Halid Djankpata becomes the seventh youngster in the current crop to sign his first professional contract in recent days as Everton continue to sign up promising talent from within the ranks of the Academy on full contracts.

The 18-year-old joined Everton’s Academy at the age of 14 and has developed into a versatile attacking midfielder who boasts good physical attributes and is strong in possession. He is committed to Everton for the next 2 years.

Last season, he made eight league appearances for Leighton Baines’ Under-18s while also captaining the team on several occasions before stepping up to Paul Tait’s Under-21s squad where he went on to make 11 Premier League 2 appearances.

“Last season was a positive one because it’s very good to captain your team and we won games,” he explained.

“Working with Leighton Baines is very enjoyable and easy because he can relate to you a lot as he just finished his career not too long ago. Paul Tait is an amazing coach, as well. He tells you a lot. You can take it all in because of the way he speaks to you.”

Oh here we go again. And the next one right in here.

No transfers in, only players leaving and more to follow, so here is the good news fans, another youngster signs his first pro contract. "We are saved!" shout the supposed deluded fans. Thank you, Bill.

It looks like our Manager won't have any option but to have some youngsters on the bench this season with at least 7 young ones (and I'm certainly not talking about Ashley Young), signing pro contracts this summer, because of all the players who have passed through the exit door this summer. He no doubt will have to bring one or two on as subs whether he likes it or not.

I just hope that it works out for everyone because the amount of flack that will fly from around here if it doesn't will be enough to turn them off football for life.

On the other hand, it might give a couple of our goalies the only sight they will get of the Goodison pitch!. Good luck everyone.

Peter - only be room for a few outfield players – we've got 4 goalies.

Good luck to the lad, he's going to need it at this club.
