Osman: 'No player is bigger than the club'

Leon Osman says he will be unplugging from the transfer deadline day madness, hoping that come Tuesday morning, Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini are still at Everton.

The 32 year-old midfielder admits, though, that should either player leave, the Blues will adapt out of necessity as they have done before following the departures of the likes of Wayne Rooney and Mikel Arteta in the past.

“I'm going to turn the telly off and hope they're still here come Monday night,” Osman says in The Mirror

“Nobody wants to lose their best players. Every Evertonian is hoping that won't be the case, but we live in the real world and things happen differently than you want them to.

“Of course, we would survive, though. As with any club, no player is bigger than the club. If someone goes, you move on, you adapt, you find new ways of playing without those players.

“You will end up getting new players in who will make you stronger in different areas. Whatever happens come Monday night or Tuesday morning, we will move on and make ourselves strong.”

As the transfer window enters its final 24 hours, Fellaini appears to be the more likely of the two players to leave, with Manchester United reportedly close to securing the Belgian in a £25m deal but Baines is still the subject of feverish speculation also linking him with a switch to Old Trafford.
