Concerns have been raised about the number of licensed premises opening or planned in the shadow of Everton's new stadium.

Liverpool Waterfront North councillor Dave Hanratty said the stadium was meant to bring investment but that "the only investment we're getting at the moment is alcohol-licenced premises".

He spoke at a licensing meeting where a bid to open a bar named in honour of former Everton manager Howard Kendall was put on hold until a planning dispute could be resolved.

A building control officer told the meeting the impact of the wider stadium development would not be known until the ground was in regular use.

I am thinking of turning one of the old houses into a shop selling knock-off kits from the Far East.
Wonder if the club would object?

What are they expecting in the area? Michelin * restaurants? High end hotels? Everything between the railway like and the river is industrial units.

Will someone like McArthur Glen build an outlet village with a multistory car park with space for 5,000 cars so you can drop off the family and let them go shopping while you go to the match - and then apologies when you get back that her credit card was left on the kitchen table. I won't hold my breath.

Lucky's, and the representative from the Lamborghini Owners' Club who was usually sitting just outside the door, will, indeed, be sorely missed by many.
