Danny O’Neill 2 Posted 02/05/2024 at 20:32:16 Good result for Villa if this holds. Rob Halligan 3 Posted 02/05/2024 at 20:48:50 No such good news for Villa in their Euro Conference league semi final against Olympiakos. They trail 2-1 at half time. Was worse as they trailed 2-0. Rob Halligan 4 Posted 02/05/2024 at 21:32:58 Villa now 4-2 down, after pulling it back to 2-2. Kieran Kinsella 5 Posted 02/05/2024 at 21:41:00 No offence to Villa but, if Olympiakos progress, it will at least add some variety to the competition, eg, a Greek side in a final as opposed to the usual dominance of the "Big Four" (England, Germany, Italy, Spain). Rob Halligan 6 Posted 02/05/2024 at 21:50:23 Villa miss a pen. Pathetic kick by Douglas Luiz though, one of those little stuttering run ups, and then kicks it wide. Just run up and smack it in, for fuck's sake! Brendan McLaughlin 7 Posted 02/05/2024 at 21:56:55 Rob #6That's my definition of foreplay... Dale Self 8 Posted 04/05/2024 at 13:15:03 Disgusting penalty call Laurie Hartley 9 Posted 04/05/2024 at 13:17:56 Havertz is a cheat. I can't stand Arsenal. Dale Self 10 Posted 04/05/2024 at 13:24:08 I am a recent Arsenal hater convert. Maybe it is only the USA or California contingent but over time I've found their fans to be condescending shits. Not one has talked football lately. Les Callan 11 Posted 04/05/2024 at 13:28:25 Can someone shut that commentator up. Talk about verbal diarrhoea. He's worst that Martin Tyler. And as for the woman. Dale Self 12 Posted 04/05/2024 at 13:48:08 Bournemouth are making this interesting. Two strong sequences into the box from the left and right sides. John Hughes 13 Posted 04/05/2024 at 13:53:20 I'm with you there Dale. As a lad, back in the late sixties, early seventies the Gunners were pretty much my “other team†if you like. Now I despise them and have done since the arch angel Wenger introduced the dark arts to them. Arteta is another disciple, cheating and conning people left, right and centre.Theres only one other club I detest more. Stephen Davies 14 Posted 04/05/2024 at 14:09:33 I can understand why the Ref gave the penalty but I can't understand why Var didn't send him to the Monitor...Var has effectively made the decision there AND they had the benefit of seeing exactly what Havertz did !.. Cheating... Gerrard used to do the exact same thing Dale Self 15 Posted 04/05/2024 at 14:50:49 I have not seen a referee sent to the monitor and keep the original call So the ever so weak contact created by Haavertz's intentionally unnatural leg movement was enough to not review. If Bournemouth made it to halftime goalless and then opened it up like they did, they could easily have scored first. I take that first sentence back, I have seen a few. Dave Abrahams 16 Posted 04/05/2024 at 15:12:27 John (13), Arteta was a cheat before he became a disciple of breaking the rules, I used to scream at him at Everton for going down when he lost the ball and looking for a foul, the refs. got used to him and ignored his play acting after a while. Other fans would have a go at me when I called him out” They all do it “ was their answer “ Doesn't matter how many do it, it's still cheating “ was my reply then and it still applies now except pundits give them credit for doing it with their “ He was entitled to go down there “ and referees are going along with it! The game stinks to high heaven now and unless time is called on the way the game is played now it will get worse. The skill in todays football is much higher than it was but so is the win at any cost attitude. Dave Cashen 17 Posted 04/05/2024 at 16:01:12 Dyche defied gravity at Burnley for years. The reception he got when he went back with Everton showed how popular he was with genuine Burnley fans. Kompany was hailed as a massive upgrade by some on here, but he couldnt keep them up for a single season. He'll struggle to amass 25 points. Rob Halligan 18 Posted 04/05/2024 at 16:29:38 Forest lead Sheff. Utd 2-1, meaning Sheff. Utd have conceded 99 league goals so far this season. Anyone hoping Forest don't score again and we can make it 100 goals conceded next week? Rob Halligan 19 Posted 04/05/2024 at 16:31:24 Forget that. Forest just scored again. ☹ï¸â˜¹ï¸ Christopher Timmins 20 Posted 04/05/2024 at 16:48:12 Bottom three are hopeless, their respective points tallies are embarrassing! A good season to take some points deductions.Unfortunately our main problem is financial viability which will time and more pain before it's