Report Three brilliant goals confirm potency of new Blues attack Everton extended their winning form in quite brilliant fashion against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, with three excellent goals, despite two poor ones conceded. Michael Kenrick 30/08/2025 196comments (last) Wolves 2 - 3 Everton Everton extended their winning form in quite brilliant fashion against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, with three excellent goals, despite two poor ones conceded. The Blues will, however, miss Jarrad Branthwaite, Adam Aznou and Nathan Patterson for the trip to Molineux. And David Moyes selects a potentially powerful midfield trio to feed Beto. First Half Garner pased it back to Pickford who hoofed it up to Beto in an all-too familiar kick-off routine. Garner swung in a great deep cross that looked perfect for Beto but he avoided heading it. Arias rolled a low shot to Pickford from distance. But some lovely play by Everton on the left saw Gaerner and Grealish combining nicely, Mykolenko winning an early corner. A great ball in from Garner was half-cleared, Everton working it around well, then Mykolenko to Grealish on the left and his headed cross was perfect for Beto to glance his header home. A really high quality goal. Everton had pressed forward with real intent and it paid off brilliantly. They had to defend then but did it competently. It was a bit scrappy for a while as Wolves tried to respond, Everton unable to hold the ball for long. Beto took a long ball from Pickford brilliantly on his foot but then played it way backwards. Still, Everton looked quite confident until Gomes was too clever for Dewsbury-Hall who had to foul him for the game's first yellow card, the free-kick driven. Wolves got some rare possession but the cross in was straight to Pickford. A nice ball forward to Beto was allowed to bounce by him and the defender was in sharply — Beto needs to be a lot stronger! But a simple-looking Wolves attack suddenly turned with a great ball in behind from Munetsi on the wing and Hwang, who zoomed past Tarkowski, was picked out with precision, Pickford out late to challenge with no chance to stop it. The game changed in an instant and now Everton looked all at sea, giving Wolves space to get crosses in. Grealish did his best, drawing a foul from Andre. It then a bit spicy when the tackles started flying in. Ndiaye did great to force a ball to Gana who fed Grealish but he wanted too much time to get the ball on is left foot. However, his shot won a corner but it was cleared this time, and Wolves won a corner for themselves off Mykolenko. Agbadou's acrobatic shot flew over the Everton bar. Beto was fouled and from it, a wonderful 1-2 between Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish should have been the second goal… but the follow-up made sure with some glorious football from Beto, and Dewsbury-Hall, who squared the ball across, Beto stepping over brilliantly to allow a simple finish for Iliman Ndiaye following in behind him. Just beautiful from Everton! Munetsi pushed Mykolenko off the ball and did not like the referee calling it a foul. Ndiaye and Dewsbury-Hall tried more intricate passing but it was not quite right. Andre chased Grealish backwards before fouling him. Dewsbury-Hall's deep crossfield deadball sailed over Tarkowski and out of play. Dewsbury-Hall called for a handball, the Wolves free-kick and follow-up cleared twice by Tarkowski, setting up Ndiaye for a drive forward but he failed to pass the ball wide and was eventually blocked off by a rolling cul-de-sac of gold shirts. The teams played out 3 added minutes with no real threats, after some brilliant football from Everton. Second Half Wolves began the second half with some real drive and intent but Grealish was really getting into it now. And he got forward with a bit of space around him, picking out Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall running ahead of him, but his first-time strike was just astounding. A simply brilliant shot into the top corner, off the base of the bar — the best goal of three brilliant strikes… so far. That fantastic effort really took the sting out of the game as Everton locked in and looked to play out the final third of the game, Wolves making three changes after the hour mark. But a great through ball to Munetsi needed brisk action from Pickford to boot it clear. Some exquisite play from Grealish released Mykolenko in space but his cross was behind Beto. Ndiaye was having a ball out wide right as Everton played confident possession play to destroy the home side's spirit... until Tarkowski was forced to play it into touch. Gana out wide on the touchline got his cross all wrong and that allowed Wolves to come forward, Hugo Bueno going down under pressure from Ndiaye, Everton perhaps getting away with one, but Bueno sprung back up and that could be the reason it wasn't given as a penalty. Everton finally came under some pressure, but it was resisted and Ndiaye was fouled wide right by Hugo Bueno who hurt himself in the process. The free kick after a slew of substitutions found O'Brien but he could only glance it wide. Grealish kept being fouled. But Everton were not using the free-kicks well and they surrendered a really stupid goal, Gomes dashing in behind the Everton defence, Mykolenko manily at fault this time, to plunder a second goal that should never have been allowed. Mykolenko did well to shield the ball from Gomes and win a free-kick. But Wolves kept pushing forward, Garner there to stop a dangerous advance. Another dangerous attack forced O'Brien to head behind for a Wolves corner, Barry clearing but only as far as Lopez, his shot blocked. Bellegarde cuts in on Dewsbury-Hall, giving up an advanced free-kick wide left. Garner powered it in but a defensive header eventually found Iroegbunam, whose shot was blocked. Grealish was tiring and Alcaraz replaced him with a few minutes left, plus 6 added on. From a long Pickford clearance, Ndiaye drove in but Barry was slow to anticipate the ball in to him. Wolves attacked again, and they almost got an equaliser, Bellegarde lashing in a shot that Pickford parried to Lopez but he drove his shot wide. Moyes swapped out Ndiaye for Coleman in what should be the final minute, Everton winning a late free-kick that should be the end of it. And Michael Oliver finally blew the whistle on a fantastic Everton win, albeit cutting things close with two soft goals allowed. Wolves: Sa, S Bueno, Agbadou, Gomes, Tchatchoua (64' López), Andre (64' Gomes), Gomes, H Bueno (76' Wolfe), Munetsi, Hwang (76' Kalajdzic), Arias (64' Bellegarde). Everton: Pickford, O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko, Gueye (76' Iroegbunam), Garner; Ndiaye (90+6' Coleman), Dewsbury-Hall [Y:16'], Grealish (88' Alcaraz), Beto (76' Barry). Exposes lack of pace throughout the side so likely to huff and puff against an inferior side - because were too deep and narrow - with too little pace and running in behind. Should still win though Colin Glassar 3 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:03:02 Good team. Decent bench. Bobby Mallon 4 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:04:15 Robert tressel, please just for once say something nice. Andrew Merrick 5 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:04:25 When did we last have a bench that good James Marshall 6 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:06:00 Slightly surprised to see Beto start. I guess Moyes thinks Wolves being at home will push up and attack leaving space on behind.Beto is shit when it's played to feet so has to be the thinking. Ian