The goals came from Armstrong (3), Davis, Catesby, Clarke and Morgan. Harrison Armstrong opened the scoring on 25 minutes. Luca Davis doubled Everton’s advantage with a smart shot from Harvey Foster’s free-kick, before Joel Catesby finished off a flowing move involving summer signing Justin Clarke and Armstrong to make it 3-0 at half-time. Armstrong got his second of the night soon after the break, courtesy of another Foster assist. And the midfielder capped off a sparking performance by setting up both Justin Clarke and George Morgan for goals five and six. Article continues below video content There was still time for Armstrong to get his hat-trick with virtually the last action of the night, rising high again in the 94th minute to head home from a corner. Everton U18s: G Pickford, Finney, Van Schoor, Davis, Thomas, Foster (60' Olayiwola), Clarke (75' Loney), Matos (60' Gardner), Morgan (75' Wren), Armstrong, Catesby (75' Stewart). Braiden Graham is not playing and I doubt it will be televised although it was advertised as being available to season ticket holders, looks like it is members only — again. Bill Griffiths 2 Posted 11/12/2024 at 19:52:52 3-0 at half time Dave. Danny O'Neill 3 Posted 11/12/2024 at 19:57:40 Watched the first half.Good performance from the young blues.Armstrong is too good for that level. Bill Griffiths 4 Posted 11/12/2024 at 20:29:08 5 - 0 Bill Griffiths 5 Posted 11/12/2024 at 20:38:35 6 - 0 Dave Abrahams 6 Posted 11/12/2024 at 20:46:13 Bill,It looks like we might have a team this season. 6-0 and thats without the young Irish lad Graham! Derek Powell 7 Posted 11/12/2024 at 20:50:12 The future's bright watching the U18s tonight. Leighton has them playing well; a lot of these lads have a future if the right manager brings them through. Bill Griffiths 8 Posted 11/12/2024 at 20:59:22 7 - 0 full-time. Mike Oates 9 Posted 11/12/2024 at 20:59:39 Armstrong reminds me of a17-year-old Jude Bellingham – great build, great technically, pace to burn but very intelligent and elegant player – hope I haven't burdened him. Some other great young kids on display tonight – directness with pace. Bill Griffiths 10 Posted 11/12/2024 at 21:01:19 Some good football and good goals, Dave. Paul Hewitt 11 Posted 11/12/2024 at 21:19:06 Mike@3. But he's no premier League experience, so he's no chance of playing in the first team Sam Hoare 12 Posted 11/12/2024 at 21:21:03 Good result! Read that the last Toffee to score a hatrick in FA Youth Cup was Franny Jeffers. Some good players in this group. Armstrong of course but also Braiden Graham, Pickford, Lukjanciks, Clarke, Morgan, Loney… Tony Abrahams 13 Posted 11/12/2024 at 22:05:26 Those last few words mean everything in modern football, Mike @9 — directness and with pace. Dave Abrahams 14 Posted 11/12/2024 at 22:27:17 Sam (12), Two good ‘keepers in an U18s squad and plenty of quality, it seems, all through the team, with three lads brought in during the summer from Ireland, Scotland and London.Everton might now be the place where top youngsters might want to come to – instead of the last 3 or 4 years where some good young players couldn't wait to get away from. Phil Parker 15 Posted 11/12/2024 at 23:35:22 Armstrong puts me in mind of Trevor Brooking. Some lovely touches, passing and awareness and he has an edge, not the quickest but quick between the ears and he needs a pan of scouse down him. Not ready yet but a real prospect when he fills out. Ben King 16 Posted 11/12/2024 at 23:53:27 Mike #9, your description of Harrison Armstrong is completely different to Phil's #15!!!!Are they really both describing the same player?? Brent Stephens 17 Posted 12/12/2024 at 04:32:46 Mike and Ben, I think the common factor for you both (and me) is what's between his ears. Quick to read a situation, to make a decision and to execute it adeptly.Love him! Derek Thomas 18 Posted 12/12/2024 at 07:04:41 Phil Parker @ 17; jeez, not the "he has to fill out " mantra again. Footballers are first and foremost, middle distance runners, He'll naturally get a little bit bigger, you bulk em up you lose the twitch.Did Kevin de Bruyne or Salah bulk up? Lukaku did at Man Utd and that did him no good at all. Dave Abrahams 19 Posted 12/12/2024 at 10:15:41 Anyone who watched the game — what did you make of Olayiwola who came on as a substitute? He is still at school