Disclaimer () Michael Kenrick 1 Posted 24/08/2024 at 14:27:18 Great last-minute winner for Brighton.Three players left totally unmarked by the Mancs, a simple header to win the game. All this after an interesting offside call on Zirkzee, who finished with his knee just on the goalline when he should have left it to go in. Christine Foster 2 Posted 24/08/2024 at 14:30:51 How the heck Man Utd lost that, I don't know, but well done Brighton. Two poor defensive errors by Man Utd, too many subs by them as well. A day of upsets? Bill Gall 3 Posted 24/08/2024 at 14:32:45 Brighton lot better than some supporters thought, or is it Utd not as good as they think they are Dave Abrahams 4 Posted 24/08/2024 at 14:34:54 Michael, Yes, really dreadful marking by Man Utd for Brighton's winner and Zirkzee should have left his knee out of it right on the line. Milner and a few more Brighton players all appealed straight away for the offside. Bill Gall 5 Posted 25/08/2024 at 14:05:00 Wow, that didn't take long. Chelsea 1 up against Wolves. Rob Halligan 6 Posted 25/08/2024 at 14:10:37 Trippier on the bench again for the Skunk Maggots. Go get him, Thelwell! Michael Kenrick 7 Posted 25/08/2024 at 14:39:37 Very simple goal for Bournemouth to open the scoring against Newcastle.Tavernier, fractionally onside. Jim Bennings 8 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:37:42 Watching other teams play, the name of the game is all about attacking and scoring goals isn't it?Wouldn't it be lovely to watch again even one season of an Everton side be attack minded and at least give the suffering fans value for money. Rob Halligan 9 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:48:48 Ah well, at least Wolves have conceded more than us so far this season. Getting mullered 6-2 at home by Chelsea. Andrew Grey 10 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:51:12 Chelsea get 2 more we'll be off the bottom! Jim Bennings 11 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:51:29 Bournemouth winner Rob Halligan 12 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:53:13 Disallowed for handball. Michael Kenrick 13 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:54:11 That's a pity. I think it shoulda stood.VAR still doing everything they can to deny goals. Michael Kenrick 14 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:56:09 And Joelinton would have a red card for that in the rugger! Rob Halligan 15 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:56:18 Why? It hit his arm, the part of the arm which is deemed to be handball. Had he headed the ball onto his arm, then yes, probably would have stood, but it's tough shit! Jim Bennings 16 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:56:46 Football is being killed now by VAR.I loved the days we could celebrate a goal and then go home and if it was dodgy then the inquests began then, but legitimate goals over the past few years are being chalked off over nothing. The biggest sick joke was Coventry being denied a place in the Cup Final this year. John Keating 17 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:58:03 If Bournemouth play like that - especially the goalie - next week…………say no more! Ricky Oak 18 Posted 25/08/2024 at 15:59:16 Corruption rears its ugly head, don't dare card maggots, piss take.. Brent Stephens 19 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:00:13 Joelinton makes a heavy grab around the neck. In rugby that's a straight red - dangerous tackle above the shoulder. Michael Kenrick 20 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:00:20 Rob, I think, like the comms said, and the pundits now, that would have been given back in the day. If it's where the sleeve ends, that hits him higher, so 'on the shoulder'. Ricky Oak 21 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:00:36 Fella was being fouled, that's why it hit his shoulder in the first place. Ricky Oak 22 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:03:22 Football, different levels of torture, makes a pleasant change from our misgivings lol Brent Stephens 23 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:04:13 As Ricky says. Ricky Oak 24 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:05:44 Now for the pundits gobshites love in 🤮 Rob Halligan 25 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:05:46 Michael, I agree. Without VAR it would have stood, no problem. Rob Halligan 26 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:07:17 Ricky, I just hope that Peter Drury is not the commentator. The mere sight of Salah and Drury is creaming himself. Bill Gall 27 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:07:43 Funny I think the same thing, hitting above the shirt line, was the penalty denied for Everton v Man City. Bill Gall 28 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:11:46 Well you know if you don't like the pundits and commentators fawning over Liverpool, you have an off button on your device. The only time I watch that lot is when they play Everton. Ricky Oak 29 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:12:24 Exactly Bill.Too cringe for us Rob, gunna poke self in eye wid a shizzy stick instead, less painful..UTFT,, we go again... Allen Rodgers 30 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:18:44 Quite right, Bill, RS coming on = time to change channel. Rob Halligan 31 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:27:44 Bill, I hit the mute button when that dirge of a song gets sung. Makes you want to fucking vomit. 