Bennett 7 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:09:37 Beto away Barry at home? Annika Herbert 8 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:10:21 Bobby @ 4, so you want Robert to lie and say the team is packed full of pace? Looking at that team, I have to agree with Robert. But I also think we can win the game Robert Birks 9 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:16:29 In other news. I hate Chelski but so glad the penalty was given for them this afternoon. No different from the one given against us last week. James Marshall 10 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:17:04 Ian, yeah that's what I would think but what do I know Ajay Gopal 11 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:19:13 Robert, if we had signed Tchatchua who was Thelwells target in the previous window, we would have got a speedy player. Apparently, the fastest player in La Liga last season. Will be interesting to see how Mykolenko copes with him. Ian Bennett 12 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:22:25 Dewsbury-Hall has some pace to run past Beto.Pace in Barry and Dibbling from the bench against tiring legs isn't a bad option either.Bar Branthwaite, I'd think most blues would pick that side as their first choice. Tony Heron 13 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:23:31 I would never start with Beto away from home. We usually get pinned back early on and he's not a player who can receive the pressure with hold-up play whereas Barry, I think, could. And any quick break is likely to result in the ball bouncing off Beto. He looks fast and strong when given the chance to run onto a ball but otherwise he reduces the team to 10 men. Michael Kenrick 14 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:47:02 Ian @12, His name is Dibling (only one letter B).He does dribbling (that has two Bs). Get it right, fer fuck's sake! Rob Hooton 15 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:47:31 Its nice to have options on the bench, most teams make about 4 changes in the second half now and weve actually got a bit of talent to bring on for a change!Always tough away, would be nice to get a win on the road in the bag early in the season. Paul Kossoff 48 Posted 30/08/2025 at 15:53:54 Ged, I'm a bit naive, what's block free footy? Alan J Thompson 49 Posted 30/08/2025 at 15:57:13 We started well pressing high and got an early goal but then Dewsbury -Hall, Gana and Garner seemed to drop back a touch which seemed to negate the high press and Wolves started looking for their pace merchant. The Ref then seemed to give them everything, we touched them a free kick was given where he didn't seem to notice when Wolves players did it, the Dewsbury-Hall yellow being an example. When we got men forward again we got the second as we look a lot more dangerous when Wolves can't put 2 or 3 players on Grealish or Ndiaye..Dewsbury-Hall in particular but also Gana and Garner need to lift their games and we still seem to play set pieces to Tarkowski beyond the back post. Ged Simpson 50 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:00:48 Just messing mate. No links so "Block Free Football." Poor joke I admit Paul. Craig Scott 51 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:04:33 So satisfying to see us look dangerous up front for a change. Grealish, Ndaye and KDH looking accomplished in front of goal and a real threat.A bit untidy at times but much improved. Paul Kossoff 54 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:14:04 Gooooooal Dewsbury Hall Goooooal.Jack Grealish with another assist. We need to concentrate, don't get carried away. Keep our structure and don't go all gung ho. Ralph Basnett 55 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:14:35 Oh yes……. Craig Scott 56 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:15:01 OMG. What a goal! Andrew Keatley 59 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:17:53 Midfielders running in behind - yes please. That's what happens when you have creative players who can pick and execute forward passes. KDH and Grealish linking up twice with maximum effect. Scott Hamilton 60 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:18:36 £50M for Grealish might be a steal. Jerome Shields 62 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:22:19 Great play by Everton. Defence got caught for the Wolves goal. Went deep after that giving Wolves too much space. Really have to engage higher up the pitch in the second half. Rob Hooton 63 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:25:18 Another cracking assist for Grealish - thats 4 in two games now! Scott Hamilton 64 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:25:40 Apparently the PL assist record is 20.Grealish has 4 already.Im gonna need new underwear… 💦 Ged Simpson 65 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:25:53 www.grealishlive.com works! Paul O'Neill 74 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:39:05 We all say its at the back Everton are vulnerable. Paul Kossoff 75 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:39:27 Took our foot off the gas… thought, “Game over." It never is until the final whistle blows. Ged Simpson 76 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:43:12 Still 5th! Ged Simpson 77 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:49:47 Contributor today! Jerome Shields 78 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:53:50 Same mistake again... poor focus. Come on, Everton — get this one over the line.Agree: sign Grealish and get working on it now! Ian Bennett 79 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:57:01 Utft Colin Glassar 80 Posted 30/08/2025 at 16:59:19 We are screaming out for a right-back. Paul Kossoff 81 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:02:52 Moyes, get a full-back in! One who can defend! Wolves are not a top side, yet we conceded two goals. Nick Page 82 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:03:03 Great win.Now go and sign a fucking right-back and build on this. George Cumiskey 83 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:03:08 As soon as they scored the second, we reverted to type: everyone behind the ball… and we nearly threw it away.We still need someone with real pace and a centre-forward who can trap a ball. Grant Rorrison 84 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:03:22 Great result. Bar a couple of lapses. The officials did their best to con us out of it at the end there. Lee Courtliff 85 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:03:39 Jesus Christ, we do make things harder than they have to be but well played overall. Jack is pure class. Ian Wilkins 86 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:06:45 Right Back, Holding Midfield, forward with pace. If only….Good win, but boy do we make hard work of things… Colin Malone 87 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:10:40 According to Tuchel, Anthony Gordon is better than Jack Grealish. 