solved. Rob Birks 21 Posted 04/05/2024 at 16:55:24 Iwobi is still useless. Watching the game and rime and time again he messes up. Paul Ferry 22 Posted 04/05/2024 at 17:40:17 Foden, de Bruyne, Haaland, Rodri - it's not fair And a pen .... Rob Halligan 23 Posted 04/05/2024 at 17:47:31 Very harsh penalty that. Paul Ferry 24 Posted 04/05/2024 at 17:49:18 it was Rob but Wolves look like damage limitation already - glad to see the backs of Luton nasty little town full of nasty little nationalists, they're down now Paul Ferry 25 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:08:15 jeez height Haaland gets for that header - proverbial salmon Gerry Quinn 26 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:10:04 Paul, was impressed with the height that DCL gets - especially that one yesterday that the goalie saved Rob Halligan 27 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:13:55 Paul, Haaland is about eight foot tall, don't forget! 😀😀 Rob Halligan 28 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:15:26 Pen, and therefore should be a red. Paul Ferry 29 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:16:44 true Rob - he's massive - that looked more of a pen than the pen Paul Ferry 30 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:17:24 They were just saying that on Sky Gerry - yep has to be a pen Gerry Quinn 31 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:17:51 There is a 3" difference in height between them - I am sure that Paul will know what a difference 3" does make???? Paul Ferry 32 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:17:56 and he has to give a red card right if it's a pen? Rob Halligan 33 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:18:58 Unstoppable, but why was it only a yellow card, as surely Samedo is the last man, took Haaland from behind and prevented a goal scoring chance? Paul Ferry 34 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:20:11 I think the sky commentator said it couldn't be raised to a red after/by VAR Paul Ferry 35 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:22:18 How good is Gardiul / Guardiol / Gaadeeeoll??? Paul Ferry 36 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:24:14 Still playing and the empty City seats behind the Wolves goal is just amazing. Gerry Quinn 37 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:30:37 Sums them up...plastic fans Paul Ferry 38 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:32:55 is right Gerry, City got a corner and free kick in that last minute Mike Gaynes 39 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:36:46 Rob/PF, the current rules against double jeopardy mean you can't give a last-man red AND a penalty. If it's a last-man foul outside the box, it's red. If it's in the box, it's yellow. Giving both a pen and a red for that would have been too harsh. Paul Ferry 40 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:46:07 Nice one, Mike, though seems all bollocks to me, so any lad can do anything he wants outside the box when someone darts ahead of him and just get a yellow. We didn't get any fecking double jeopardy with our points cut! Mike Gaynes 41 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:47:34 That tall blond kid for City seems to have some decent potential. Paul Ferry 42 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:49:18 feck me what a goal, finish, and two passes Paul Ferry 43 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:49:47 who's Mile? Brian Williams 44 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:50:07 If Everton had scored that stunning goal some on here would be complaining it was "hoofball." Michael Kenrick 45 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:50:08 His 4th goal just brilliant from the big bloke there. Paul Ferry 46 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:53:03 I'm 20 points clear or thereabouts in the ToffeeWeb fantasy league with no reed shite unlike everyone around me - can anyone not see City winning all their games? I want 'teta to win it though. Brian Williams 47 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:55:02 I want City to win it myself coz it'll piss the redshite off no end. Paul Ferry 48 Posted 04/05/2024 at 18:58:04 True Brian. Svein-Roger Jensen 49 Posted 04/05/2024 at 19:00:09 Haalands 25th goal Paul Ferry 50 Posted 04/05/2024 at 19:00:19 Didn't see that the tractor boys got promotion, well done them, so that's Forest and Ipswich who we will