🤮🤮🤮🤮 Rob Halligan 32 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:34:30 FFS Drury is the commentator. Stand by for screeching Salaaaaaaaaahhhh! Shane Corcoran 33 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:40:50 Talk of LFC on here wrecks my head generally, but SS remaining quiet while YNWA plays pre-match is bizarre. Duncan McDine 34 Posted 25/08/2024 at 16:51:57 Very fluid up front. I'm talking about Drury's kecks. Rob Halligan 35 Posted 25/08/2024 at 17:01:32 Duncan, 😂😂😂 Rob Halligan 36 Posted 25/08/2024 at 17:09:05 FFS, why wasn't that a red card for Gravenberch? Brent Stephens 37 Posted 25/08/2024 at 17:12:13 Because a red doesn't deserve a red, Rob. Off his feet, two-footed. Shane Corcoran 38 Posted 25/08/2024 at 17:29:59 Never a red. Studs weren't up. Shane Corcoran 39 Posted 25/08/2024 at 17:36:44 But surely that's at least a yellow for Jota. Paul Ferry 40 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:00:14 Ah shite. Rob Halligan 41 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:01:08 That looked close to being offside, but of course we don't get to see any review. Paul Ferry 42 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:02:24 VAR review was all over in a few seconds. Edward Rogers 43 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:03:37 Looked exactly like the Brentford offside a minute before? Billy Shears 44 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:21:04 Thank fuck we didn't play Chelsea at the Bridge. We could've conceded 10 or even more! Brent Stephens 45 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:22:38 Brentford look quite solid defensively and useful in midfield. But I wasn't impressed with their speed of decision-making and speed of movement up front today. A draw next week? Paul Ferry 46 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:22:44 The stolen song, mute. Don Wright 47 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:26:53 Just popped on toffee web for a quick look and fuck me can someone explain why the fuck are so called blues watching the red shite sorry you can't really call you self a blue if you watch the devils brigade the only time I will watch that lot is if they are playing us sorry but its not right unless your a closet red then if so get of the toffee web, No excuses excepted Brian Williams 48 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:30:08 Shurrup Don. Paul Ferry 49 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:32:39 ". unless your a closet red then if so get of the toffee web, No excuses excepted".I think that most 12-year-olds would be able to write better than this. You're a great blue, Don. So admirable, not watching them. That's brave. By the way, you're addressing people on here who never miss a game home or away. You can pop off now, you amazing blue you. Brent Stephens 50 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:39:09 Any other teams we are not allowed to watch, Don?How do you suggest we play against that other lot when we meet them? Paul Ferry 51 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:42:24 How can you organise to play against a team if you don't watch them? Rob Halligan 52 Posted 25/08/2024 at 18:42:41 Don # 49… I watched Bournemouth v Newcastle beforehand. Does that make me a closet cherry or closet skunk maggot? 🤔🤔🤔 Billy Bradshaw 56 Posted 25/08/2024 at 20:05:46 Don @ 49, people watching it, while praying for a Brentford victory. Fred Quick 57 Posted 25/08/2024 at 20:13:21 Professional managers and scouts etc associated with clubs are of course duty-bound to watch any team, particularly those teams which their clubs are likely to play, but supporters, watching another team in the flesh or on TV, doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to the fortunes of the club that they support. I will watch any game apart from those involving the reds, unless they are playing Everton at Goodison. I'm made up that Sky cover the German league live, at the same time as they broadcast 'Super Sunday'; much better for my well-being to watch something I might enjoy — and usually do. Shane Corcoran 58 Posted 25/08/2024 at 20:44:22 I like football. I watch football. Call that/me what you want. Dave Lynch 59 Posted 25/08/2024 at 20:52:34 I watched the shite game... disappointing that Brentford had no decent attacking options, then again I wasn't impressed by the other lot despite the commentator nearly having an orgasm when they had the ball. They'll get battered by decent teams. Scott Hamilton 60 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:16:36 A shame the Bournemouth goal was disallowed. I was kind of hoping that it would expedite Howe's sacking and we could scoop him up as a replacement for Dyche. Billy Shears 61 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:19:25 It is nice to see 18 other teams string passes together, move into space to receive the ball, take players on with skill and pace, to take pot shots from range, to get decent crosses into the box, to make clean tackles, to have the will to win and play with no fear.Maybe next year, eh, Blues. Scott Hamilton 62 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:20:48 Don, I'll watch whatever I want to watch, thanks. Admittedly, willing a team to lose for 90 minutes is an overwhelmingly negative experience but I've been doing it for over 50 years and I'll keep on doing it. You can do what you want. Rearrange your sock draw or maybe make a list of the supposed boundaries that, when breached, transgress what it means to be a ‘real' Evertonian. Ironically, you're very much demonstrating classic ‘gobshite' behaviour. Danny O’Neill 63 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:35:01 Fred, I'll watch any game of football.I too enjoy the Bundesliga and visit at once a season to watch Schalke at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen. A great day out.I don't mind watching them. I've been at derbies in Anfield both in the away section and sat amongst them.Watching them today led to healthy banter with family across the divide. Andy Crooks 64 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:36:10 I can see Don's point. I can't bear watching them live because they always won when I did. Now, MotD highlights where they have been beaten, better still robbed, that's proper viewing. Paul Hewitt 65 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:46:55 Danny, The German league is head and shoulders above the Premier League. I really don't get the hype of the Premier League. Take Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool out and it's a terrible league. Rob Hooton 66 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:51:54 Don, I'm a blue of 40 years (pretty much to the day).I've also been to Brentford a dozen or so times, in the last 25 years, as I live down the road from there.Am I less of an Everton fan for cheering the Bees on against the shite? If so, who gives a shit. Neil Copeland 67 Posted 25/08/2024 at 21:54:17 I watch all 19 of the other clubs at least twice per season so not sure what that means…… Add Your Comments In order to post a comment, you need to be logged in as a registered user of the site. » Log in now Or Sign up as a ToffeeWeb Member — it's free, takes just a few minutes and will allow you to post your comments on articles and Talking Points submissions across the site.