🤣🤣🤣 Andy Meighan 88 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:12:06 The job the manager has done since he returned, nothing short of miraculous — that's gonna stick in the craw of a few on here.In Moyes we trust, welcome home Dithering Dour Davey. Alan J Thompson 89 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:14:16 Everton certainly know how to get your heart beating a bit faster.Ndiaye was given offside which he was when the ball was played forward but it then struck a Wolves defender and I always thought that, as the last man to play the ball, he played Ndiaye onside. Then Dewsbury-Hall with a magnificent finish looked to seal the game until we dropped back and allowed Wolves a second with slack defending by several players. I also wondered about subbing Ndiaye and Grealish as they were the two players capable of holding the ball up but we got home in the end. Kevin Molloy 90 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:16:37 That's what I thought, Alan, it clearly came off the Wolves player last. Just seen that disallowed Fulham goal, what an absolute showeat bunch are. Oliver Molloy 91 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:19:47 Good performance but lots to improve on. Mykolenko falling asleep for their second was terrible. The Ndiaye incident / tackle could easily been given as far as I can see, luck on our side in this game as in the last.Grealish has been just fantastic for us to date, he is real quality in many aspects of the game – let's all hope he keeps it up.I think Coleman should have been on sooner – we definitely need a decent right back – if we can't get a player that will make a difference, then okay… but it should be a priority!Next couple of league games will be huge tests for Moyes and this squad — dare to dream! COYB. Chris James 92 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:20:38 Colin (87), I'm happy that Jack is overlooked for the moment, would rather he stay fit and focused for us – if he keeps this up, he'll be in the England setup again soon enough. Christine Foster 93 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:21:25 We played brilliantly, but both goals conceded were really, really poor. We all shout about needing a right-back — we do, but in the pre-season and again today, two goals right through the middle of the defence. Tarkowski is off the boil, Branthwaite really missed, no one tracking the centre of midfield runners.A really good win but the best thing was that the players looked as though they were really enjoying it. What a difference Grealish is. Tom Bowers 94 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:24:18 Grealish has been a revelation and unfortunately Moyes not starting him against Leeds gave us no outlet from the start in that game. However, what magic he weaves and I have always said he makes players commit and things happen.Moyes has to consider what to do with this back four.I don't like heavyweights especially on a wet surface. What they need is a class sweeper like Jagielka. The current back line is all at sea sometimes and could have cost us a game we were clearly the better in. Colin Glassar 95 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:25:42 Loads of work still to do, Christine. The understanding between the players is still not there. Hopefully, over the international break they can work on this and get Branthwaite fit as well as a right-back and cover for Gana. Mike Gaynes 96 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:36:52 Haaland on Snapchat: ‘Jack De Bruyne does it again for Everton'Alan J #89, no, the ball hitting a defender isn't the same thing as him 'playing' the ball, and so it doesn't change the position. It was a clear offside. Ian Bennett 98 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:49:10 Good win on the road. Poor goals conceded making for a nervous finish. Awareness from Mykolenko on the second was really poor mind. Alan J Thompson 99 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:54:25 Mike (#96); I'll take your word for it but I thought that these days he couldn't be given offside until he played the ball and wasn't in the keepers line of sight if he didn't play it, the on the field but not interfering bit. Phil (Kelsall) Roberts 100 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:55:16 18 October 2024 (5 Points) and this year 30 August (6 points)7 games v 3 games21 shots on target = 7 goals; 8 shots on target = 5 goalsIs this the same club as 12 months ago??? Scott Hamilton 101 Posted 30/08/2025 at 17:59:09 When you think how poor we were in the season opener against Leeds, we've since scored 7 goals and are playing with the kind of swashbuckling belief I haven't seen since Christ knows when. Literally cannot wait for Villa 2 weeks today.UTFT!!!!! Scott Hamilton 102 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:02:33 BTW - You've probably all seen the stat but Grealish is the first Everton player to get two or more assists in consecutive Premier League games EVER… Micky Norman 103 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:04:05 Jack Grealish is the best player we've had in many a year. Duncan McKenzie but more effective for the team. And Ndiaye is just a joy to watch. 3-2 every week will do just fine. Christy Ring 104 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:04:48 Superb going forward, should have won comfortably, but for amateur defending. We need a fullback and defensive midfielder before the window shuts. Just watched Tim Sherwood's analysis on Sky, said we were brilliant going forward, Grealish and Ndiaye outstanding and couldn't believe how good Dewsbury-Hall was, and also praised Beto and Moyes. For me, I thought Garner played his best game. Peter Mills 105 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:08:27 What a pleasure it was to watch some of that attacking play. We have some very good footballers up front, it would be great to have a classy defender to supplement them. Some of our performance today was reminiscent of 1977 and 78, à la Dobson and Thomas, we were just short of a Latchford. It was a game we should aspire to be winning 1-5, but we have weaknesses in defence which told, and may catch us out in the coming weeks without reinforcement. For now, though, well done Blues, made up for everyone who travelled. Ajay Gopal 106 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:10:06 Great result, but much to improve. O'Brien is no right-back. And Mykolenko is still feeling his way back to fitness. But some of our forward play in the 1st half was sublime. For some strange reason, we then started to sit back and invited pressure from Wolves.Garner was my MotM, he was terrific in breaking up play and getting the ball forward. Followed closely by Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish and Ndiaye. Things are suddenly looking a lot better. Well done to Moyes and the owners. Robert Tressell 107 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:12:28 A work in progress still but so so much better. Some lovely bits of play and three really good goals. Some flaws in the side which are all well known but we look good. Grealish is enjoying his football and it's a credit to him after stepping down from Man City. Long may it continue. Ian Bennett 108 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:14:03 I think it was that more they were 3-1 down at home, and made a host of subs. After 3 defeats on the spin, it was shit or bust for the Wolves manager in a game they'd fancy at the start of the day. Stuart Sharp 109 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:24:28 Haven't read the whole thread, but what do people think was the defensive error for the first Wolves goal? It was a superb ball into the legendary 'corridor of uncertainty'. Very hard to defend. Are folk questioning the cross coming in at all? Mark Taylor 110 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:28:09 As I keep saying, we actually need 2 full-backs, one right-back (obviously) which would allow O'Brien to play alongside Jarrad, and a better left-back – Mykolenko is really only a useful understudy. They would be the priorities. It is possible Ake would be available