U18s win well against Derby County

Everton U18s beat Derby County U18s 4-2 at Finch Farm this morning, after twice coming from behind, with goals from Simms (2) and Phillips (2), one of those being a penalty.

An eventful first half saw Everton turn it around after twice going behind. Kieran Phillips with two, one from the penalty spot, and Ellis Simms with the third, and Everton's top scorer would seal the win with a second goal and Everton's 4th just 2 mins before full time.

The U18s have now won eight out of their last nine games, Simms has scored 16 goals and Phillips is also into double figures.

Everton U18s: Tyrer, Zuk, Warren, Joe Anderson, McKeown [Y], Iversen, Adedoyin (85' Warnock,) Carroll [Y] (61' Hughes), Simms, Phillips (c), Hunt [Y] (74' Quirk).
Subs not Used: McIntyre, Thompson.

Mike (2), put that down to Michael.

By the way, I think you're getting the Everton U23 game over in America, I live 5 minutes from the ground and still trying to get it on my iPod, I'm bleedin' useless with all modern stuff.

I should have been at the game to be honest but something came up.

Michael, we play in Halewood. That's where Finch Farm is. The Red Shite play in Kirkby.

Steve (9) I think Liverpool are showing it on their channel.

Michael, I would have taken my mates to watch this game but to be honest none of them have seen a Red Shite first team game for at least 30 years, argue like fuck over games they've only seen on TV. When they get to a final, I always tell them they should be in line for a ticket as they never miss a game on TV.... If looks could kill!!!

That kid who came on as a sub is Chris Quirk's son, Dave, so you're going to definitely have to look out for him!

Tony (11), yes I was reading about him in the summer. I think he was one of the new boys coming in for their two-year apprenticeship. He described himself as a nephew of Duncan Ferguson; I don't think John Parrott got a mention. I'll keep my eye out for him.

Simms again!

I want to see this kid in action.

Appreciating that these are kids playing but, kids' league or no, Simms is pouring them in. Has anyone gotten a good look at how he plays? I've seen goal-scoring highlights, I'm asking about his all-round game.

James (14),

No, I haven't seen him yet, maybe they could put him on the bench when we play the Afican team a week tomorrow. I got my ticket for that game, so would love to see the lad's all-round game.

I saw Simms last night for around 15 minutes against Oldham. In all honesty, he looked a little lost against experienced defenders.

He's probably too good for the Under-18s, not good enough yet for games such as the Checkatrade Trophy, but should start to be played against other U23 sides. Especially as I was very disappointed with Sambou, he fell over at every opportunity!!
