Fatal Attraction
28 April 2006

I bet Brian Labone would be wanting Tim Cahill to be fit for the World Cup.  And so am I.  Instead of worrying about Cahill leaving us after a good World Cup — as if we are some poor, pitiful, helpless little club — let's up our standards a little!  And let’s worry about who we can attract here this summer with Moyes in charge instead!  And to think about that, we have to go back to Wayne Rooney.

Before I'm told to 'get over Rooney' or that I don't 'know the history' of my club in some feeble attempt at deflecting the truth — think about these magical Moyes quotes.

"At least I don't have to sell players.  I can keep those I want to keep, and that gives you a platform,"

"You don't feel as though you're having to chop and change.  When I came I was promised that nobody would be sold unless it is with my understanding.”

"the sale of Rooney gave us £27M in the bank and it cleared some debt and gave us the prospect of buying players in future"

"We can't cope with any superstars at the moment; we're not at that level."

I’m not making these quotes up.

I translate this to "I can't cope with great players at the moment, I'm far too clueless" and “I'm fully aware of the finances and always had it in my mind to cash in on the kid”.  Wayne Rooney, obviously an influential figure amongst his fellow professionals, was here at Everton, and was sold by Moyes.  The epitome of a good, young player, was misused, mistreated, and manipulated by Everton FC — and that includes David Moyes.

Players talk amongst themselves.  Of course they do.  You see it when opposing teams meet at Domestic, European and International level.  So why would Scott Parker or any other decent young player of note want to come to Everton and play for Moyes now?  Think about it.  Moyes was in cloud cuckoo land chasing the likes of Parker.  And why would a decent young striker of note want to join the club that, under this manager, is best-known amongst footballers, all over Europe, and particularly in Britain, for selling a figure like Wayne Rooney — just when we could get the highest price for him?

That is what Everton are known for now.  That’s why we couldn’t sign a decent striker last summer.

Has there been a modern-day manager who has spent even £2M on a player, played him once in half a year, and then in a resigned, amateurish and shameless way, sold him at a loss?  Name one such example?

To say the signing and selling of Krøldrup has also made us a less attractive team to join is an understatement!  Think about it ffs!  If a Danish player has a choice between Everton and West Ham now, who will he choose?  And then replace Danish with Swedish or Norwegian and you might just get what I’m trying to say.  Bad for the club.  Very bad. Whose fault is that? Wyness?  No; Moyes.  Do you think the next Michael Laudrup will now want to play for David Moyes?  I wonder what potential Serie A targets will now be making of Mr Moyes now that Krøldrup has filled them in?  So why do we still want Moyes to lead us?  Check out this magical irony below.

"What do I look for?  Well, first impressions are always important to me. Does the player look right? Is he pleasing to the eye? Your eye tells you something immediately. You then develop your thoughts. Would he fit into the Everton team and its spirit? Can you picture him in your team? Is he ready for your team? Would he help the players you already have? Can he play freely? It's hard to judge players on a few sightings. You need an incredibly well-trained eye to do it in one match – I don't think anyone truly can." — World Soccer

This was Moyes speaking on his way to watch a Denmark International prior to us signing Krøldrup!

Doesn't that shock anyone?  He asks all these questions but then sells a player after one appearance — a player he felt was worth £5M?  Am I missing something here?  Why are we accepting this sort of absolute shit from a manager?  Smith would be slaughtered yet Moyes is hardly tentatively questioned.  Then he shamelessly re-signs Stubbs who he should have never let go in the first place!  It's a joke!

We have to question Moyes's judgement!  If we don’t, then we are letting our club down.  Our first target this summer will predictably probably be someone like Traore!  Moyes is predictable.

What happened to all those who said we'd get £8M+ for Yobo?  Still believe it?  If Moyes can't even get him to sign a contract out of loyalty even if he is then to be sold, then what have we gained from signing him?  Marseille got £5M.  What are we gonna get?  If Moyes had a plan, then it wasn't a very good one was it?  What is he building?  Wake up!