and he would be ideal, also covers at centre-back if Jarrad is out. There are numerous right-back possibilities: Maitland Niles, Fisher, Martinez (who Arsenal are in for but he won't get game time with them) or even Munoz, who might be interested in the project shaping up. Or even one of a plethora of right-backs at our friends Roma. Mark Taylor 111 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:30:35 Stuart,Two errors: one is letting the cross come in in the first place; second was Tarkowski allowing the striker to literally run past him. There at least needed to be a challenge. It was very poor positional play combined with a worrying absence of any pace. Colin Glassar 112 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:30:41 The defenders were asleep for both goals, Stuart. We need to tighten up at the back and be more ruthless in front of goal. But the signs are good. Andrew Clare 113 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:37:09 Great to see proper footballers in the Everton team it's almost like the days of Ball, Harvey and Kendall. As everybody has stated, if we could sign a defensive midfielder and a right-back, we would have a ‘complete' football team.Wonderful stuff. Can't wait for the next match. Kieran Kinsella 114 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:38:41 Credit to Guardiola. Not many people can take a £100M treble winner and convince the world he is Dele Alli 2.0. But luckily, Moyes wasn't buying it while others splashed tens of millions on inferior players. Stuart Sharp 115 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:38:56 Thanks, folks. Stream was dodgy, so I didn't see the build-up. Looked to me like a very hard cross to defend, but fair enough if you think it was poor from us. Wouldn't surprise me given how dodgy we looked at other times (certainly after each time we conceded). Mykolenko for the second was crap, but I guess he's likely to be rusty. Ian Bennett 116 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:40:21 Tarkowski pointing at Garner for the first to pick up the man. He misses Branthwaite a lot does Tarkowski. Liam Mogan 117 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:41:39 Tarkowski looked like he was pulling a steamship for that goal. So slow when turned around towards his own goal. George Cumiskey 118 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:49:42 One mistake and some are writing off Mykolenko already. People are saying we're desperate for a righ-back... very true, but I think we're desperate for a goalscoring centre-forward as well. Mark Taylor 119 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:58:45 True, George, but I think they are financially beyond us right now. So the idea is, to make sure they get the best service by having full-backs who are competent attackers and can play the type of balls in that led to their 2 goals. Think DCL when he got loads of goals one season, and he is not a much better striker if at all better than the two we have. That doesn't mean writing off Mykolenko. He makes a very decent back-up, maybe even first choice against the better sides. But he is pretty ordinary (to be kind) going forward. Andy Walker 120 Posted 30/08/2025 at 18:58:54 Andy 88. Please can you explain yourself? Less than 2 weeks ago you wrote “This isn't going to better any time soon, so we are going to have to suck it up. This season is going to be another long hard slog with probably a bottom 7 or 8 finish.Anyone thinking we could be challenging for Europe is living on another planet, pre-season and last night's debacle proved that. The worrying thing for me last night was that our players didn't look fit, they looked jaded after 30 minutes.“Today you write:“The job the manager has done since he returned, nothing short of miraculous — that's gonna stick in the craw of a few on here.In Moyes we trust, welcome home Dithering Dour Davey.“ Andy Walker 121 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:02:57 What a pleasure to watch that was. Dibling still to come too. Exciting times coming back. Paul Hewitt 122 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:09:51 Let's not pick on individual players today please. That was a very good team performance and, apart from the two mistakes for the goals, we looked excellent. We've got a few weeks rest now till the Villa game. A couple more signings before Monday night and I really feel confident for this season. COYB Derek Taylor 123 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:13:04 Let's not got carried away but today there was clearly an enjoyment among our players that has not been there for decades.Davey Kieran Kinsella 124 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:15:38 Andy Walker,Yeah, with Dibling in the mix, suddenly we have options on the bench. Meaning Ndiaye, Grealish and Co cannot slack off. Last season, we didn't have options, so the likes of Harrison and McNeil kept their places – wind, rain or shine. The summer clear-out in terms of numbers wasn't as impactful as has been suggested since half the released players were injured, out on loan, or just lost causes. So in effect, lack of quantity was a problem last season as well as this. Now, we have made some steps in addressing that while obviously we have greatly improved the quality. Nicholas Ryan 125 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:23:09 At last... Everton take more shots in an afternoon than Tommy Fleetwood! Kevin Molloy 126 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:24:18 Disappointing goals to concede, but very good balls by them into the box, the first particularly. Chris Davies 127 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:25:03 Swap Super Jack for sorry Jack H and KDH for Doucoure,… what a huuuge upgrade??! Love watching them now. Hated it last season. Colin Malone 128 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:46:52 I'm 68 years of age. I'm going to get a shirt with Jack Grealish's name on it. Up to now, one of the best players I've seen in a blue shirt. Kevin Molloy 129 Posted 30/08/2025 at 19:59:58 Chris, I disagree. I think we're better off the way we are. Edward Rogers 130 Posted 30/08/2025 at 20:15:44 Whilst I accept we need a right-back, let's not forget the brilliant job Jake O'Brien has done so far. Okay, he wasn't great today, but let's not write him off completely. Rob Dolby 131 Posted 30/08/2025 at 20:16:56 Stuart 109,It was a quality ball played in for their equaliser. Maybe Mykolenko was caught out of position but, at the end of the day, it was a good bit of quality from their right midfielder.Mykolenko was also on his heels for their 2nd; if we had lost or drawn that game, I would be furious with him. We do need 2 quality full-backs, I am sure Moyes also knows that. For a big lad, O'Brien isn't the bravest and offers little going forward.I enjoyed the link-up play around their box today, calm minds making good decisions. Even Beto gets some credit for the dummy for our 2nd.James Garner was my MotM today – he was everywhere tidying up. Not sure we need another holding midfielder.Earlier in the day Fulham conceded a penalty given by VAR. Gana shoots, it hits the lad on the arm: no penalty. The refs are so inconsistent.Good week for the Blues. Shame the international break is here. Chris Davies 132 Posted 30/08/2025 at 20:19:00 Kevin,Haha. I speak backwards when we win! And I drink more when we win! But yes, quite right!I fucking love Jackie Grealish! Enjoy your weekend, mate. Chris Davies 133 Posted 30/08/2025 at 20:22:13 Collin @128,I feel the same! I think the last time I did that, I made my dad cry because his name was longer than my shirt!Kanchelskis?? Nope. Still can't spell his name! 