Post-Match Moyes-Blackburn.

By Tony Cheek :  17/04/2011 :  Comments (12) :
What David Moyes probably said after the game against Blackburn:

"Well done, lads, another 3 points and we are still playing average to say the least. Looking very solid at the back though. They were nowhere near scoring, even after a couple of mix-ups at the back. Much better second half though.

"Tim, looking good, cannot fault you today, and a clean sheet again. Keep it up.

"Tony, great game son. Who says you can`t cross a ball. No, you can`t take the next penalty son, well, maybe against Chelsea in the last game if we are winning 3-0 with 5 minutes to go... but only then!

"Jags, solid again. Still think we could pass it more out of defence. Long passes are not your strong point really!

"Syl, very important you don`t try and be too clever. No "Yobo's" for ages... I hope you`re not saving one for the United game. Just keep it simple.

"Leighton, good game although it's not exactly flowing down that right side anymore like it was when Peanut was here... What do you mean, "Who`s Peanut?" That little bloke who sits on the bench at Spurs! Told you not to pick Ossie out with those fast crosses. He`ll never hit the target with those!

"Bily... starting to lose my patience now, just not enough happening. No, you can`t play in the middle son, I´ve got people lining up to play there, and where the hell did that fastest player stat come from!! You must be joking!

"Johnny, sometimes I can watch a game and not even notice you. Did you play all game or what? Oh, you went off with a ham-string! What, another one? We can start a butchers shop soon!

"Jack, now this was more like it! Liked the way you played today. Can still be more happening around you, but this was definitely better!

"Phil, two shots in two games, not bad. But I would just hit them son, don`t try and place them, bit too optimistic. Good game though, this is definitely your best position.

"Magaye, definitely better than last week, nearly got on the sheet as well! But if you are going to pick on someone, don't pick on David Dunn, he`s hard as nails. Just stick one on that little ponce Gamst-Pedersen instead. Mikel will buy you a pint if you do!

"Seamus, good but I`ve seen you better, hope you are fully fit for the big one next week. I am going to need you at your best.

"Jermaine... the word that comes to mind is NAIVE, you have to hit the target more! Miss one like that next week and you`re on the bench. Me and you had to have words after your outburst last week ? hope you have learnt who is boss around here!

"Ossie, saved you till last, you are on a roll lad!! What have you been doing all these years, leading us to believe you could´nt play. Man of the match again...those bloody shots though.

"Asopolos.. Alostopos.. Asoltlopos.........Thomas, nearly got one there, very strong. Looking good!

"Right, old red nose`s bunch next week. I would love to put one over on them. Need you lot to do a job, as I might get a job there some day..."

Who said "hope so?"

Good to win again. If (IF) we were to finish 7th with spending fcuk all (and indeed being forced to loan out half the squad) it'd be very very impressive.

I don't always like our style of play but given this is a results business, what can we honestly realistically expect in the league?

Moysie p1sses me off but I think he's become a victim of his own success...7th after spending no money...it's genuinely unbelievable. Give DM £30m and let's see what he can achieve

Kase (#2) Wish people would stop saying that Moyes will do well with money.

Where are we going to get £30m to give DM? There is no money in the pot, get over it and get on with it!

I'm not even convinced DM would do well with money. Bily, Yak and he even tried to sign Manny for £12m. Give Moyes £5m a season and he will unearth gems like Cahill, Arteta and Peanut.

To be fair, Matthew, most of us were desperate for Manny to sign, however, I do agree that Moyes has yet to convince that he would be better with pots of money than he is when he has to give his signings real thought. Cahill, Arteta, Pienaar, Neville,Coleman, Howard,Maggie May,Yobo,Jags,Distin,Saha and Beckford were all brought in for what many teams regard as small change or squad players. The bigger fee players have certainly not set the world alight, with the exception of the Yak in his first season.

Bigger fee players? Yak,£11m scored his most for us in a season, qualified for Europe each year until last and then did his usual "I'm off" routine. AJ, £8.6 m, top scorer first year (I think) and in Europe the two season he was here. Bily, 1st season 7 goals and quite a number of assists without being a full time first player, never played in his preferred position yet. Felliani 15m Euro, arguably our best midfield for two seasons until getting fouled and put out for months each time, definite success story, all the big clubs arre after him. Who else? Heitinga? not expensive in todays terms? Kroldrup? Not overly expensive and got most of it back, Meattie, a striker for £6m, a club record but still buttons in regards to top stricker costs.

What other bigger fee players are there that have apparently tanked?

Tony, on paper, the facts would suggest that these players have been a resounding success but I think that rather flatters to decieve. Bily is regularly slagged on these pages and, lets be honest, doesn't look like a £9m-£10m player, even when he moves inside, leaving the fullback exposed, to play in what we're told is his favoured position. A couple of great goals and ocassional flahes of brilliance is all he provides.
I liked Johnson and his 17 goals in 61 games is'nt too bad but he isn't THAT much better than Vaughn!
Feed the Yak, yeah, but only salads. He has no interest after, as you say, his initial love affair with a club has dwindled and certainly no loyalty (have any of them) and I doubt if we'll see him in our shirt again. Beattie, Króldrup, Heitinga. No thanks.
Fellaini is the one who looks like he could be a great player but I wonder if he sees us as a stepping stone to CL football with a bigger (paying) club?

He might have also said, "Gerard Houllier has sent his thanks through to us for basically playing them back into the Premier League for the season."

Once again brilliant Tony.
One thought though. Hasn´t red nose become BLUE NOSE?
