It is such a momentous occasion in the storied history of Everton Football Club that words, thousands and thousands of words, don't come close to catching the essence of the unique moment that will unfold this afternoon when the Everton first team step out for the first time in front of a capacity crowd at their fantastic new stadium on the banks of the Royal Blue Mersey.

But it's not for want of trying:

Work to do in magnificent new stadium — Andy Hunter in the The Guardian

Par for the course for journalism these days (and I know we have a couple of scribes on here who earn a living from such endeavours). From my perspective - I used to "deal" with them. Daily.

Anathema to those professionals here, but with a Middle East Client we had to control the narrative... We were however fairly relaxed about what was said - the journalists knew what the red lines were. Those that complied (including global big names), got access. Those that didn't, well, didn't.

One article above - Daily Express - headline says stadium built on sand, and fans may be denied alcohol. The clear implication on the first part is maybe a nod to our recent precarious financial struggles. The latter part refers to one of the non-club-affiliated endeavours that was granted an alcohol license, but not planning permission - and the alcohol license is now at risk.

I know most on here know the detail, but a lot of outsiders / neutrals do not, and will read shite like that and form conclusions.

Luckily most balanced neutrals seem to think it's an iconic setting, and are looking forward to visiting.
