Excitement is building for the first Premier League fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium, as Everton host Brighton this Sunday.
 
The Toffees will take to the pitch at their new state-of-the-art waterside home, with fans eager to witness the new 52,769-capacity home in competitive action after this summer's test events.
 
The Athletic have discussed the development of the stadium with Alix Waldron, Everton’s director of new stadium development, who admitted the final friendly fixture with AS Roma was "a bit of a blur".
 
According to the piece, Waldron, a former Everton season ticket holder, played a key role since the project.
 
“I sit in the control room on a matchday and when I finally saw bodies in seats that have been vacant for so long, it was a bit of a hair-stand-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck moment,” she told The Athletic. “An, ‘Oh wow, it works — everyone’s here and you can hear Z Cars’. It was amazing.”

Interesting article on getting the stadium etc ready for Sunday. Alix Waldron has a lot of responsibility but for one moment I thought, when reading the article, that cannot be right - it read :

It’s the not-so-glamourous side of things like toilet blockages and responses to spills.” With work continuing post-game, matchday shifts can last around 13 hours.

13 hour shits - we're not that bad surely ! Then I read it again.

Now if we can prepare the squad in the same professional manner, we'd all be a lot happier.
