Season › 2024-25 › General Forum We're back... mostly By Lyndon Lloyd 11/09/2024 31 Comments [Jump to last] I can't lie, the past 36 to 48 hours have been hell but I've finally got the site up and running in all areas apart from the archived articles from past seasons. I'll work on restoring those as soon as possible (although it was the archive database that has caused all the problems in getting the server back working, so we'll see!) but, in the meantime, I hope you missed the site but I apologise for the down time. Thanks for your patience! UPDATE I've received a few emails from folks not able to either log in or post comments. If you're having issues logging in, please try a few times as this has worked for at least one person and remember that both your username and password are case-sensitive. If you're having issues posting comments, please try refreshing the page a few times and, if you're on a desktop, try Ctrl + R or Ctrl + F5 on a PC or Command + R on a Mac. Also, logging out and back in again may help. If none of that works, please try removing all the cookies and cached content associated with ToffeeWeb. Instructions for that are here And if all of the above fails, please send me a message and I'll see if there's anything else we can try. Tony Abrahams 2 Posted 11/09/2024 at 08:28:47 Just when I thought I was out, they went and got ToffeeWeb working again! Rob Halligan 3 Posted 11/09/2024 at 08:30:01 Booooooo……….its back up! Paul Hewitt 4 Posted 11/09/2024 at 08:31:24 My wife will be happy. She doesn't have to listen to me anymore telling her why Dyche is shit. Rob Halligan 5 Posted 11/09/2024 at 08:31:30 No edit button though. Brian Williams 6 Posted 11/09/2024 at 08:42:11 Well done, Lyndon, thanks. John Pickles 7 Posted 11/09/2024 at 09:08:03 Well, I hope that's the last time you use an Uzbekistan update! Dave Abrahams 8 Posted 11/09/2024 at 09:54:39 I've got a new iPad and was going up the wall wondering what I'd done wrong that was stopping ToffeeWeb coming through, there was no message indicating that the site was having problems getting it to work. Then I had a brilliant and sensational idea to look at my old iPad and there it was, the message telling me the score, everyone was in the same loss as me.Nice to see you solved the problem, Lyndon, I've missed all the moaning and groaning from Evertonians all over the world… let them commence again. Ernie Baywood 9 Posted 11/09/2024 at 10:05:33 I can't read anything. Every page I click I get the side menu bar right across the article. And clicking the 'X' doesn't close it. Rob Swift 10 Posted 11/09/2024 at 10:13:50 Well done Lyndon âš½ï¸ Brian Williams 11 Posted 11/09/2024 at 10:24:40 Ernie#9.Yeh Ernie, there was a vote. 😱 Michael Spear 12 Posted 11/09/2024 at 10:51:55 Ernie #9 and Brian#11, if there was a vote it seems to have gone against those on iPhones. I get exactly the same problem as Ernie on mine (using Safari browser) but everything seems okay on my desktop PC (using Chrome). Tried posting this from my iPhone but that didn't work; this is from my PC. Hope Lyndon is paying attention! Michael Spear 13 Posted 11/09/2024 at 11:15:21 Everything ok on my iPad (Safari) and now realise that everything is there on my iPhone if I scroll down past the annoying menu list that pops up across the page. But it still won't go away! Brian Williams 14 Posted 11/09/2024 at 11:26:37 Give Lyndon and Michael a little time to sort things Michael.Sure things will be back to normal as soon as they can make it so. Jack Convery 15 Posted 11/09/2024 at 11:33:50 Modern Tech eh Lyndon. Thanks for getting us Blue Loving Scribes back in the Loop. Whatever you do, do not watch EFC v Villa. You'll be pulling your hair out, wondering why you bothered ! Andy Crooks 16 Posted 11/09/2024 at 12:09:05 Dave, Lyndon is too polite to say, but your new iPad caused it!! Dave Abrahams 17 Posted 11/09/2024 at 12:15:12 Andy (16), Yes, I even thought that my iPad had caused the problem so I said a few prayers and lo and behold ToffeeWeb was fixed, never doubt the power of prayer, Andy! Mike Doyle 18 Posted 11/09/2024 at 13:12:38 Although the site was down, I caught up with a couple of episodes of Grace - and with Sam Hoare appearing it felt that the spirit of ToffeeWeb was still alive. Rob Halligan 19 Posted 11/09/2024 at 13:27:31 Does anyone know how to get the edit button back? Brent Stephens 20 Posted 11/09/2024 at 13:31:19 Thanks, Lyndon. I bet it was Dyche's fault, not changing things quickly enough. Christy Ring 21 Posted 11/09/2024 at 13:46:36 Great to be back Lyndon, was in good form yesterday, now with the site up and running, depression setting in! Mark Murphy 22 Posted 11/09/2024 at 14:34:49 Mike, I'm a fan of Grace myself but I don't get the connection? Is Sam Hoare “our” Sam Hoare? An old Etonian Evertonian??? Lyndon Lloyd 23 Posted 11/09/2024 at 16:14:52 Not sure where the Edit button went as that is completely unrelated. I shall investigate Dale Self 24 Posted 11/09/2024 at 16:27:27 I got the DTs without TW. Thanks for the fix and thanks for putting up with us, Lyndon and Michael. Darryl Ritchie 25 Posted 11/09/2024 at 17:16:46 I was reading a thread, hit the arrow to get back to the home page... and then nothing... blank screen. I thought I must have done something to crash it.Omigod...I've busted ToffeeWeb! Paul Ferry 28 Posted 11/09/2024 at 20:13:50 Indeed he is, Mark, but to be fair Sam didn't jump on board the old boys bus to Trinity, Cambridge. I first saw him treading the boards in Breakfast at Tiffany's at Theatre Royal Haymarket. He was better in Captain America, The Guardian said. Alan McGuffog 29 Posted 11/09/2024 at 20:22:21 He could be the new Leonard Rossiter! Lyndon Lloyd 30 Posted 11/09/2024 at 23:44:18 Michael S. and Ernie, is that problem still happening on your phone?Try reloading the page a few times. If the problem persists, you may need to remove the ToffeeWeb data from your Safari/browser cache. It would mean having to log in again but it should resolve the issue.Instructions are here: Link Simon Harrison 31 Posted 13/09/2024 at 16:03:02 Hi Lyndon,As of last night, I was still having problems with the 'Edit' button. When you click on it, there is no immediate response, despite clicking several times with several seconds between each click, then at some random time later (10's of seconds) the edit message appears; very odd?I'm using Win 11, on a laptop with VPN secure browser, but it also happens in Chrome (Latest updated ver) and Safari (Latest updated ver) Simon Harrison 32 Posted 13/09/2024 at 16:04:04 NB Please delete message 31 from me, just tested it on message 31 and it is working better than before... Some benefit of the crash I hope? Hehe Edward Rogers 34 Posted 16/09/2024 at 21:52:42 Brent @ 20,More likely to be Calvert-Lewin's fault... isn't everything always his fault? (Groan!)
