    Mar 31:  Once again Everton came through when the chips were down with another brilliant display at West Ham. Niclas Alexandersson sealed the three points following David Unsworth's penalty. Tony Hibbert was handed his debut by Walter Smith.

    Mar 30:  Former Blue Tony Cottee became the first player to play in all four English divisions in the same season when he came on as a sub for Millwall against Wycombe on Tuesday. He started the season with Premiership Leicester before joining First Division Norwich and then becoming player coach of Third Division Barnet.

    Mar 29 - Former Everton star Alex Young will be honoured with testimonial as part of Everton's pre-season programme next season, 30 years after he finished his playing career for the Blues. Half of the proceeds will go to the Everton Blue Blood Foundation.

    Mar 29 - Everton Reserves finally claimed top spot with a tremendous 3-2 victory away to Manchester United, Nick Chadwick scoring the last-minute winner.

    Mar 27 - Everton have taken former non-league Atherstone striker Gareth Seddon on a week's trial even though he is employed by the RAF.

    Mar 27 - May 4th is the date when Everton will unveil the long-awaited statue of the club's record goalscorer, William Ralph "Dixie" Dean, in front of the Park End Stand at Goodison Park.

    Mar 26 - Everton's relegation crunch game with Manchester City will be televised live on Pay-Per-View in the US but won't be on Sky Sports in the British Isles.

    Mar 25:  Paul Gascoigne may not be in much of a position to help the situation because of his endless succession of injuries but he tells the Official Everton site that Everton are too good to get relegated this season.

    Mar 24 - Abel Xavier and Mark Pembridge are fresh doubts for next weekend. Xavier pulled out of Portugal's squad yesterday with - guess what? - a knee injury, while Pembridge only managed 45 minutes for Wales.

    Mar 24 - Everton's U-19s march on with a 5-0 win over Wrexham as they look to secure a semi-final playoff place along with winners of the other three regional groups in the FA Youth Academy U-19 League.

    Mar 23 - Shock injury news? Yeah, right..... More like the next installment in a long and boring serial: Gazza has more knee problems, needing fluid to be drained from the joint. Will he play v West Ham? Or be out for the season???
      
    Mar 22:  The home derby vs Liverpool has been moved back to 6pm on Easter Monday, and will now be shown *live* on Sky Sports.  No details about overseas coverage available yet; check your usual Live tv sources for local coverage.

    Mar 22 - Anders Limpar, the enigmatic Swede who played a key role in Everton's 1995 FA Cup win, has finally retired at the age of 35. And Tony Cottee has joined Milwall.

    Mar 22 - Another product of Everton's Youth Academy shunned by Walter Smith is allowed to walk away as Jamie Milligan accepts a free transfer to Blackpool.

    Mar 21: Walter Smith has rejected speculation that he will be making a deadline-beating bid for promising Manchester United forward Jonathan Greening. In fact, he doesn't expect anything to happen before tomorrow's 5pm cut-off for domestic transfers, despite the injury situation at Goodison.

    Mar 21 -  Consecutive wins in three days over bottom club Sheffield Wednesday, this time by 3-0, put Everton Reserves top of the FA Reserves/U21 League (Northern Section). [No report yet...]

    Mar 20 - Michael Ball has pulled out of the England U-21 squad with a knee injury � sustained in training!  Also, Paul Gascoigne picked up a knock in training, and will miss tonight's reserves match at Sheffield Wednesday.

    Mar 19 - Everton reserves continued their push for the top with a late win over Sheffield Wednesday.  Steve Milne reports on two trialists and a slew of first-teamers in the line-up. 

    Mar 19 -  Portuguese midfielder Bruno Caires arrives from Sporting Lisbon, to train with the first team squad members who are not away on international duty.  

    Mar 17 - The Under-19s beat Liverpool 2-1 to go six points clear in the Northwest group table of the FA Youth Academy U-19s League.

    Mar 17 -  Glaring tactical ineptitude by Walter Smith appeared to cost Everton a perfectly winnable match at The Dell as a disorganised Everton team could give no reply to a goal by Tessem for Southampton.

    Mar 16 - Michael Ball has been demoted from the full England squad, and joins Franny Jeffers in the U-21s to play Finland next Friday.

    Mar 16 - Tony Cottee has left Third Division Barnet, where he was player-coach, by mutual consent.

    Mar 15 - Scott Gemmill has been recalled to the Scotland Squad, joining David Weir for World Cup Qualifiers v Belgium and San Marino.

    Mar 15 - Danish international  midfielder Brian Steen Nielsen has rejected terms for a 3-month loan deal, and will now be staying with AB Copenhagen.

    Mar 14 - A strong Reserves side beat Aston Villa tonight, with a goal from David Eaton. Full report and teamsheet from Steve Milne.

    Mar 13 -  Kevin Campbell has agreed to a surprisingly lucrative and surprisingly long 4-year contract extension he has been offered by Everton.  

    Mar 12 - Thomas Myhre has joined FC Copenhagen on loan until the end of the Danish season in order to get some regular first-team football.

    Mar 10 - Everton's FA Youth Academy Under-19 team continued their excellent form with a 2-1 win away to Stoke City.  Report from Steve Milne

    Mar 9 - According to media sources, Viking Stavanger are getting a bit upset about Everton's failure to pay a further �230k for Thomas Myhre now that he has played more than 75 games for the Blues.

    Mar 8 - Barry Horne, player-coach of Kidderminster, has been mysteriously relieved of his duties.

    Mar 7 -  Tabloid speculation over the future of Francis Jeffers and Michael Ball keeps step with Everton's growing overdraft...  Is it only a matter of time before these players leave the sinking ship?

    Mar 6 - Francis Jeffers, apparently angry that details of his contract negotiations have been leaked to the press, publicly responds via his agent and says "wait until the summer"

    Mar 6 - Stephen Hughes' move to West Ham is off � so says our old friend 'Arry... Yeah, right!

    Mar 6 - As a softener for the almost inevitable sell-off of Everton's most prized youngster � Francis Jeffers � news of his failure to agree to a hugely lucrative new contract worth �8M has been leaked to the press.

    Mar 5 - According to media sources, Stephen Hughes was in London talking to the 'Ammers' 'Appy 'Arry but Everton say that West Ham have made no enquiries about the availability of former Arsenal midfielder, who appeared for the reserves in Newcastle. 

    Mar 5 - Gary Naysmith will be out of action for 3 weeks with the injury sustained against Newcastle at the weekend. 

    Mar 5 - The Reserves went down 1-0 at Newcastle tonight, with Stephen Hughes going off after sustaining a gash to his calf!.  Allessandro Pistone also played after a long injury lay-off.  Also, Kevin McLeod has been given a 2-year contract extension. 

    Mar 3 - David Unsworth was villain then hero at Goodison Park, scoring a late equalising penalty to atone for an earlier own goal as Everton rescued a vital point against out-of-form Newcastle United

    Mar 2 -  The media say he is off to West Ham next week on a free transfer but rumours on Merseyside say Stephen Hughes is happy at Goodison and has been told nothing by Everton officials of any impending return the London.
