With the midfield set to be massively depleted for the next few weeks, possibly throughout the upcoming transfer window, Everton are planning to sign yet another goalkeeper.

It seems David Moyes gave false hope that his preoccupation with having enough goalkeepers was perhaps abating when he put only one substitute goalkeeper on the bench at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

But preparations are well advanced to sign a new young goalkeeper from Australia. Lachlan Allen has been impressing for West Sydney Wanderers. Allen already has a UK Passport, which would make the 17-year-old's move to Finch Farm a lot easier to accomplish in January, if recent talks with his family were successful.

No problem at all with this, it looks like the club are.looking far and wide to secure promising young talent, exactly as they should.

We only had one keeper on the bench as the other was injured...splinters in his arse, so it makes sense to have a back up backup, backup keeper.

Looking forward to having three keepers on the bench, Moyes can out Pep, Pep!

Why plan for the future when you get such constructive comments. Since the current back up keepers are not held in high regard this makes sense if he can provide competition for Pickford

Surely he’s better than Travers, even so young.

Their names presently escape me but don't we have two younger keepers out on loan at the moment who are regularly playing in the lower divisions but anyway most top league clubs usually have a lot of young keepers on their books.

Some 50 odd years ago I played with a young keeper we got from Liverpool (and while with us played for a Merseyside youth team against their Swedish counterparts) as Tom Saunders wanted to bring in a young keeper he'd had at Liverpool Schoolboys but had been let go by West Brom, I think, but Shankley told him that they had 10, TEN, keepers on the books already and if he wanted another he would have to let one go.

Young keepers aren't the problem but it's bringing in "experienced" keepers who have played little regular first team football for a few seasons albeit your deputy keeper should be experienced.
