The Last Chance Saloon

So here we are entering the last week of the summer transfer window. The fact we haven’t signed a striker, the critical business, means that we really have walked into the Last Chance Saloon.  Worse still, we are at the bar and telling the barman we want a drink, no, we need a drink, but we’ve no money to pay for it.

The barman laughs and says “Sorry son, no tab for you – rumour has it you’re already in debt up to your eyeballs.”

The drunk begs and begs but the barman holds fast: “I can’t risk losing this place to help you, buddy.”

It’s a long hard season, our squad is thin, we accumulate injuries, we can’t score goals…  Something has got to give. The next 7 days is make or break for Everton Football Club and we are leaving things very, very late.

Even more so when you consider that, although the striker position is an overwhelming priority, there are other positions to address.

So here’s to us buying a striker worthy of the name, and winning the next three games. Then we go into the International break and consolidate.  All is not yet lost, but we have to find a way of getting that drink in the Last Chance Saloon.

Beg, steal, borrow – or get the six-shooters out, whatever it takes!

Anybody seen this article in The Telegraph from Carragher about how bad it is being an Evertonian in the Premier League?

We’ll lose 0-2, Paul.

Tony, even if we win tomorrow it's just papering over the cracks. As we are, this club is finished if we don't bring in new owners. Kenwright has bled the club and Moshiri dry to his benefit. I've supported this club from day one, and will continue no matter what. But my hopes are fast fading. I only hope that this club is still in existence come next season.

Blooming heck Paul @ 5, how old are you mate, been here since day one, no wonder you're a bit cranky!

I'd seen the headline but unfortunately the Telegraph operates behind a paywall or at least wants the reader to join up with them. It does look an interesting piece.

Tony, at the last chance saloon we are going to need a whole load of six shooters to get us out if the shit we are in. Billy the kid, Pat Garret, Butch Cassidy and Jessie James
plus John Wayne won't be enough signings to get us out of Dodge city. The sheriff is out for our blood with a very large posse.

Last chance saloon indeed Tony, thanks for posting.

Nick @6 yes I saw that Carragher article in the Telegraph about how depressing it must be to be an Evertonian. It's disgusting that the Redshite piece of shit is allowed to write an article on us like that.

I texted a fellow Evertonian today and asked him to imagine Peter Reid or Big Dunc being asked to write a piece about how much of a let down Liverpool's season was last year. Unbelievable bias, the media seem to hate us.

This week will decide how this season pans out.

We don't have a fit goal scorer in the team.
We are playing a midfielder on the right wing.
We have no play maker (Certainly not Doucoure or Iwobe).
We have no free kick specialist.
No quality back up at CB
2 bang average full backs and a 38 year old back up
no midfielder likely to get more than 2 goals in the entire season

Nurse more morphine please

I think with the failure to get MSP onboard the footballing side we are restricted between now and the end of the window to who we bring in.
I expect Gray to go an his replacement to come in perhaps Adams or similar. That'll be it.

Moshri has been made a fool of by a host of managers that he employed. They took him to the cleaners, they knew he had not a clue about football and they knew it was not his money.

He pulled the strings, nobody else, but he has ruined
a once great club. Yes, you can blame Kenwright for allowing him to take control.

At the end of the day, Moshri will continue living in luxury in Monaco, the departed managers will carry on filling their boots, from some other suckers, but Everton supporters will have to try and rebuild a football club from the ashes.

A total shambles of a club being run into the ground by those two bluffers.

Whilst it's easy to take a pop at Carragher for his comments, what he said was spot on.
Darren Bent was also talking about the club on Talksport this week and he too hit the nail on the head. When people not even associated with the club can see how badly run it is surely that should alert those in a position to do something about it??

We're considerably weaker than we were last season so it doesn't fill me with confidence about this one.

It is a good time to open the bar, Tony. Everton on the rocks for everyone. I guess I'm one of those that prefers to give it a go and get fucked than play it safe from a down position. We have a few hours before closing and Danjuma looks motivated which is all we need when Harrison and McNeil get back. We are uncomfortably thin bit we have the players capable of some decent football.

Whether the core of the squad can get us to that point without piling up a deficit in points and confidence is a fair question. If we do get by it will be with a chemistry that won't fade or get found out easily. I think Dobbin and Danjuma will come through.

I have to be optimistic looking at this Wolves team without Reuben Neves (who's happily embracing a personal vault of wealth a la Scrooge McDuck, thanks to the Saudis) and Raul Jimenez (whose carcass walked through Goodison for 50+ minutes 2 weeks ago).