😂 Andy Meighan 134 Posted 30/08/2025 at 20:55:25 Andy 120 you're right. After the Leeds debacle, I was well and truly down, a shocking night and one I couldn't see it getting any better. But, and I will say this in my defence and it is an excuse, I'd had a few when I posted that.Admitted that's no excuse for my scurrilous behaviour, so I hope you accept my wholeheartedly apology for coming out with such drivel.Yes, 1st half against Brighton we rode our luck, but today we should have run away with it.Andrew, once again, my apologies. Warwick Jones 135 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:02:46 Allright lars, I live in Norfolk and now follow the Blues via the live audio broadcast and the highlights video via my Forever Blue+ membership. Does anyone know how to permanently remove the video captions? Today's classic samples include "Willerman and Diall the gold scorer, Ken and Juicy Hall the provider". This owl arse would greatly appreciate any tech help to permanently remove them from all future videos. Ta. Ryan Holroyd 136 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:09:40 Some wonderful football today, especially between KDH and Grealish. I actually prefer Ndiaye on the right. I do wish Moyes would stop playing these flair players. Doesn't he know of his reputation? Ernie Baywood 137 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:17:45 We got to see a different Garner today. Good players enjoy having good players around them. You can see the lift that he got from having options who will show for the ball and use it well in tight positions. At our best we're going to be very exciting. What an incredible turnaround with a few transfers. Andy Walker 138 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:27:24 Andy 134. Thats fair enough, credit to you. I genuinely wasnt sure whether your post today was sarcastic, clearly it wasnt. In fairness there were others a week last Monday who were calling for Moyes to be sacked amongst other drama laden stuff. Theyve since posted sweet FA. Moyes has transformed our team in less than a year. Not just the results but the style of play and level of player. Hes a good manager of that theres no doubt. Well still lose some more games this season, I just hope a degree of perspective and realism is displayed by us all when we do lose. Moyes will make mistakes but hell get it right more often than not.Anyway, have a good evening and we can enjoy MOTD AGAIN! Mike Price 139 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:28:21 Im really happy with the squad development so far. Full back is the obvious problem but people thinking Mykolenko is the answer are deluded, hes terrible, nowhere near good enough. Ive said since he arrived hes one of the worst players Ive ever seen arrive for decent money. Ian Bennett 140 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:31:35 There will be bumps in the road, but there looks a plan and the players resemble footballers.Things are improving slowly. Mike Gaynes 141 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:38:36 Consider me deluded, Mike. In well over a hundred games Myko has proven himself and then some. When fully healthy (which he is currently not) he is one of the best defensive left backs in the league, and his cross to set up our first goal today was elegant. Andrew Merrick 142 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:46:19 Myko is not terrible, but we let Antonee Robinson go, to a former manager...We have needed two pacey wing backs for years now, and I know I keep looping that one.,.But that's the past, today is the now, and wow, if we cant celebrate that, what the hell should we do...We are building the best squad in ages, playing some very engaging entertaining football, I am very happy tonight and I expect most are, celebrate blues! Ryan Holroyd 143 Posted 30/08/2025 at 21:57:33 Chermitti to Rangers for an initial fee of 8m is being reported Duncan McDine 144 Posted 30/08/2025 at 22:14:38 And to think there were a few on here that strongly objected to signing Grealish. I just took a sneaky look at the earliest couple of threads in the 'rumours' section relating to our interest in Jack (to refresh my memory). The comments are entertaining. Kieran Kinsella 145 Posted 30/08/2025 at 22:17:45 Duncan 144Guilty as charged. Bill Watson 146 Posted 30/08/2025 at 22:37:21 Some brilliant attacking play and we were coasting at 1-3 and looking like we'd add to it.Taking off Gueye and Beto altered the whole rhythm of the side. We lost control of midfield and Barry failed to control anything which came his way. Beto may have his limitations but he's streets ahead of this guy!Hopefully, we can get a full back and a half decent striker over the line by 7pm on Monday. Phil (Kelsall) Roberts 147 Posted 30/08/2025 at 22:39:20 Can we please deal with the facts. Robinson left in 2019 to go to Wigan. He was behind Digne when we sold him. Digne was a French international and only 4 years older. He was not going to get a game having been out on loan for the previous two years.Struggling to remember when Paul Cook was our manager because he was the guy who signed him from us.Mike Price - "hes one of the worst players Ive ever seen arrive for decent money". Mykolenko cost around £18m. Gbamin £23m, Walcott £20m, Klassen £23m, Schneiderlin £20m - - want me to go farther back.Worst ever for the money? Doesn't even make the top 20. And he is a very good defender. Brendan McLaughlin 148 Posted 30/08/2025 at 22:42:41 Unleash the Grealish...A most unMoyes like performance.Sloppy in defence... potent in attack. Andrew Merrick 149 Posted 30/08/2025 at 22:48:17 Okay, Phil, hats off to you, but I think we would agree that Antonee had something to offer when we let him go.And that we are at last building a meaningful squad again. Ryan Holroyd 150 Posted 30/08/2025 at 23:19:45 So Robinson wasn't let go to a former manager. Silva joined Fulham in 2021 and Robinson went to Wigan in 2019. Ryan Holroyd 151 Posted 30/08/2025 at 23:24:01 Just seen this about a possible Villa move for Lucas Paqueta‘Tottenham and Everton also hold an interest in Paqueta'Where would he fit in for Everton? Stephen Williams 152 Posted 30/08/2025 at 23:24:29 I've read most but admittedly not all of the posts but there must be a special mention to Michael Keane today. I went to the game and everyone around me agreed that he was outstanding and probably MotM. I know it is heresy to even think that in here but there you go. He didn't miss a thing and had to contend with an under-par Mykolenko and Tarkowski. On form, he would partner Branthwaite when he returns. But I suspect that Moyes won't drop his captain although he's had a really tough start to the season. Also Garner had a really good game.Hopefully the two days till Monday will allow us to bring in some strategic reinforcements and the 2-week break will allow better drilling of the back four. Leeds away to the last two games is night and day. Mike Gaynes 153 Posted 31/08/2025 at 00:09:00 I screamed like a gutshot alley cat when we dumped Robinson for pocket change, because I'd seen him for the USA and knew what he had. But Phil's right, Digne owned the position. At least until Benitez came in and fucked him off. I love Mykolenko, but he's not as good as either one. Bobby Thomas 154 Posted 31/08/2025 at 00:35:45 Stephen #152Keane and Branthwaite both like to play off the main centre-back. Personally, I don't think they can play together. It's similar to when we had Mina, Holgate, Keane, and