The Labour Government has today pledged billions of pounds in funding that includes transport projects in the northwest – including new routes from Liverpool city centre to Everton's Hill Dickinson stadium.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced a £15.6B transport package for mayoral authorities across England, ahead of next week's spending review. The Liverpool City Region will recieve £1.6B, and that includes a new bus rapid transit route connecting to Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The transport funding will be used in Liverpool to create a rapid transit system providing dedicated routes using new “glider” vehicles. The vehicles, previewed last summer, look like trams but are designed to run on roads.
The funding will also be used to fund a new fleet of buses as part of the region's soon-to-be franchised bus network. Those buses will roll out in St Helens and Wirral in 2026 and then in Sefton, Knowsley, and Liverpool in 2027.

Rotheram should have been pushing for a new station between Moorfields and Sandhills and re-opening the outer loop line.
Instead we have totally inadequate pens at Sandhills and a, last minute, panic plan for a bridge over the station which has no chance of being ready for August as work has not even started.
Not for the first time, Rotheram has been totally rinsed by Burnham.

Yes, it is expected that the area around the BMD, the new Everton Stadium) will experience gridlock on match days, especially if parking restrictions are relaxed. The Everton Stadium area is likely to be affected by traffic congestion due to increased foot traffic and the potential for cars to park on nearby roads.
The only way round this is a dedicated pedestrian route from the pier head to BMD. Safety is number one priority. Nice looking buses that have more passengers on board is not the answer. A river walk all the way to the ground, surely can't be that difficult or cost that much.
