My mate and his family are flying up to Chicago. Big West Ham supporters.

Watching the fireworks from Navy Pier was some sight. We visited Soldier Field to have a look around.
There was a bar we went to in the city. I didn't know about it and can't remember the name, but apparently famous for a US TV series and pictures all over the walls of famous people who have visited.

Hopefully, more competitive games against better teams will have us better prepared.
9 Posted 09/03/2025 at 20:00:22
The better seasons under Moyes usually involved strong starts, if I remember correctly.
10 Posted 09/03/2025 at 20:12:12
As Ian W says, let's hope a more competitive pre-season sets us up for a positive August start.
11 Posted 09/03/2025 at 20:47:49
We have all followed different paths and are located all over the place these days. Looking forward to this one.
12 Posted 09/03/2025 at 20:57:12
That's a shame, would have been good to say hello over a beer.
13 Posted 09/03/2025 at 21:04:07
I was there a few years ago when Moyes was manager for pre season game at Chicago Fire's ground. Had a great night there.

I'd love to see us think really big and go for a Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich.
Knowing us we'll probably invite Wigan back lol

17 Posted 10/03/2025 at 05:59:54
I just hope we get a big day for the Grand opening of BMD.
18 Posted 10/03/2025 at 06:22:44
I'll put Roma out there due to the ownership links.
Probably not as glamorous as the names you mention, but it would still be a decent name for the occasion.
19 Posted 10/03/2025 at 06:30:43
Where did you hear that? I cant find it anywhere.
It would be great to see Real Madrid in a curtain-raiser at The new Everton Stadium!
20 Posted 10/03/2025 at 06:35:13
I personally think Roma would be really fitting to play a big friendly game at BMD this summer. We should build as many links as possible and treat their fans really well, create a carnival atmosphere. I still remain hopeful we can pinch a few players from them!

23 Posted 10/03/2025 at 08:43:04
Steve, definitely regarding to Roma. Maybe they would replicate the invite when they move from the Olymico they currently share with Lazio to the new AS Roma Stadium?
24 Posted 10/03/2025 at 08:44:54
Will we have to pay a tariff to play there?
25 Posted 10/03/2025 at 08:58:47
Good tune Mike
26 Posted 10/03/2025 at 09:40:51
Problem is we surely don't want to be badly beaten on the grand opening?
Roma may be a better bet?

Yes Frank, family links to the city of Liverpool apparently.

There is only one true scouser and their identity cannot be changed. Such identity must be verified on such scousers birth certificate by a blood test to confirm colour of such. Blue.
In another world it would be funny... his antics go far and beyond Saturday Night Live parody humour.
I'll not set foot in that country till he and Musk are themselves deleted from history books.
34 Posted 10/03/2025 at 13:31:32
Dyche had us playing Mickey Mouse matches against weak opponents; no wonder we started so poorly every season.

36 Posted 10/03/2025 at 13:55:44
Christine, we are, after all, The Originals. We built this city and soon the waterfront will be lit up in Royal Blue.
Mike, are you taking in any of the matches? I'm planning on Chicago at the moment and considering a bit of a fly around. I was hoping I could tick off a few states to add to my current tally of 30 visited, but they are all in ones I've been to!!
37 Posted 10/03/2025 at 14:21:44
It says very few tickets left [and shows a diagram of the ground]; the cheapest available ticket is $529 and the most expensive, $2,200. This is not some re-seller, this is the club/stadium's own website!

If Trump had been president 85 years ago we’d all be speaking German.
His Tariffs/Pause/Tariffs/Pause/No-Tariffs on car parts/Tariffs/Pause on UMSCA covered goods/Tariffs? policy is a beautiful thing.
40 Posted 10/03/2025 at 15:43:12
Tickets haven't even gon on sale yet. You can register for a presale but that starts Thursday and actual general admission doesn't even go on sale until Friday.

He turned up in Southport, like Thatcher turned up at Hillsborough, only he was a lot quicker on the scene was Sir Kier, that very snide and deceitful human being.
42 Posted 10/03/2025 at 18:59:04
Him. Rachel Reeves and the rest of the treacherous red Tory bastards.
They're even worse than the blue ones
43 Posted 10/03/2025 at 19:10:40
100% on the money Tony, I no longer vote, can’t be doing with the hypocrisy.
44 Posted 10/03/2025 at 19:24:52
45 Posted 10/03/2025 at 19:33:36
At least you expect Tories to be what they are, but Labour? Say one thing do another..
46 Posted 10/03/2025 at 19:34:03
I knew what I'd signed up for and didn't complain, but often wondered what we were doing in some of the places we went to, but it wasn't our job to question, it was to come home in one piece and look after each other. Others weren't so fortunate.
I'll get back on topic. When the tickets come out, I'll purchase for at least the game in Chicago. As I said previously, my good friend and former colleague for over 20 years, who lives in Texas is flying up with his family. He is originally from East London and a big Hammers supporter. He has remained a British citizen, his wife is a native Texan and his two children (dual nationality, born in the UK) are Irons followers.

However, if you're looking at a USA flyaround, come on out to Seattle. It is magnificent in the summer and you would be warmly and eagerly welcomed at the Gaynes Hotel, which offers Mount Rainier views, a splendid in-house chef (not me) and a cute dog named... Danny.
And there's an incredible national park within easy range.

Not sure I'd put Starmer in the same bracket as Trump (that bracket being reserved for those whose egos could easily make the whole world a much worse place). I hate that he's currently following Blair and Brown's capitulation to the rich and influential domestically but he's making the right noises about Putin and Ukraine.
Why shouldn't he have been up to Southport like a shot? I don't think he caused it directly but it's definitely down to him to make sure lessons are learned and it never happens again.

I can't see anything on the club site unless I'm looking in the wrong place.
56 Posted 13/03/2025 at 19:39:00
Soldier Field is an ancient NFL stadium with very little parking, long lines to get in, long lines at the few bathrooms, and long lines at the ridiculously expensive concessions (smuggle your own food).
And getting out after the game is impossible, although that may be mitigated by much of the crowd staying for the second game that night.
Also, the turf is the worst in the NFL, so say a prayer none of our guys gets hurt.

I'm told it's a link from the Premier League to the official Everton website.

Disappointed but not surprised by the preseason tour -- nearest game is 2,300 miles from me. Too bad.
