Kean Wren equalized an earlier goal when he hit a powerful strike from Luca Davis's through-ball but the visitors went in a goal ahead at the break. Harvey Foster restored parity in the sceond half but Davis gave away a penalty. At the other end, Ray Robert won a penalty that George Morgan dispatched with confidence. Great work by Amari Moses set up Harvey Foster for his second goal to give the Young Blues what they thought was a commanding lead in the final stages. But Poland was sent off in the second minute of injury time for an off-the-ball incident, and the visitors scored with the last kick to tie the game. He was in the game all the time both matches, definitely a team player more interested in how the team were performing than getting into the spotlight for himself. Two goals yesterday and I think he's scored a few this season, all from midfield. Phil Roberts 2 Posted 26/02/2025 at 16:03:18 Michael!!!!! Honestly.Davis's through ball??? Were did you go to skool? It is the through ball of Davis - so that makes it Davis' through ball, no need for the extra "s". If it was the through ball of Garner, then that becomes Garner's through ball.At least you didn't do Davi's (which people have done with Roberts) as that would be the through ball of Davi.😊 Michael Kenrick 3 Posted 27/02/2025 at 08:30:38 Phil, I almost took you up on this thorny point when you last raised it. Quite simply, I think you're wrong. Firstly, what causes the letter s to be dropped after a possessive apostrophe is if (and only if) the s is already there to signify the plural:Fishes' tails are scaley. And you don't actually say 'fisheses' as a plural possessive, so that's fine. Then there is the simple logic of the possessive, as signalled by the apostrophe and the letter s added to a noun: David's mannersims; Luca's throughballBut you think, if that noun itself ends in s, (singular or plural) you don't add the possessive s:Moyes' mannerisms; Davis' throughball But that's not how you are saying those words. You are actually saying:Moyes's mannerisms; Davis's throughball But if you think about it logically, why should the rule change just because the word ends in s? It has nothing to do with dropping the second s for a possessive plural. So it's Moyes's and Davis's all day long for me. Sorry.