be better thaan next season - need Norwich or West Brom to win the play off Mike Gaynes 52 Posted 04/05/2024 at 19:32:58 PF, Ipswich have been promoted two seasons in a row and their Mourinho-educated manager has infused them with massive confidence and terrific organization. Do not assume that we are better than them. Paul Ferry 53 Posted 04/05/2024 at 19:55:02 I have to MG. Yes Kieran McKenna has done a great job there and maybe Nathan B will score a few against us, they love him in Tractorville. James Flynn 54 Posted 04/05/2024 at 20:03:10 Don't know if this will post. Great photo.LinkSo, Nathan Broadhead hung in there with Ipswich Town and made it to the big league after all. Shane Corcoran 55 Posted 04/05/2024 at 20:31:12 Mike, I think that rule only applies if the ref deems that an attempt was made to play the ball. If not, it's a red and a penalty. John Hughes 56 Posted 04/05/2024 at 20:33:18 Rob Halligan & Paul Ferry. New rule is that, if the referee deems that the defender made a genuine attempt to play the ball but mis-times, then it results in a yellow, as opposed to a cynical attempt to take the player out, which equals a red card. Paul Ferry 57 Posted 04/05/2024 at 20:36:45 Thank, John. Bill Gall 60 Posted 05/05/2024 at 14:39:36 Looks like it is goodbye, David Moyes.West Ham 3-nil down after 35 minutes. Colin Glassar 61 Posted 05/05/2024 at 14:48:13 Part of his business plan, Bill. He's earned more in sackings than even Mourinho. Steve Brown 62 Posted 05/05/2024 at 16:14:01 70 goals conceded this season by West Ham.What happened to Dour Davie? Michael Kenrick 63 Posted 05/05/2024 at 16:49:56 Poor wee Davie must be sobbing into his porridge. I feel so sorry for him. How embarrassing losing 5-0 to Chelsea.Oh, er... wait a minute. Gerry Quinn 64 Posted 05/05/2024 at 17:03:17 Idolising that twat Klippety Klopp - I wonder if he will get banned from the rs training ground like their other "god" Shankly was? Simon Dalzell 65 Posted 05/05/2024 at 17:07:20 Outrageous Dive from cheat Gakpo. Unpunished as usual. Rob Halligan 66 Posted 05/05/2024 at 17:16:20 Does this commentator support the shite? He screeches the names of all RS players, but it's barely a whisper for a Spurs player. 2-0 now, so it's goodbye to the CL for “Big Club my Arse†Spurs. Edward Rogers 67 Posted 05/05/2024 at 17:19:57 Big Club? Spurs are dreadful, they think they're prime Barca with all this passing around at the back. Bloody suicidal!!!! Paul Ferry 68 Posted 05/05/2024 at 17:42:31 Johnson had to score there. The Red Shite were top of the table 4 weeks ago. Spurs fans slinking off home – not bad subs though, Maddison and Richarlison. Gerry Quinn 69 Posted 05/05/2024 at 17:48:13 I wonder what their fans would be like if they were in our position? Can't imagine the media bawling out all the shite they print for them... Paul Ferry 70 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:00:42 Richy boy - goal and assist Paul Ferry 71 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:02:25 Spurs fans singing 'You lost the League at Goodison Park' Mike Doyle 72 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:06:22 I wonder how Richarlison views his move to Spurs? Cannot believe he's happy being on their bench (or anyone else's) Paul Ferry 73 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:07:52 I think he misses last games of the season at Goodison Park Mike Gerry Quinn 74 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:08:09 4-2 - come on you Spurs (but definitely not after tonight!) - get 2 or 3 more... Mike Doyle 75 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:12:47 I'm sure he does, Paul. Also, when with us, he was generally a starter in the Brazil side. That's no longer the case. A great player – I hope he moves to somewhere he'll be appreciated. Rob Halligan 76 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:20:13 This commentator has gone very quiet the last fifteen minutes or so. Must be shitting himself should Spurs pull another back. Paul Ferry 77 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:21:34 He's had a string of unlucky injuries and he also spoke courageously about his mental health - he will not say how much money he has given for poverty, sanitation, and the environment in his home town but it will be in the multiple and maybe many millions. Paul Ferry 78 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:24:50 MUTE!!!! Paul Ferry 79 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:29:18 