More season tickets at the new Everton Stadium?

by   |   17/08/2024  12 Comments  [Jump to last]

There are approximately 30,000 fans on Everton's season ticket waiting list.

The crowd capacity in the new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock will be 52,888. How much of this increased capacity will be used to reduce the waiting list?

Any comments or information would be interesting!

The way the team are performing, there could be more tickets available than you imagine.

What a positive start to this thread.

Probably less than you might think Jim.
Of the extra 13,000 seats, 3,500 of these will be the increase in high priced and already sold out ‘hospitality' seats.
It is a well known fact that Everton have a higher ratio of season tickets than other clubs, including those over the park and even smaller capacity clubs like Brentford. The reason they do that, is because they gain a much higher spend per game by selling tickets to members who get to the game infrequently, but spend much more when they do.
My guess is that we will do the same. Firstly it encourages an increase in club membership at £35 per season and enables these seats to be sold at ‘full' price rather than a season ticket discount. Then, when they come, they spend more money in the club shop.
It will be interesting to see how many if any of these extra seats will actually be made available as season tickets.
In addition, we have yet to see what the increases will be for season ticket prices, which might be eye watering. We may also see a phasing out of seat concessions for younger and older fans, as we've heard at Tottenham.
It's going to be a more difficult transition to Bramley Moore than we might hope for.

EFC Shareholders Association posted the following in March:
Link

It states that "There is a Premier League cap that sees no more than 80% of capacity being Season Ticket members".

Don't know how reliable that is.

Does the 20% include away fans though? That would reduce non season tickets to about 5,000 per game spade.

A waiting list isn't the same as sales and 30k sounds a tad optimistic given the mediocrity on offer

The waiting list is actually in the low to mid 20k's.

It is a supply and demand situation really. Currently demand for both season tickets and individual match tickets exceeds supply and really to balance that a price increase for both is justified on economic and business grounds. However it's a fairly recent thing. I can remember not that long ago half season tickets being sold at Christmas and before that the Get Down to Goodison adverts on Radio City.
All told I expect a substantial and wide ranging pricing review including season tickets, match day tickets and concessions ahead of the move to Bramley Moore.

I would also suspect some people have multiple applications perhaps using different email addresses etc, to increase their chances of getting a season ticket. This happened a few decades ago with golf club waiting lists. It appeared that demand was overestimated given that a lot of people had their names down on waiting lists for several clubs. The result seemed to be that too many new courses were built.

Ian, I think the 20% must include away fans.

My reading of this is there will be around 40,000 season ticket holders including the 5500 ALL members, many of whom, I guess, are current season ticket holders or are on the waiting list.

Of the remaining 12,000 the away section will take around 3,000 in line with the Premier League rules and the other 9,000 will be available for single match purchase by members.