by the way.Oh and Everton being Everton with their lack of information, Graham has been out for a couple of weeks, turns out he is injured but not a word from Everton about what sort of injury it is. Do they think we are only interested in the first team and those connected to it? I'm more interested in Graham than the latest news on Dele Ali. Brian Harrison 20 Posted 12/12/2024 at 10:22:14 Dave, I always look forward to your comments when any of our academy teams play as I know you take a very keen interest in the youngsters. I must admit I don't watch any of our academy games but usually read the reports of the game. You will know better than me but Baines seems to be doing a decent job with the Under-18s.I couldn't agree more about why Dyche is giving updates on Dele Ali, he is no longer our player, so let's hear more about the fitness of our players, please. Danny O'Neill 21 Posted 12/12/2024 at 10:47:38 I forgot to mention our right winger. For one of the goals in the first half, he powered down the right hand side and made the poor Forest left back look like he was standing still. Dave Abrahams 22 Posted 12/12/2024 at 10:48:12 Brian (20), Leighton didn't have a good first season in the job last season, to be honest. He has been helped a great deal by Thelwell's signing of Graham, although he didn't play last night, and Clarke. Not sure about Loney, I haven't seen much of him. Armstrong was a big boost to the team last night. Let's just say maybe Leighton is growing into the job. Dennis Stevens 23 Posted 12/12/2024 at 11:51:00 I thought Forest's team looked like it was U16, they just seemed smaller, slower & further back in their development as players.Young men against boys, for the most part. Michael Kenrick 24 Posted 12/12/2024 at 12:56:27 The only write-up I can find is from the OS:Classy Under-18s Claim FA Youth Cup Win At GoodisonNo details of the subs, and they don't usually let us access the video after the fact. Pity. Dave Abrahams 25 Posted 12/12/2024 at 14:23:13 The highlights of last nights win are on the Everton FC post, very good pictures and very good goals. John Keating 26 Posted 12/12/2024 at 15:21:28 I hope, if we do loan out Harrison in January, as a few rumours suggest, we try to get him to a good level Championship side rather than a lower division team.Any idea if he's from a family of Blues or will he do an Anthony Gordon on us in years to come and tell us he's always been a Red? Martin Mason 27 Posted 12/12/2024 at 15:27:23 Our DoF did say that very exciting things are starting to happen at the club and he may just be right. Wouldn't it be nice – as the Beach Boys once said…If I look as an independent observer, I'd say that our supporters deserve it too. Mark Murphy 28 Posted 12/12/2024 at 15:56:58 John, when Gordon scored against Liverpool last week, the commentator called him a boyhood Blue… Ian Bennett 29 Posted 12/12/2024 at 21:55:04 https://youtu.be/35mJ_8Cs4hk?si=2tawH7n-3NnmuI_QA fine hat-trick and a lovely assist for the third. He's a big lad and looks a handful in the air. David Bromwell 30 Posted 13/12/2024 at 01:14:25 Well done, Boys, 7 nil is always a great score whatever the opposition, and it's critical that we rebuild the Club from within. Let's hope they keep it going and bring home some much-needed cheer and silverware. Phill Thompson 31 Posted 13/12/2024 at 10:19:04 There's some promising players in this team, as others have said, not all will make it though. Clarke and Graham have been the pick so far, with Clarke showing he's got real pace to burn the other night. And we've somehow managed to get two England youth keepers in Pickford and Lukjanciks, hopefully one of them will make it. The other England player (U16) is Olayiwola and the Wales U17 captain Louis Gardner is one to watch out for too. Michael Kenrick 32 Posted 14/12/2024 at 22:20:31 Judging from the official highlights, it looks like we made five subs, presumably all in the second half. I think these players came on:Gardner,Loney,Wren,Stewart,Olayiwola.I don't suppose anyone remembers when and who they replaced? I can't find this info anywhere. Dave Abrahams 33 Posted 16/12/2024 at 21:02:28 Michael (32) The U21s drew 1-1 with Leicester U21s tonight, Benjamin put Everton in the lead with seven minutes to go but Leicester levelled the scores in the final minutes of the game.