Bingo gums teeth making a complete tit out of himself there Colin Glassar 80 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:31:57 If Richarlison had come on 20 minutes earlier, Spurs could've won that. Son is a greedy little shit and the fat Aussie is overrated. Can we get Richarlison back, please? Rob Jones 82 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:40:19 Don't know about 'won', Colin. But Son is a shit, and I've never understood the sympathy the prick got after his shithousery on Gomes. He was never getting the ball, and he would have known it going in. Mike Gaynes 83 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:46:01 Rob, I'm always bemused by the obsession over a yellow card foul committed 4 years ago. I've got a friend who is still absolutely raging about it. Rob Jones 84 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:50:52 Mike, look at the 10 seconds before the foul. Son had just been made to look a fool. He then dives in. "Yellow card foul" or not, Son never had any chance of getting the ball. He wrecked Gomes' career with that tackle, and because of his tears, and by virtue of playing for a media darling team, he didn't get the kind of opprobrium that (for example) Pickford got for injuring Sir van Dijk. Also: since when do Everton fans forget anything? Ever? Brian Williams 85 Posted 05/05/2024 at 18:56:05 Mike. I was there that day and I still rage about it. I was that mad, and that distressed for Gomes, I left the game as soon as I saw how bad it was. Son had lost his rag because Gomes done him with skill. I can still see the look of sheer anger on that twat's face as he lunged at Gomes. He's a first class cunt! Tony McNulty 86 Posted 05/05/2024 at 19:03:21 I too was there that day. Sheer petulance as he lost his rag when he lost the ball. And then we had the crocodile tears. Jay Harris 87 Posted 05/05/2024 at 19:12:10 Anyone else think it had to be a penalty for dangerous kicking (at head height)? Mike Gaynes 88 Posted 05/05/2024 at 19:22:53 Come off it, Rob, Son didn't "wreck Gomes' career" with that tackle. First, it wasn't the tackle itself that injured Gomes, it was banging into Aurier's planted leg. This wasn't Neil Taylor showing his studs and shattering Seamus. It was a stupid yellow card foul and an accident. Second, Gomes was and is no worse a player after the leg break than before. People somehow have these rosy-hued memories of the pre-injury Gomes, but the fact is he was an absolute failure, a total flop except for one outstanding performance at Anfield. He had played about 40 games for us and scored one pitiful, meaningless goal. He was an "attacking" midfielder who couldn't attack, and cost us games with stupid giveaway fouls around our own box. The previous time we had played Spurs at home, when they scored 6, he was made to look totally ridiculous by Dele. And third, the injury wasn't some horrible catastrophe. Andre missed 14 games, just over a third of the season. And we took 25 points from those games. It was our best stretch of the season. Given his skills, Andre's career has never been much more than a wreck in my view, injured or not. He's probably a better contributor now than he has ever been, just by taking those idiotic fouls out of his game. Hey, if you guys want to keep raging at Son, be my guest, but in my view it's been historically overblown. Rob Jones 89 Posted 05/05/2024 at 19:34:19 An accident that happened because he went for a fucking stupid tackle which never stood a chance of getting the ball.Your assessment of Andre Gomes's career is largely based on what you think a player in his position should achieve. And doesn't erase the fact that the tackle took away what pace Gomes had beforehand. But we're not going to agree, and I don't see a plus in picking a fight, let alone with a poster I generally agree with more often than not. So I'll apologise and bow out here. Paul Ferry 90 Posted 05/05/2024 at 19:41:17 "Also: since when do Everton fans forget anything? Ever?"I've forgotten the 0-5 Rush derby Rob, three 1980s cup finals, Alan Biley, Mike Walker, 0-7 Arsenal, Lampard's goal at Elland Road etc. Mike Gaynes 91 Posted 05/05/2024 at 20:53:37 No apologies, please, Rob... debates are fun! And where else can we have them? I'm a long way from the Bramley Moore. I had a beaut with Pete on the same subject in his living room on my visit last fall. He's on your side. Danny O’Neill 92 Posted 06/05/2024 at 06:30:00 Gomes was affected, both