Transfer Deadline Special Edition

With tomorrow's 11pm transfer deadline approaching, rumour and speculation have gone into overdrive with all signs pointing to Everton relinquishing hold of Marouane Fellaini following a decisive bid from Manchester United.

Sport Wereld in Belgium are seemingly confirming well-placed sources on Merseyside that the midfielder will make the switch on Monday in a deal worth €28m (~£24m).

Alan Nixon in the Sunday People claims that the agreement is a £36m deal where the Blues have asked that a season-long loan arrangement for England U21 starlet Jesse Lingard be included in the deal. That fee and the Lindgard aspect are believed to be well wide of the mark (perhaps Mr Nixon was inferring Lingard on loan represents some level of remuneration for Everton) but a number of media outlets are reporting that Fellaini will be leaving Everton before the deadline.

Rumours had been circulating on Saturday that both Fellaini and Leighton Baines would be moving to Old Trafford for a combined fee of £45m but there has been no reliable word so far to confirm that assertion.

Nevertheless, James McCarthy is hotly tipped to be brought in as the Belgian's replacement for a fee of around £13m, while Gareth Barry is believed to be coming in on loan from Manchester City.

They are not the only players being linked with late moves to Goodison in the notoriously unreliable Sunday papers. The Mirror suggest that Roberto Martinez is also looking at drafting in Feyenoord's £10m-rated centre half Bruno Martins Indi and Ryan Bertrand for £7m from Chelsea as a replacement for Baines at left back. According to a separate report from the same newspaper, Everton are also pursuing a loan deal for Victor Moses but Liverpool look the more likely to tie up a deal for the Chelsea forward.
