New Everton Director: Anita Gregg
14 January 2005

The records contained at Companies House can make quite interesting reading... if you know where to look.  Take the list of Directors of Everton Football Club.  We all thought it was down to three: Bill Kenwright, Jon Woods, and Paul Gregg, although in the Club's Annual Report it was made known that Keith Wyness as CEO had also been made a Director, appointed on 13 September 2004.

But there was no mention at last month's AGM of another addition: Anita Gregg, who was appointed on 8 December 2004 — just the day after the AGM.

Anita Gregg is the wife of Paul Gregg, and was a significant shareholder in True Blue Holdings Limited.  If we assume an equivalent prorating of TBH Shares into Everton Shares when TBH was dissolved, then Anita Gregg now controls 11.8% of Everton stock — slightly more than her hubby, Paul, who has 11.6% by our reckoning.

Apparently, the significant ownership of shares in TBH entitled the players to directorship in EFC, although only Paul Gregg previously took this option.  What interest Anita Gregg has in the operation of Everton FC remains to be seem but, as a significant shareholder, she obviously has an interest in overseeing the future of her investment — to the tune of around £3½M.

This development also raises the possibility that the Gregg family shares (23.3% when you include their son David Gregg's 0.8%) may not necessarily be used en bloc.  This could be of particular significance if the Fortress Sports Fund ever comes to a vote before an EGM — and there is still precious little sign of that happening any time soon...