physically and psychologically by that injury. He is a very talented football. In the right midfield with "work horses" around him, he can have an impact. Mike, it's Autumn!! Although New Hampshire in "the Fall" is stunning. Danny O’Neill 93 Posted 06/05/2024 at 14:18:10 Well, rumour season is starting. All speculation and lazy press reporting. Tuchel to Manchester United from Bayern. Ten Hag to Bayern. I think they're making it up.Moyes apparently on his way out from West Ham with a manager I've never heard of apparently agreeing a deal.Meanwhile, according to my family, Liverpool going for the Feyenoord manager, Slot.Moyes to Burnley? It will be an interesting summer. Paul Ferry 94 Posted 06/05/2024 at 20:53:03 Man Utd are so fecking poor here. Paul Ferry 95 Posted 06/05/2024 at 21:27:04 What is this fucking obsession with Dutch managers? Bill Gall 96 Posted 06/05/2024 at 21:30:32 I can't see Man Utd getting many praises for this performance, once more going on their tarnished reputation.Time for a managerial change, I think Paul Ferry 97 Posted 06/05/2024 at 21:37:03 4-0 embarrassing. The distance is enormous between Ten Haag's mediocrities and the Top 3... Billy Bradshaw 98 Posted 06/05/2024 at 21:39:39 Mike @ 91, I hope you are okay after falling in Pete's living room. Rob Halligan 99 Posted 06/05/2024 at 21:44:49 Why Branthwaite would want to join this useless bunch of shite, god knows? Paul Ferry 100 Posted 06/05/2024 at 21:50:56 Having the same thought myself, Rob. There will be nothing but confusion, concern, and disarray there this summer. And Ratcliffe thinks he's going to breeze in and sort it all out?!Jarrad should swerve Man Utd and Ratcliffe's promises and overtures. Soren Moyer 101 Posted 06/05/2024 at 22:00:43 How the hell did Man Utd do the double over us!? They've been shit all season. John Raftery 102 Posted 06/05/2024 at 22:02:35 A point just being made on Sky that the Man Utd fans, the majority of them, stayed until the final whistle despite a 4-0 hammering. I wish our fans would do the same in similar circumstances. Bill Gall 103 Posted 06/05/2024 at 22:11:09 Pretty strong language on the Man Utd manager from Michael Owen and Paul Scholes, saying he should no longer be allowed near that team and more words to that effect. I'm nearly crying in my beer… but will have to stop laughing first! Paul Ferry 104 Posted 06/05/2024 at 22:11:16 Wonder what sort of send-off Moyes will get on Saturday? Paul Ferry 105 Posted 06/05/2024 at 22:12:29 You started early, John! What a week you picked to watch Everton!Hope you will write something. Brendan McLaughlin 106 Posted 06/05/2024 at 22:20:02 Paul #104,Think he will get a lot of applause. Perhaps not on the Richter Scale of his Goodison send-off… but close. Paul Ferry 107 Posted 06/05/2024 at 22:21:56 Me, too, Brendan, and it's not so close to the pitch there. The hostiles will be relieved that he is going; the rest will be respectful; and Moyes is peeved this time as he got the boot and is not leaving on his terms. Danny O’Neill 108 Posted 07/05/2024 at 06:45:02 I never leave until all of the players have left the pitch, John, regardless of the result. Like you say, I wish all supporters would do that.I appreciate people want to get home, but stay until the end. I always have done. Tony Abrahams 109 Posted 07/05/2024 at 08:12:24 It's incredible to think that Moyes got the boot after delivering silverware to a club that has never really won much for the first time in 43 years, and yet he was clapped out of Goodison despite not winning any silverware for a club that was a lot more used to it, after 11 trophy-less seasons and never winning a game away from home against any of the top four teams. How Moyes, got 11 seasons is completely staggering, but the man who benefited the most got an unbelievable 23 seasons.Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Fucking Dear…🤮🤮🤮 Dave Abrahams 110 Posted 07/05/2024 at 08:50:44 It shows up football in a big way these days that such a mediocre manager with a really dour nature can become a multi-millionaire with so little talent. And yet he was given a tremendous send-off on his last day as manager of Everton. Well I believe he got a great send-off — I was on my toes and away as soon as the final whistle was blown. The appointed manager of Man Utd was still giving contracts out to Everton players in his last months here — shows how well Kenwright was running the club.Oh dear, indeed, Tony. Brian Harrison 111 Posted 07/05/2024 at 09:34:01 Dave @110,I actually thought you were talking about The Gruffalo when I read your first line! When I read on ToffeeWeb fans suggesting a man (who had a worse record than Mike Walker) not winning a game in 15 games, is the right man for our club? Yet they criticize Moyes who, in most of his time, kept us around 7th with little or no money to spend. Many come on this site saying we need to buy unproven talent cheap, polish them up and sell them for much gold, just as Brighton have done over the last few years. But Moyes did that better than anybody, he kept this club afloat financially by doing this coupled with the money we received for finishing 7th. No, he didn't win any trophies but, given the shit show he inherited from Walter Smith and where we were when he left is why he was applauded in his last game at Goodison. Could he have played a more attacking style? Probably, but The Gruffalo is playing agricultural football and is being praised for it.Despite West Ham fans not being happy with his style of football, let me tell you it's infinitely better than what Dyche has on display – and he did win them a European trophy, their first trophy in a very long time.Football fans are never happy. Michael Kenrick 112 Posted 07/05/2024 at 14:10:14 Brian, No, he didn't win any trophiesCome on, Brian – of all people, you should know that's not true.Virtual Jackpot if you can name the trophy Moyes won as manager of Everton? Christine Foster 113 Posted 07/05/2024 at 17:57:45 David Moyes released at West Ham, no extension of contract. Despite Tim Howard's praise, the West Ham board don't see him as the messiah nor do they rate his style of football, so often the complaint at Everton. For a club with delusions of granduer, winning a European trophy was not enough, they don't want risk-averse football, they want expansive football, to play with style (lose in style more like). Where does that leave Moyes? Is he just a different version of what we already have? Probably in fairness a better manager but have we fallen so far that we would even consider replacing Dyche for Moyes? Or is it just the other side of the same coin? Tony Abrahams 114 Posted 07/05/2024 at 19:05:15 Moyes got a few Manager of the Season awards, didn't he Michael?I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him back managing Everton in the near future if there is any truth in these rumours about Timmy Cahill and the Qataris, judging by the way some of his ex-players hold him in high esteem. That last sentence made me smile, Brian, because your defense of Dour Davie is very admirable. Dave Lynch 115 Posted 07/05/2024 at 19:21:50 As an Evertonian, one thing I have always held sacred is honesty and commitment to the club. Many have displayed a total lack of this, including Kenwright.Moyes imo displayed a total lack of respect to Everton, not only in the way he left but the fact he tried to sign some of our best talent for no money...t hen accusing Everton of holding their careers back when we wouldn't sell.I don't like the man, his statement when asked what does it mean to be Man Utd manager really boiled my piss: "It means I can now go out and try to win football matches" or words to that effect.Man has no class. Brian Williams 116 Posted 07/05/2024 at 19:24:58 Moyes back at Everton! For fuck's sake, no! Danny O’Neill 117 Posted 07/05/2024 at 19:37:03 It seems strange to me. My distant relative, Moyes lead West Ham to a European trophy less than 12 months ago.I get they have had some poor results, but they are comfortably sat in 9th place, although, without our points deduction and a win, we'd be right up there with them. The fickle nature of football. Not sure where he goes from here. Maybe Burnley could be a shout depending on what Kompany does. Davey has links to the North West. Mike Gaynes 118 Posted 07/05/2024 at 19:41:55 Birmingham relegated -- among them former Blues John Ruddy and Lukas Jutkiewicz. Condolences, lads. Brian Harrison 120 Posted 07/05/2024 at 20:05:27 Michael @112,I suggest you read my post again where I clearly said "no, he didn't win any trophies" while with us. Barry Rathbone 121 Posted 07/05/2024 at 20:10:48 Moyes wouldn't last 5 mins here the days of accepting any style to survive are long gone. Remember his first full season was 7th and a decade later his average was 7th/8th without any silverware via mostly defensive footy that collapsed in big games. That cack wouldn't be entertained nowDyche will be gone by Xmas