Viña del Mar, Chile Fire Appeal, 2024 - Update

After the terrible fires in Viña del Mar, Chile in early February, the Ruleteros Society launched an online appeal to help those affected – many of the victims being Evertonianos.

To date, we have raised and sent to our two contact groups – The Everton Former Players Association & The Corporación Deportiva Everton – a combined total of £2,800 (CLP 3,200,000).

We are humbled by the generosity of our fellow supporters who have shown such solidarity with Evertonianos 8,000 miles away.

The money raised has provided for communal kitchens, clothing (especially nappies and underwear), and as the school children return to school in the coming weeks, writing materials to help them continue with their studies.

The emergency will be with the victims for a long time to come – football is not expected to return to the region until April – so we plan to continue the appeal, accepting any donation, no matter how small, for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the update, John, the scenes that we have witnessed on the news have been nothing but heartbreaking.

I'm glad to see the money raised has been used by the Everton Former Players Association & The Corporación Deportiva Everton as they do amazing work in the community for the people of Viña and its neighbouring towns and villages.