Godfrey as our centre-back options. The mix of centre-backs was all wrong as only one (Mina) liked to attack the ball and play as the "main" centre-back, whilst the other three liked to play off the main centre-back. As Mina was always injured, we were left with three centre-backs who couldn't play together. None of the combinations worked. Keane and Branthwaite both prefer playing off the main centre-back, so I'm unsure whether they could play together. Branthwaite is much better on the cover (pace), so that would leave Keane playing the Tarkowski role of being the main centre-back, something he just isn't very good at or cut out for He can't do it. For a big lump of lad, he is weak and lacks aggression. He has no pace, and is shocking on the turn. He doesn't open his mouth. Basically, he is nowhere near good enough.People can talk up Keane's performances as much as they like. It is long established that, when he plays, we have a soft centre and leak goals. Tarkowski generally looks awful when he's there, such as the 4-0 battering at Villa a couple of seasons ago.Tarkowski and Branthwaite is easily our best centre-back partnership. Centre-back play is all about combination play and they complement each other perfectly. When Branthwaite plays, Tarkowski can focus on what he is good at. Conversely, when Keane plays Tarkowski gets pulled about into areas he doesn't want to go and we start getting strung out. Keane was also at fault for Wolves second goal, btw. Tommy Carter 155 Posted 31/08/2025 at 00:44:01 @152Laughable I'm afraid. Two of the poorest goals you'll ever see conceded at Premier League level. The first one was a complete joke. A nothing cross that caught the entire back 4 asleep. Made it's way somehow to the only player anticipating it which was an attacker and they were level. Mal van Schaick 156 Posted 31/08/2025 at 00:44:44 Credit to Moyes who has the players organised and fighting for their jerseys and the Everton cause. With growing confidence, we can continue a good run of results bar injuries and keep ourselves around the Top 6. Phillip Warrington 157 Posted 31/08/2025 at 00:47:14 When Branthwaite is fit again and partnering Tarkowski, we will be alright. If we could only land a decent striker, we could be Top 10. Watching Everton at the moment is a breath of fresh air compared to last 4 seasons. Why people are still bagging Moyes has got me fucked. He has got Everton playing football again which the previous 4 managers did not. Chris Davies 158 Posted 31/08/2025 at 00:58:05 Yea, Bobby, Keane dragged Tarkowski out of position but even a young, played 5 games in defence, Jimmy Garner filled in and had better shape. He was clearly pissed off with Tarkowski. The gap was there to hit, because Tarkowski stopped. Chris Davies 159 Posted 31/08/2025 at 01:01:08 Anyway, we'll be a force when Branthwaite's back and Mykolenko is fit. Kieran Kinsella 160 Posted 31/08/2025 at 01:10:06 The CB is all about partnership. Coady and Tark failed cause they were too similar. The problem though is Tarks as last year is starting the season poorly. When hes in his normal vein hes vocal enough to control things so he doesnt allow his partner to expose him but August seems like the month his brain switches off. Bobby Thomas 161 Posted 31/08/2025 at 01:12:47 Yeah, Chris #158Weird how when Tarkowski and Branthwaite play, our defensive record is excellent. Weirder still that, in the near decade Keane has been at the club, we routinely leak goals when he plays. Wonder why? What could it possibly be?It's because Keane is shite, Chris. Don Alexander 162 Posted 31/08/2025 at 01:13:28 Duncan (#gross - geddit?) I'm on record on TW in questioning Grealish's adherence to what's required of multi-millionaire signings.I point to his unarguable, self-confessed historical contrition on such aberrations in my defence. That said, as far as I know, he's never shagged a grannie or two/three etc.Hopefully he soon progresses to trophy winning for us though and, for those who give a monkey's, Ingurr-land. Aged 29 that's a very big plateful for him to swallow though. In two full games he's excelled; only forty or so to go this season. Bobby Thomas 163 Posted 31/08/2025 at 01:17:36 Kieran #160,Great lad, Coady, but nowhere near good enough and not up to standard for the Premier League. Can't play in a two. Undersized, weak, and incredibly slow. Basically a smaller version of Keane but with more personality. Steve Brown 164 Posted 31/08/2025 at 02:48:00 Exciting times.Moyes will sort the defensive errors, and we now have a brilliant trio of Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish with Dibling waiting in the wings. Garner and Idrissa are excellent.I still think we need a central defensive midfielder, as we lost control of midfield when Idrissa went off. Also, O'Brien does his best at right-back but we need a specialist there, Kieran Kinsella 165 Posted 31/08/2025 at 03:01:25 Steve Brown,Totally agree. The defense has been shaky but I'm not even worried because one thing Moyes excels at is sorting out the backline. It's a temporary blip, nothing more. What generally concerns me more is his reigning in of the attackers. Though his comments “Grealish is better than I thought” offer me hope. In fairness to Moyes, once we had Pienaar, Mirallas and Arteta, we did play some nice attacking football. So if he does the thing and sorts out the backline, hopefully we will be okay. The thing about Grealish is, maybe based on Pep's comments, teams haven't been too concerned about him so going forward they will realize their mistake. But that means less attention on Ndiaye and potentially Dibling. So, even if Grealish gets crowded out, it frees up other attacking options. The future suddenly seems bright! Andy Mead 166 Posted 31/08/2025 at 04:19:11 I know it's all the fashion these days, but where did the ref get 6 minutes of added time from? Steve Brown 167 Posted 31/08/2025 at 04:21:00 Kieran, things I love about Grealish... the list is getting longer after every game!1) He always provides an option to the player on the ball, even when under pressure; 2) He looks after the ball and rarely gives away possession;3) He can dribble inside or outside; 4) He quickly spots a pass or cross in the opposition box; 5) As you say, he brings players to him to create space for others; and6) He gets free-kicks. I was trying to think when we last had a player with these qualities? Honestly, I can't recall anyone as even the '80s team did not have this type of player. Jay Harris 168 Posted 31/08/2025 at 04:33:31 Andy, it's called corruption. Just look at Man Utd. Disallowed a good goal against them even though the VAR picture showed he was onside and then added 11 or 12 minutes injury time. I really believe we should take timekeeping off referees. On the point of Michael Keane, he had a reasonable game but was culpable on both goals failing to stop the cross coming in for the first and allowing the attacker to get between him and Mykolenko.I also think Pickford was at fault for both as he had plenty of time to see what was coming and marshal the defense accordingly. Jonathan Oppenheimer 169 Posted 31/08/2025 at 04:42:21 As a supporter of 10 years, I worried I'd never see the day when our attacking talent would far outshine our defense. Wow, it's a sight to behold. Not much original to say here. Forget the doubters like me, I think everyone must have a little of the Moyes sentiment in them that they didn't expect Grealish to be this good. On pace for over 60 assists this season!Jake was clearly not at his best today and Mykolenko clearly not fit. But a true right-back and a