unless he combines results and near peak Barca performances because fans demand everything – regardless of circumstances. And what fucking circumstances we have here.Be hilarious if he did turn up mind… Kieran Kinsella 122 Posted 07/05/2024 at 20:17:18 Brian,Michael may be alluding to the illustrious "MLS Cup". Dave Abrahams 123 Posted 07/05/2024 at 20:44:05 Brian (111), Yes, there was little money to spend when Moyes was manager yet he was one of the highest-paid managers in Europe and he was paid more than any of the players. In fact, he said, in his opinion, the manager should be the highest-paid person at the club. He might not have had many arguments against that if he had had the talent to back it up – but he definitely didn't, preferring trying not to lose instead of going out to try and win some games. For me, my shout of “Free at last, Free at last, Free at last, when he went still holds true today, for me anyway, Glad to see the back of him. I wish the other fella was still here as well so I could see the back of him. Michael Kenrick 124 Posted 07/05/2024 at 21:25:32 Brain @120, I likewise suggest you re-read my post @112 where I quote that statement from your earlier post that says: "No, he didn't win any trophies" but indicates that you may have not quite got all your facts straight. Paul Ferry 125 Posted 07/05/2024 at 21:39:49 Hummels, what a player Colin Glassar 126 Posted 07/05/2024 at 22:38:33 I love watching these defensive master classes. Well done Dortmund. Danny O’Neill 127 Posted 08/05/2024 at 13:06:57 Hummels is pure class, Paul.Several Bundesliga titles and a World Cup winner's medal not to forget his German cup winner's medals. And still going strong in his mid-30s.If he fancies a swan song in the Premier League, I'd take him tomorrow. Wishful thinking!! Paul Ferry 128 Posted 08/05/2024 at 20:11:19 Yes, Danny, wonder if this will be another all-Bundesliga final – I was in London the last time, was it 2013 or 2014? Those Bayern and Dortmund fans do not like each other, do they!Meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy Madrid v Munich. What a treat! Paul Ferry 129 Posted 08/05/2024 at 20:29:53 Neuer, what a keeper! Rob Halligan 130 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:44:39 What were you saying, Paul? Paul Ferry 131 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:47:51 Got to feel for Neuer, ex-Stoke striker scores. Rob Halligan 132 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:48:33 Madrid lead 2-1 now. Paul Ferry 133 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:48:41 Ha, yes Rob, so sad though and what a block that was from Dier. Paul Ferry 134 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:49:06 Offside, mate. Paul Ferry 135 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:49:29 Actually… maybe not. Kieran Kinsella 136 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:49:40 Joselu — the Amokachi of Madrid! Paul Ferry 137 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:50:36 There is life after Stoke. Rob Halligan 138 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:50:48 Joselu was clearly onside. Munich also took Kane off. Rob Halligan 139 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:51:17 There's no life in Stoke! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Paul Ferry 140 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:51:36 Good 8/9 minutes left. Paul Ferry 141 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:52:25 I can confirm that, Rob, after spending 9 years with the only beautiful girl in Stoke. Michael Kenrick 142 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:52:52 Why isn't Joselu offside when the ball is played through to Rudiger? He's in an offside position and obviously gaining an advantage — he scored! If he'd been onside, he'd have been further back and may well wouldn't have scored. Surely it's all the same phase? Paul Ferry 143 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:57:41 Jude was poor tonight Rob Halligan 144 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:58:05 Was the referee giving two fingers to everyone just then, or saying two minutes left? Paul Ferry 145 Posted 08/05/2024 at 21:59:16 Zwei minuten mas. Tony Abrahams 146 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:01:44 No, Michael, he isn't interfering with play during the initial phase, and then he's behind the ball, and therefore back onside, to side-foot home the second goal. Rob