Barkley could be out for three to six weeks
Various sources are carrying a report from the Press Association, claiming that Everton have now confirmed Ross Barkley has suffered a broken toe.

According to the PA report, the club said he had a "small fracture", but could not put an exact timescale on his recovery. A statement said that, depending on how quickly the injury heals, the 20-year-old could be out for anything from three to six weeks.

Barkley is a major doubt the Merseyside derby at Anfield at the end of the month but could be back in early February depending on how quickly the injury heals.

Roberto Martinez described the fracture as being similar to that which sidelined Leighton Baines for a month following the Goodison derby in late November.