healthy back line and we can start dreaming of a real challenge for Europe and a cup run. Beto and Barry will never be Lukaku, but I think they'll both get their goals with all the attacking talent around them. Better days are ahead. Ajay Gopal 170 Posted 31/08/2025 at 05:35:40 I watched Keane quite closely yesterday and I thought he was the best of our back 4. But I do agree that our defence did not play as a cohesive unit, unlike the attack and midfield who complimented each other well. If there is room to bring in a high quality player, I hope it is for the right-back position. I think Beto and Barry will do as strikers this season, or at least until the January transfer window. Andrew Clare 171 Posted 31/08/2025 at 06:50:06 I was one of the people that had reservations about the signing of Grealish. How wrong was I!What a player. He has transformed our attack. Defenders are quite clearly very wary of him every time he gets the ball. His prescence allows other players more space and freedom.A great signing. Annika Herbert 172 Posted 31/08/2025 at 07:44:31 Mike @ 139, I must be one of the deluded ones because Mykolenko is a long way from being our worst ever player.I can think of a hell of a lot more who were worse than him. Liam Mogan 173 Posted 31/08/2025 at 08:04:39 Mykolenko has had a really difficult pre-season with injuries etc so is nowhere near fully fit. He has his limitations, but at his best is a good defender (see performances against Salah and Saka). I'm sure over the next season or two, if we improve, then we will bring in a better quality left-back. At the moment, it's not priority. On Jack Grealish, he's been phenomenal. I didn't see it coming, thought he was an ale tank whose best days were behind him. Early days but I look to be completely wrong — if he maintains this type of form, he'll be up for Player of the Year. Ian Bennett 174 Posted 31/08/2025 at 08:11:46 Grealish will remain effective if he has players around him making runs and giving him options.Dewesbury-Hall, Alcaraz Armstrong, Ndiaye, Dibling, Beto and Bary will do that.At 29, he's not as quick as when he started out, but his decision-making and understanding is way better. The lifted flick for the Dewesbury-Hall goal, to prevent the cut out, is a great demonstration of it.A great start for him. Clearly needs to stay fit, but Moyes is using him well. I know there was disappointment in him not playing at Leeds, but building his fitness up and using him wisely could be the difference between a top 10 finish and European football. Liam Mogan 175 Posted 31/08/2025 at 08:23:26 I've no idea why Michael Keane was closing down by opposition corner flag for our second goal, but he did brilliantly winning it there. For the third, another much maligned player, Mykolenko, won the ball in the Wolves half which set up the attack from which KDH scored.Closing down like this a sign of an much more confident side. Players know if they win it back, the quality players are likely to create. For years, we have never pressed as we were likely to lose it anyway and get done on the break. Sam Hoare 176 Posted 31/08/2025 at 08:42:30 Like a few others I had some questions over how much appetite Grealish would have and where his current level was after two disappointing seasons at City but he has answered those questions in the best way and even from the first training pics it feels like his desire and conditioning has looked top level. Its wonderful to see the attack looking so much more fluent and creative than it has in years. Now we just need to get the defense back to where it was! A fit Mykolenko will help with that as will the return of Branthwaite. Is it possible he could be paired with Keane who has looked superior to Tarkowski so far this season?!We should be careful of complacency as Wolves are one of the weakest teams in the league and we were fortunate at times against Brighton but its been a really encouraging start to the season. I still think we need a RB and a CDM though Garner has also started the season really well. Apparently Chermitti is off to Rangers for £10m and a good sell on so its possible we might bring in another forward though I think its the defence that most needs reinforcement.I still think 12th looks a decent finish for this squad and it was revealing how much we fell off once Gueye left the field but if we get a couple of more good additions over the next 48 hours and some luck with injuries then perhaps Europe becomes more plausible. Robert Tressell 177 Posted 31/08/2025 at 08:55:02 We concede goals with Keane in the side - because (a) that means Branthwaite is not in the side and (b) Tarkowski and Keane dont work at all as a partnership. Keane has his weaknesses but so does Tarkowski. Its just that the latter is a better leader than Keane and has developed a good relationship with Branthwaite. In the same way Keane developed a decent relationship with Zouma. To say Keane is responsible for goals conceded yesterday is to ignore what a handful of others were doing. It was not a case of clear individual error. OBrien has a long term future as a CB so that probably resolves things - and weve bought 2 teenage CBs since Moyes arrived too. Hopefully Branthwaite can get fit soon - or a new RB allows OBrien to step inside as a CB. Tommy Carter 178 Posted 31/08/2025 at 09:14:01 @176 Sam. It makes the decision to not pick him vs Leeds seem very negligent. Similar caution with Dibling yesterday. Why on earth not bring him on? Sam Hoare 179 Posted 31/08/2025 at 09:36:56 Tommy, Grealish has not played a load of football in the last year or so and had no preseason. Moyes and his team will have done loads of diagnostics on him to ascertain the best way to get him match sharp. If they thought a gradual introduction was the best way to get him into flow then Id say the proof is in the pudding.Similar situation with Dibling Id guess. I can imagine he might have come on if it had stayed 3-1 but the last 10 was pretty nervy and probably not the ideal introduction. Tommy Carter 180 Posted 31/08/2025 at 09:46:48 @179 SamMoyes himself said that he was in fantastic condition. And he started a match 5 days later and was the best player on the pitch. I dont see how 4 days of training would have made that much of a difference and on that basis I cant see why he couldnt have played a bigger role in the Leeds game. The only thing preventing this was the cautious approach from the manager in a game we lost. I also find it concerning that based on what youre saying that Dibling could not be trusted against a team that havent won a league game yet this season. Scott Hamilton 181 Posted 31/08/2025 at 09:53:37 I think Moyes should be sacked and Tommy Carter take over. He clearly knows far more than our current manager and probably wouldve overseen three PL wins, three clean sheets and at least 15 goals (the last one a back heel by Dibling) if hed been in charge… Geoff Lambert 182 Posted 31/08/2025 at 09:55:35 Tommy #155 I f that cross in had been by Grealish and smashed home by Ndiaye it would have been another fantastic Everton goal. Steve Brown 183 Posted 31/08/2025 at 10:05:46 Although I was very surprised we offered Keane a new contract, I thought he played well yesterday and had no responsibility for the goals. For the first goal, Keane had to go to the touchline to challenge the winger. Tarkowski was tracking Hwang but then decided to hand him off to Garner who was too far away to cover. Tarks conceded the penalty at Leeds unnecessarily, almost gifted BHA 2 goals last week and was responsible for Wolvess first goal. The second goal was 100% Myko losing