Halligan 147 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:01:53 That was onside for Bayern then. Early offside flag rules it out… and The Dinosaur reaches yet another Champions League Final. Paul Ferry 148 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:03:04 Teuchel acting like a total knob. Tony Abrahams 149 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:03:43 Terrible officiating from the linesman, Rob, and a lot more contentious than the Madrid winner, imo mate. Kieran Kinsella 150 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:04:42 Somewhere, Ian Edwards gently weeps into his half-and-half scarf… Bill Gall 151 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:05:56 Strange, it usually takes the linesman a few minutes to call an offside — he raised his flag right away that stopped the play, the goalscorer was not offside, Paul Ferry 152 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:07:31 I can't believe that late decision, Tony, that linesman better not go anywhere near Bavaria anytime soon. Bringing Kim on was a big mistake. Bayern the better team over the 2 legs — well done, Crosby's Carlo. Rob Halligan 153 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:11:32 Tony, I think it was Rudiger's arm which was playing the Bayern player onside. The linesman was way too quick putting his flag up for that one. Tony Abrahams 154 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:13:59 I thought Bayern were very wasteful tonight, Paul, which surprised me. Ancelotti left Everton in May 2021 and, three seasons later, he his through to his second Champions League Final. The Bernabeu looked incredible tonight, and being both a lunatic and a true believer in Everton Football Club, I'm hoping that our soon-to-be new stadium will look equally impressive once we finally get back on the right track. The officials are told to keep their flags down, so he should be forced to explain why he instantly put his flag up, but this simply won't happen. No wonder so many people are frustrated with certain elements of the modern game. Jack Convery 155 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:19:33 Tuchel did know Real Madrid always do an amazing comeback. Taking Kane off let Real put more players forward. Awful decision if he put his flag up for offside. Maybe he thinks it was a foul by Muller. However he should let the play go until the ball goes dead. Paul Ferry 156 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:26:00 You're right Tony. They looked really well drilled at the back until Kim was brought on. Neuer was superb before that horrow show. Bayern midfield was disappointing and Sane was hardly ever in the game. But taking Kane off was utter madness. Teuchel will go now and he would have killed to say goodbye/feck off after a Wembley win. I don't think much of the New Wembley to be honest; the arch is decent at night. Bramley Moore is a far more interesting and spectacular stadium. Yes Jack, the linesman is supposed to wait to put the flag up. Michael Kenrick 157 Posted 08/05/2024 at 22:29:41 Tony, Thanks for that… but doesn't this describe exactly what happened:A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate.Very literal, I know, but that's the Law! Danny O’Neill 158 Posted 09/05/2024 at 05:33:13 Carlo's Real Madrid left it late, but got the job done. Good luck to him. An ex-Everton manager against a former Klopp club in the final! Tony Abrahams 159 Posted 09/05/2024 at 08:10:17 Thanks for that Michael, and just more confirmation that even the officials are getting completely confused by the laws. The fact that the goal was given by a man sitting in a VAR studio, away from the pressure inside the stadium, just makes matters a whole lot worse, especially for people, who just don't believe there is any corruption in the sport.I have never been a fan of many referees (because most of them are very arrogant, imo) but I genuinely feel sorry for them now because I feel the game has become almost impossible to officiate. It's so fast, it's full of cheats, and a lot of the laws are still completely subjective, mainly because the sport is now so saturated on the television. Dave Abrahams 160 Posted 09/05/2024 at 13:21:03 And now it has materialised that the linesman apologised to both Bayern's manager and the goalscorer.Tuchel made it known that he can't buy anything with an apology! Paul Ferry 161 Posted 09/05/2024 at 20:02:04 Should have kept his mouth shut, Dave.
