It has come to a sorry state of affairs when so much depends on the referee and his interpretation of the laws.
We need only look to our most recent game when supposedly the best English referee judged very similar incidents in entirely different ways.
Then of course we all remember Cluttenberg the red.

Not to mention blowing for full time when we were on the attack after getting back to 3-3 against United last season

it really is something when prior to the derby the talk from the blue camp is about referees.

Curious but has Clattenberg refereed any Everton game since that derby?

If not then is that an admission by the FA of how blatantly biased that particular performance was?

Clattenburg has never referreed an Everton game since his 'performance' in 'that' derby game.

If Moyes sticks to his current tactics we can probably expect Jags playing on his own up front supported by Jonny H. & Pip.

It haven't dreaded a derby this much since the days of Mike 'future England manager' Walker. we're gonna get tanked

Phil Dowd is the best ref in England. He's also the best ref for Everton because I've never seen him (dont recall) making it hard for us just because we're playing a top four side.
Atkinson is bad but not nearly as bad as Walton. My prediction: One penalty, four yellows and a red. A boring draw playwise. Will I watch it? Damn sure I will! What else there is to do on a saturday afternoon? Should there be anything else?

I will be up at 6.30am Texas time to watch it, and would be even if - especially if - C**tenberg was refereeing.

I missed the City game so I want to see how defensive we are ... or not. It's a Derby match, let's play!

It isn't only us who suffer from poor/bad refereeing; most Premier League games are now 'controversial' by their decisions.... blatant pens denied, blatant dives allowed.

Until arrogant posers like Webb are made answerable for their game costing decisions instead of being regarded as squeaky clean by the equally idiotic Lancaster Gate mafia, games will continue to be ruined by them.

Harvey - Phil Dowd is a complete plank IMO but you are right, the past few times he's refereered us I've been suprised how well he's done, even... dare I say it..... made decisions in our favour, now there's a novelty!

yet another example of Mancaster gate stitching us up! this ref shouldn't be allowed anywhere near another derby, but there he is!
the manc-loving FA want a bloodbath, for which they'll seek to punish us afterwards. even my red mates think this is a shocker of a decision!
headlines will be full of it. cool heads will win this one i reckon.

Just hope he keeps a close eye on Skrtel and Carragher in the area, and Fellaini keeps his cool. Also for a good game instead of the usual mayhem, I reckon a ref like Mariner would have been a better choice for this one.
