Fellaini still recovering in Belgium

Marouane Fellaini remains in Belgium as he recovers from the knee problem that ruled him out of his country's World Cup qualifying double-header against Serbia and Scotland last week.

David Moyes is hopeful the midfielder can recover in time for the Goodison derby against Liverpool on Sunday week.

“Marouane is doing his work in Belgium with the boy we know there,” said the Everton manager.

“We are comfortable with that. It was arranged once he got his injury. He quite often goes to see him.

“We're okay with it. If we aren't going to use him this weekend, it's not going to be a great problem to me.

“We have been out to see him, and he's doing okay.”

Darron Gibson returned to training earlier this week having been absent since limping out of the 2-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on September 1, Moyes is more cautious over the Irishman's fitness.

“The progress is slow,” said the Scot.

“He's got a tendon problem in his thigh.

“He's been doing quite a bit of training but we're not quite sure where he is at yet.”

Fellaini and Gibson will be joined on the sidelines by Tony Hibbert, who is still striving for fitness having been out for the past month.

“Tony Hibbert's not there yet,” said Moyes. “He's started a little bit of training so we're hoping by next week he'll be okay.”

Good news, looks like Gibson's problem could keep him out until early November. But I hope that both Fellaini and Hibbert will be back for the derby.

Interested to know why he's staying out in Belgium and not returning to M'side for treatment! Could it be that this is to keep his (good) progress out of prying eyes and to smuggle him back into Goodison on the day with RS believing he's still injured?!

Perhaps its so that a flight (albeit short) dosn't aggrivate anything to put the recovery back a few days.
