Everton welcome AS Roma to Goodison Park on Saturday for the final pre-season friendly before the Premer League starts next week.

In what might have been a celebration of new ownership under Dan Friedkin, that has now fallen flat since Friedkin pulled out of his bid to buy Moshiri's shares in Everton last month. But the friendly with his Serie A team goes ahead on Saturday, kicking off at 5:00 pm.

Sean Dyche has been ultra-cautious in his handling of possible player injuries, wth a number of players being withdrawn from pre-season action to help ensure minor niggles do not become bigger problems. But that was unavoidable with Youssef Chermiti, who suffered a foot injury in training that required surgery.

The other player recovering from surgery is Jarrad Branthwaite, who had work done on a groin problem early in pre-season, which he has entirely missed.

Dele Alli continues his long road back to fitness, working with Everton at Finch Farm even though his contract has expired.

But Jordan Pickford should finally return in goal in place of Joao Virginia who has played in all pre-season games so far, after the England goalkeeper retuned to Finch Farm on Monday following his post-Euros break.

Derek, there’s a ‘how to watch Everton vs Roma’ link on the app (and I assume website) for members, so you should be able to watch it.

My brother and his kids are over from Thailand, so we’re making the pilgrimage to Goodison Park whilst we can. I’ll be trying to get to as many as I can this season, I know the tickets will be hard to come by.

Looking forward to visiting family and the city, hope we are treated to a bit of entertainment this evening before it all kicks off next week.

Dogs walked and fed. On my way shortly. I'll be outside the Harlech. Looking forward to this. I have a soft spot for the Giallorossi from my time in Italia

Hi Rob, firstly thanks, and made up for you and your family visit today. This will obviously be the most competitive of our friendlies, at least on paper. Be interesting to see or know, if Dan Friedkin will be there. I believe it is almost a Sell-Out so if he is, he will experience, that unforgettable and impressive atmosphere from a packed Goodison, hopefully cheering on a winning and entertaining side.

He may even re-consider coming back to the negotiating table, now rumours are that John Textor is back in the running. After all, that is apparently what he did with Roma - walked away initially then returned. However they weren't burdened with the debts that Moshiri and the Maggot managed to accumulate. Definitely not in bed with 777 either which is the whole stumbling block.

And people wonder why I detest Moshiri !

Tell Ali to go already. We are not a charity. Has Baron Von Boxnfail came back?

Looking forward to the game and a with a deep sense of hope, for the future and nostalgia and some sadness, for the last preseason friendly ever at the Old Lady.

Scary where the years have gone and so in less than 12 months Everton will have moved on to B M D.

Hopefully very soon Everton will have secured new ownership and God please ensure the new owners will be good ones.

I reckon Ali will get a run out today and lets see but looking forward to see how Everton shape up and looking to see if Dybala and Tammy Abraham both play. It's a friendly but the real business is v Brighton.

UTFTs!

Paul@6. Dele isn't being paid while he trains with us. So how does that make us a charity.? Could it not just be we are helping him to get fit and back to playing football. Hardly a bad thing we are doing.

Totally agree regarding the Dele Alli situation, he is NOT been paid but has chosen to stay on (hopefully once fitness regained) with the possibility of being a free signing. So in many ways he has not just taken us for granted and piled up his Bank Balance. He could have walked away but chose to continue his rehabilitation, perhaps a sign of gratitude and a degree of loyalty. ' Not biting the hand that has fed you '.

A fit Dele is probably as good, or better than anyone we have at present. I, for one, hope he does stay, either as a regular or on some sort of Pay per Play Contract (don't know if they even exist these days). Could be interesting times ahead especially when we play Spuds !

Give Dele some credit. He is now contributing free of charge - he's injured on his own time. That should speed up his recovery and search for the next mugs.

I'd be loyal at £100-150k a week for 2.5 years covering or 369 minutes played.

£13-19m for one assist against Palace is pretty expensive...

I havent seen any of our pre season games but I am going today, I am encouraged by the reports that it looks like Dyche is trying to move away from the long ball game, thats been a feature of his style since he took over. I realize with the points deduction and little money to change things he has done a very good job. But I want to go to Goodison and be entertained and not be self reliant on dead ball situations. I would hope that we do become a side of retaining possession, which we seem to struggle to do, and hopefully find a cutting edge upfront something we have lacked for a few seasons. Now whether our style has limited our attacking options, so hopefully if Dyche is trying to change then lets hope we see our central midfield getting into the opponents box, and maybe even seeing our fullbacks overlap a bit more.