concentration. He was well positioned in the middle of the park and saw Gomes on the wing, but completely lost the player when he went from out to in.Moyes will fix these defensive issues no doubt. Ryan Holroyd 184 Posted 31/08/2025 at 10:25:27 HahahahaEverton win 3 games in 6 days and Tommy still has to pick holes in the manager. Must be really sad to have no positivity in anything Ian Bennett 185 Posted 31/08/2025 at 10:53:26 Most managers want a player to play some element of a game, before they start a 90 when they've had no pre season and been a bit part player the prior 12 months. It's a long season looking after an asset, rather than negligence. If he"d gone off injured, I am sure there would have been plenty saying he wasn't fit to start.3 wins in the week. Utft. Sam Hoare 186 Posted 31/08/2025 at 10:59:14 Tommy, Moyes will often err on the side of caution as we know but hes also privy to a lot of information you and I dont have. As Ian says its pretty usual to ease a player in if hes missed pre season. Imagine the pelters youd be giving him if hed started Grealish against Leeds and he picked up an injury on 60 minutes. Theres a difference between good conditioning and match fit. David West 187 Posted 31/08/2025 at 12:15:31 Think we should keep perspective. Yes we looked really good going forward, scored 3 goals, but it was against a really poor team, who I'd expect to be struggling badly this year. We also let in 2, against a poor team. The positives outweigh the Negatives. 3 points in the bag. Moyes isn't suddenly turning into Martinez he will be fuming with the 2 conceaded. We desperately need a RB now, the 2 CBs although Keanes done well recently, are going to be found out against pace and better players. Jarreds return should help but we need to try and find the games to build the jarred/ O'brien partnership if that's the future pairing. I think Jarred hides and covers alot of tarks shortcomings when they're together. But in Ndiaye, KDH & grealish we have real quality, threat & pace and they look like they are enjoying playing together. I'm not getting carried away, seen too many false dawns, but the signs are good, the football is miles above anything we've seen for ages, we have players other teams are scared of, which hasn't been the case for ages. Tommy Carter 188 Posted 31/08/2025 at 12:15:36 On the contrary Ryan. I am glass half full person. Hence why I feel we should be beating Leeds or at least getting a draw. However from these 3 games I have to say I am more than happy with a 6 point return. 3 huge games coming up after the international break and the way Liverpool have been shipping goals and the way we have been able to create chances in the last 3 games - I will be emphatically disappointed if we fail to put up any kind of fight at Anfield. Bob Parrington 189 Posted 31/08/2025 at 12:19:51 Sam @ 179. Yes. that 2nd goal for Wolves (badly defended) meant that Dibling didn't come on. Maybe not such a bad thing because it will give him time to settle in because of the international break.Shit, I heat these breaks because the regularly start when we are just reaching form????? Dave Lynch 190 Posted 31/08/2025 at 12:24:05 For those whinging about conceded goals remember...this is still a makeshift back 4, Myko and Dibbling won't be 100% match fit and Branthwaite is pivotal to our defence.Let's wait and see when they are all up to speed shall we.We're winning, I'll take that all day. David West 191 Posted 31/08/2025 at 14:30:27 Conceding goals is what loses you points. We will undoubtedly be more open if we play more attacking football, the defence will have to adjust to us having the ball in the opposition final third and teams breaking on us, that's where we will struggle with Keane and Tarkowski. Swap Keane for Branthwaite and that was our back 4 most of last season, so not a makeshift back 4. Yes, it's not our ideal back 4, but unless we sign a right-back, it will be our back 4 again with Keane and Aznou as back-up. Brian Harrison 192 Posted 31/08/2025 at 18:47:32 We Evertonians are a funny lot, for the past few seasons the football hasnt been entertaining and bordering on some of the worst football I have seen in decades. But the last couple of games have been a delight to watch yet many on here focus on the negatives more than the positives. Blimey even Danny Murphy said on match of the Day Evertonians must be delighted with the team Moyes has started to put together, well not on Toffee web Danny.I said when it was rumoured we were in for Grealish that if we got him he would be transformative, don't know how you retrieve old posts but they are there. I also said Moyes needs more quality and in come Jack and KDH and the effect the extra class we have added is starting to show results. Signing a quality player like Jack wasnt a gamble and Moyes knew that Jack would be out to prove Guardiola was wrong to leave him out of so many games at City.Moyes came back when this club was in yet another relegation battle and turned our results around quicker than anyone believed he could, some sceptics put it down to a new manager bounce. I think he is proving give him the players he wants and we will be back up challenging for Europe. Moyes knows as do we all there is more work to be done, but under Moyes relegation battles will be a thing of the past. Dave Abrahams 193 Posted 31/08/2025 at 19:08:23 I only saw the highlights so have nothing really to say about the game except Wolves two goals were down to very poor defenders and the goalkeeper.Im obviously happy with the six points but Ill have to watch them more than three games against average to poor teams before I start over hyping those three performances like some fans on here, lets be honest if they dont get a couple more defenders in tomorrow then well struggle ye Moyes is suggesting if we dont get more players in then well go with what weve got— good luck with that well bleedin need it and plenty of it! Kieran Kinsella 194 Posted 31/08/2025 at 19:13:32 If John Moores were alive Moyes would be sacked as we are only in 5th place. Dave Abrahams 195 Posted 31/08/2025 at 19:26:58 Kieran (194) Come on Kieran Moores would have waited until the 23rd game before he welded the axe not the bleedin third and we are only joint fifth so stop that exaggerating! Robert Tressell 196 Posted 31/08/2025 at 19:30:10 Dave, I think wed be congratulating an excellent cross, run and finish if wed have scored Wolves first goal in particular. You could just as easily describe our three (very good) goals as errors by Wolves in some phase of play. Dave Abrahams 197 Posted 31/08/2025 at 19:55:27 Robert(196) Well Robert how did Keane let the player get the cross in for starters, why did Tarkowski lose the Wolves attacker and why was Pickford very slow in coming out, thats three for the first one, then Pickford pushing the ball back in the centre of the goal instead of outwards? The Everton goals have been celebrated as fantastic for the third one and Grealish getting great praise for the second one when it was Hall who pinpointed the cross for Dnaiye to score the goal but it looked like very good play by Everton players to me. Peter Mills 198 Posted 31/08/2025 at 21:17:41 Dave, we played some very good attacking football yesterday, very good indeed. Dave Abrahams 199 Posted 01/09/2025 at 07:50:31 Peter(198)Yes PeterIm very glad to hear that, my reply was to Robert @(196) who was suggesting that Evertons three goals could be attributed to mistakes by Wolves defenders when it looked like it was more Evertons attacking brilliance that brought the goals, long may it continue, its been long overdue.
