannot finish any higher than 8th

2008-09

A dreadful start belies a very creditable 5th-place finish again, this time with a resilient run to the FA Cup Final.

2007-08

Another Top-10 season and a great European adventure that ended in heartache and hangover, the Blues just scraping 5h place

2006-07

Without dropping out of the top half all season long, Moyes's boys secure Uefa Cup qualification with a 6th-place finish.

2005-06

The European dream is shattered all too quickly and relegation looks a distinct possibility until a New Year renaissance that eventually petered out into an 11th-place finish.

2004-05

A Rooney-less Everton, widely considered relegation fodder by pundits, adopt a siege mentality to secure an unlikely place in the Champion's League places.

2003-04

Uproar in May as the Blues do just enough to avoid the drop but finish 17th following a dismal season.

2002-03

David Moyes's first full season in charge yields a 7th-place finish and a Manager of the Year award for the boss.

2001-02

Walter Smith's time is brought to an ignominous end, with Bill Kenwright drafting in David Moyes to work a nine-game miracle to save the Blues.

2000-01

A season that will live long in the memory as one of the most dire, dismal, disappointing experiences for long-suffering Evertonians.

1999-2000

A top-half finish eludes a much improved Everton Squad under Walter Smith.

1998-99

With Walter Smith at the helm, Duncan Ferguson is sold and Everton are saved only by the signing of Kevin Campbell.

1997-98

So close to the brink...  Howard Kendall returns but survival is only secured by goal difference on the last day of the season.

1996-97

A season to forget...  In 6th place in December, the season fell apart and Joe Royle's departed, with Dave Watson keeping the Blues in the top flight.

1995-96

The season of Andrei Kanchelskis who weighed in with 16 goals and helped secure a 6th-placed finish in the Premiership.
