Aug 31: Francis Jeffers hopefully avoided injury while playing for England U-21s and scoring in the 6-1 win over Georgia.

Aug 29: The proposed transfer of defender Richard Dunne to First Division Wimbledon has fallen through after the parties involved failed to agree personal terms.
Aug 29: The deepening injury crisis at Everton is looking grim:
Gough out for 6 weeks (knee)
Pistone out for 4 weeks (hamstring)
Xavier out for 4 weeks (knee)

But Alex Cleland should be back for the reserves at Blackburn tonight.
Aug 28: Everton have narrowed the Goodison pitch yet again, making it one of the tightest at just 70 yds wide.
Aug 27: Everton Ladies lost 2-1 to a strong Arsenal team in their home match at Marine FC.
Aug 26: Walter Smith fears the worst as Richard Gough limped off with suspected knee ligament damage v Derby!!!
Aug 26: After a slow start against Derby County, Everton finally began to tick just before half-time with goals from Jeffers and Gravesen. But Everton lost it in the second half, as Derby came right back with two goals.
Aug 25: The CAS don't give any support for lifting Abel Xavier's ban, which does not contravene Uefa rules.
Aug 25: Unsung defensive lynchpin David Weir is being offered a new 4-year contract with Everton, signaling Walter Smith's faith in his man.
Aug 24: Francis Jeffers has been called up for the England U-21 match next Wednesday.
Aug 23: A nervous start for what was supposed to be a solid home bet... and so it turned out after Carl Tiler was dismissed for Charlton Athletic , and the goals finally came from Jeffers, and a brace from returning hero, Duncan Ferguson.
Aug 23: Although Walter Smith says he needs all his players, the departure of Richard Dunne to Wimbledon is expected to be completed soon after the Charlton match – with the big Irish defender still suspended for the next three matches.
Aug 22: The return of Kevin Campbell is being hyped up at least a month too early as he obviously still has some way to go before he will figure in Walter Smith's squad rotation scheme.
Aug 21: The injury list lengthens with Michael Ball and Stephen Hughes picking up knocks at Elland Road.
Aug 21: A relatively weak Everton reserves side beat Manchester City with a solitary Chadwick penalty at Widnes.
Aug 20: The transfer of Idan Tal from Maccabi Tikva Petah is all but complete, and now hangs only on securing a work permit, which Everton have applied for.
Aug 19: Duncan Ferguson and Paul Gascoigne came off the bench to great receptions from 4,000 Evertonians, but the damage had already been inflicted by Leeds United and Alan Smith, cruelly exposing defensive weaknesses that continue at the back for Everton
Aug 18: After reporting this deal was done (blame Sky!), Everton are finally saying that terms have been agreed with Idan Tal and his Israeli masters.
Aug 17: Abel Xavier is to fight his unfair Uefa ban through the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Aug 17: At a 3:30pm press conference, Everton revealed the resigning of Duncan Ferguson after a 21-month sojourn with Newcastle United. The fee is £3.75M, representing an excellent deal compared to the £8M Newcastle paid Everton.

Aug 16: The ankle injury Niclas Alexandersson picked up v Man City has ruled him out of tonight's Swedish friendly, and he is a doubt for Saturday's opener at Leeds.
Aug 15: Duncan Ferguson failed to turn up for the first part of his medical today (Tuesday), and his agent is insisting the deal is dead.
Aug 15: Richard Dunne has traveled down to London for talks with Wimbledon after Everton received a £2.5M bid for the young Irish International.
