Disclaimer () Jeff Spiers 1 Posted 03/05/2025 at 17:16:31 Being an old timer, the first thing that took my breath away was looking up at the Main Stand, back in the late 50's. Also the old Park End. Then the bulldozers came in. Jeff Spiers 2 Posted 03/05/2025 at 17:22:47 Does any one remember the copper Black beard. The urchins were terrified of him. Too handy with the truncheon, me thinks!! Danny O'Neill 3 Posted 03/05/2025 at 17:57:43 The Leaving of Liverpool is one of my favourites Paul, closely followed by In my Liverpool Home.Maybe your next release can be to that tune, but titled "In my Everton Home". Paul Kossoff 4 Posted 03/05/2025 at 19:15:15 I remember the League Champions season of 1969-70. I think it was a 2-nil win against West Bromwich Albion. I'm not sure but, if I'm right, that was the last game in the old main stand and I took a spanner along to unscrew my seat and take it home. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I did steal my seat. I was only a pre-teenager. 😀 Phil Roberts 5 Posted 03/05/2025 at 20:35:37 Paul, it was 2-0. Think it might have been Alan Whittle with the first but I know the 2nd was Colin Harvey.Did I see it? No, I was on a school trip to London and my mother went instead. That and the Palace game at the start of the season the only ones I missed.Hence the mad dash along the M62 in 1985 to see us get the trophy when we played West Ham. Geoff Cadman 6 Posted 03/05/2025 at 22:16:00 Paul great lyrics, I looked for your song this morning after reading your post but I couldn't find it. Just arrived home from todays game and you have managed to lift my spirits. Do you know why it went missing. Danny mentioning "In my Liverpool home" reminded me of an EP from the 60's "The Singing City " it featured all three songs plus Maggie May and Dirty old town.My own favourite Shanty is Whip Jamboree . . Paul Kossoff 7 Posted 03/05/2025 at 23:48:43 Geoff thanks mate really appreciate your words. Danny asked me to put some lyrics to, in my Liverpool home, which started today and I'm half thorough.
