Mirallas injury may not be too serious

Kevin Mirallas left Goodison Park on crutches, sparking fears he had suffered a broken a metatarsal bone, but initial tests yesterday are believed to have indicated it is not that serious.

It remains uncertain if Kevin Mirallas will be fit to face Fulham on Saturday after the Belgian international escaped serious injury from a disgusting kick by Luis Suarez during the derby.

The 25-year-old was unable to carry on in the second half of Sunday's 2-2 draw, after suffering pain in his foot following the dreadful challenge by the widely hated Uruguayan cheat.

No doubt Mutant Beaver Man was the first on the phone to ask how he was doing.

Thank god, thought Liverpool were going to get away with their usual trick of derailing our entire season in a derby either through a suspension to key players (Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar) or through injury. Mirallas and Pienaar down the flanks will give some teams an absolute chaisng this season.

I hope this is true. After false hopes with previous wingers (Shandy, Billy and the like) I think Moyes has really found a gem in Kev.

"the dreadful challenge by the widely hated Uruguayan cheat."
Thats quite a strong statement there in the Liverpool echo, or has it been altered. It of course is true but never thought anyone outside of the Toffees would say it so emphatically!!!

Distin's achilles could be a bit sore for Saturday... who was that 'tackle' by?

That fucker Suarez. First he disables Mirallas, and then later he steps on Distins wrist, on purpose.

I hope that piece of shit goes to a jailhouse and drops the soap bar in the shower.

Shame he couldn't play second half he played with glimpses of Zidane in his prime...

Makes you wonder what would happen if an absolute shit of a man, but of great ability, played for Everton.
Moyes obviously looks for great character in his signings... a few Dutchmen aside... so it won't happen on his watch.

Don't need to be a detestable character to have great ability. Messi and Iniesta are the perfect examples of this. Even the so-called bad characters from the premier elague who everyone hated could still draw admiration. it was often because they were so good that you hated them. Everyone hates Suarez regardless of what club they support because even more than being a nasty piece of work he's a cheat, cynical tackler who'd think nothing of ending someone's career, plays the perennial victim, and is a racist. I don't want anyone like that at Everton. To add to all this he's not even that good. Apart from donking in two free kicks that we should have just defended normally he caused us relatively few problems. He does the same thing over and over again, if someone would just tell Distin and Jagielka to keep their legs shut then he'd be largely ineffective. Ironically its Carrol who always worries me whenever I see him coming on against Everton.

Suarez' whack on Mirallas' ankle was clearly an accident.

He was going for the knee and missed.

It's nice to hear DJ basher, telling the world that we are like Stoke, we do have something in common, tho'. the mighty shite, failed to beat both of us.
As a young Blue fan said on talk sport, this am, has Mr wonderful looked at the league table lately?

I am just wondering whether to send in the celebration cock up, after Sewerage's goal was disallowed.

Had to laugh when I read on Monday that it was his teeth that were offside !

That piece of lowlife scum will end someone's career one day.

I have watched him over the past couple of seasons and he tried the same against Man City when he stood on Kompany and then started rolling around like he'd been shot.

He does it a lot to players he is getting no change out of, or, are causing them problems. Watch him next time they play a decent side, he drops deep purposely at times, the cretin is pure scum.

Hope Mirallas is back, he looks another player who can really make a difference and if you have him and pienaar on both flanks playing well then we are going to create chances. No word on Gibson, anyone else get the feeling he may spend more time on the treatment table than the pitch? If so we need a good replacement in Jan.

Sam, have received info from the lad in my office, whose mates works for finch farm...etc etc. To be fair he has been right more times than not and he states Gibson is miles away from full fitness....... looks like Neville in the midfield for the foreseeable then.....doh!

In fairness Gibson has had one bad injury. He was almost ever present from January to the end of last season. I've no idea how hard he's working or how bad his injury is or anything like that but I don't think we should label him injury-prone just because of one bad one.

James,

He was almost ever-present from January to the end of last season.

You really ought to do some fact-checking before you mis-speak: Gibson was injured for seven games in that period — 30% — in two separate spells.

Added to the current injury, I'd say "injury-prone" is unfortunately all-too accurate in Gibson's case.

James, didn't Gibson miss a big chunk around March time? He was definitely injured for the Anfield derby

Gibson's fitness record, was the problem at United, maybe that's why we got him for the fee we did?

Thanks Tony, though not good news. The omens are not great for gibbo fitness wise and sadly central midfield is where we most lack strength in depth. Through in the fact that Fellaini and Neville are one card of a suspension and maybe we might have to bring back Barkley early even though i'm a big fan of his being on loan.

One thing is for sure, central midfielder is top of the priority list come Jan.
